I think the reason they show Jason afraid of water is because Freddy attacks children. Jason reverted back to his childhood fear while in Freddy's dream world.
Or a bit of bad writing, dude spent years in the water literally and always calmly walked out.

Jason died by drowning as a child so it's not hard to believe the child in him would be afraid of water even if the man and the killer he evolves into, isn't. It also shows Freddy's predatory nature towards children and how he manipulates his dream world to feed on the fear of children. I know some people disagree but I think it's clever.
@@Foutainoflife1 Chances are they sat around the writing table and couldn't think of anything he could possibly be afraid of and someone said what about what killed him. Then everyone spoke up about how he's spent more time in water than a fish and the head of the table said screw it, it's the best we got.

@@tapoemt3995 Because he's already dead. But again, Jason was killed in water, so it's not uncommon for the character to be afraid of what kills them, like Freddy and fire. It's psychological common sense, get some.
If i remember correctly the explanation for why he is afraid of water in this and not other movies is because when he is in the dream world it brings out the fear he had as a child when he drowned. When he is awake he isn't effected by his fear or it is buried.

Jason was in a nightmare, that is why the fear took him over. Freddy doesn't just outright kill people because he like 'IT' feeds on fear, plus he just has fun doing what he does. Also Freddy did know martial arts in the movies, he is basically master of the matrix, he does what he wants.

My Uncle Robbie took me to see this gnarly piece of art in 2003 at the Palace in downtown Windsor, Ontario, Canada (Detroit's neighbor) on opening weekend. I was 11 years old, and after weeks begging him before it was released to take me, he begrudgingly gave in. It was one of the best times of my life as a film lover.
All he asked was to not tell my folks he took me to see it, and I never did 😂

This movie is a perfect example of what happens when big fans of franchises actually get the chance to make their dream movie. And it was AWESOME! I loved this movie in the theater and till this day. It's goofy, cheesy, corny and funny! It even has a couple of spooky/startling moments. The perfect Freddie vs. Jason homage to the franchises and fans.

They actually did a weigh-in and a press conference between Freddy and Jason and they had boxing ring announcer Michael Buffer interduce them both.
There was a plan in place for an end credits scene featuring Pinhead from the Hellraiser series. The ending would show Jason and Freddy fighting in Hell, when a giant puzzle box would appear and Pinhead would exit from it saying, "Gentlemen. What appears to be the problem?" They had it storyboarded and everything. However, they couldn't get the rights to the Hellraiser characters.
I think it's because he was deep in Jason's subconscious, and that is the only place where Jason actually has a fear of water.

Bruce talks about that. I just don't remember what was said. Also I recently found out Jason is apparently a deadite anyway. So this was probably really gonna be a thing at one point in time. At least it was confirmed for Jason goes to Hell unsure what the consensus is on it being canon, I'm going by the director of said film's words
There are sequels...but only in comic book form. Freddy vs Jason vs Ash (from Evil Dead).
There's actually three more Jason "movies". They're fan films, but very well done. They even include some returning cast members from Part VI: Jason Lives. "Never Hike Alone", "Never Hike in the Snow", and "Never Hike Alone 2". They're on UA-cam, absolutely free.
There's another fan film called 'Jason Rising' that's free on UA-cam. They actually got original props from the 2nd movie I think that they used and cast from the franchise also. I think it's pretty fun if you haven't seen it.

I would love to see you react to the Hatchet series or "The final girls" 2014. I think the main reason Jason was afraid of water was a behind the scenes desire to give both Freddy and Jason equal screen time winning the fights rather than it being overwhelmingly one franchise or the other.
Remember jason is dreaming. Our fears are amplified in nightmares. Also its freddys world and he's tapping deep into his childhood when he drowned.
In our daily lives we can deal with memories of trauma, but if we have nightmares about the same things, we can wake up in a sweat, terrified and have our days ruined.
i think the fear of water is more of a subconscious thing from when he drowned. like a repressed memory of that traumatic event

Freddy is attacking Jason's subconscious - he is materializing his fears that were suppressed in the dreams. No different than how we can function under many circumstances but the right stimuli can trigger an adverse effect that we yet to experience. Like if certain movies trigger emotions that normally one wouldn't react to but the right formula in that movie or phrase takes the person temporarily out. SUPERNATURAL PTSD is a bitch.
The third or fourth time I watched this I realized Brendan Fletcher who played Mark also played Grady in Werewolf of Fever Swamp, my favorite Goosebumps episode and I went down the this rabbit hole of just watching anything he's in. He was more recently Krampus in Violent Night.
I forgot about Robert Shaye, owner/founder of New Line Cinema making a cameo in this one as a teacher. He runs out in the hall after Lori passes out.
They had to nerf Jason to have Freddy stand a chance. Jason isn't afraid of Freddy at all so he shouldn't have power

Wore my Jason mask with a t-shirt that said ‘Fred’ from the Fred Store.. They gave us a button and some other swag (and this was at a small town theater). Basically, this was a big deal when it came out. :)

Dreams are connected directly to the subconscious mind. Jason's younger self is afraid of water because it represents how he died in the first place. In reality he can swim through water with no problem but in the dream world his subconscious fears are triggered and amplified.

Director Ronny Yu directed John Ritter in Bride of Chucky and Directed his son Jason Ritter in Freddy vs Jason.

These 2 movies along with Halloween:H2O are also on the same timeline! Bride of Chucky was literally after the events of this film (You can see Jasons mask and Freddys glove, along with Michaels mask in the intro scene to Bride of Chucky)
I remember watching this in theaters when it first came out, I think I was in 7th grade, myself and about 10 friends all went out one night and had an AWRSOME night. Up until Avengers came out this was by far the coolest movie theater experience of my life
I hit the thumbs up before I even pressed Play because I knew this reaction was going to be epic.
Fun fact. The kid playing Will the late great John Ritter’s son. Also this isn’t the last time Robert Englund played Freddy. He played Freddy again in 2018 in the Show The Goldbergs. That was the last time for Robert
Watching Jay grooving when it's 7 am Saturday local time for me is something I highly recommend for everyone to experience.
The original ending in the script was to show Freddy and Jason about to fight in Hell. Hooks and chains attached to them to stop then fron fighting and Pinhead shows up.
The problem with the drunk scene is that when you pass out from alcohol. You don't have REM sleep, that's why you're so tired after waking up from drinking binge.

When I went to see it there was only my friend and I watching it!
Just cause your scared of something doesn't mean you're paralyzed by that fear, Jason powered through it. Freddy does however have the power to amplify that fear to be paralyzing. Heck even Batman is scared of bats, he learned to overcome it.

This movie takes place after both Freddy’s Dead and Jason Goes to Hell, which is the 4 year time gap. The reason why no one remembers Freddy is because the adults and police have done a vast containment project to avoid any more deaths. All those who claimed to dream about Freddy or even the mere mention of his name was sent to Western Hills, the same place where Freddy was born at. That’s why the older police officer kept telling the younger ones to shut up. Given the circumstances, I don’t blame him. I wouldn’t wanna remember any of it either.
Also… for all of Mark’s intelligence and is supposed know everything about Freddy, he just basically his dirty work for him. Freddy himself even says early on that if no one remembers him, he gets weak.
It’s one thing to die over and over. It’s another to not be remembered at all and Freddy cannot stand that.
By causing such a fuss at that school, now people are starting to remember when they had no business remembering nothing.
I kind of get what Mark was trying to do but he’s one of the dumbest characters in this movie and the fact that he gets killed by the same dude he indirectly helped was all the more ironic.

As a child I always wanted to see who’d win in a fight Michael Myers vs Jason or Michael Myers Vs Freddy or Freddy vs Jason and so when I learnt that it was an actual movie, I was sooo excited 🤣. It didn’t disappoint. I also cheer so loud and hard when Jason shish kebabs that Rave guy

In Jason Goes To Hell, Jason wasn't supposed to make a noise, but the way I hear it, Kane Hodder couldn't help it when the explosive bullet hits went off. They could have taken them out, but apparently the director liked it.
The one thing that made me mad about this movie was they had no interest in doing it. Kane Hodder made it a point to push the idea and get Robert Englund to support it for years and years. They decide to do the movie and literally ghost Kane Hodder the best fucking Jason actor in all the movies. When he found out it was being made he actually called Robert Englund to tell him it was greenlit and then the studio left him out of it.

The director of that movie stated that Jason 'reverting' back to childhood form was the main girl's imagination lmao. She's seen child Jason the whole movie and learning that made me respect Part 8 SO MUCH MORE. It was just her hallucination. Hard to believe people would actually believe Jason has magic powers to revert him back to being a child then back to adult Jason a sequel later with the mask literally stuck to his face thanks to the toxic waste.
Love this one. I had the poster in my room as a kid and it used to scare my cousin/friends when they stayed over. 😅
