Really liked your summary/review at the end. It was good to hear actual, considered, thoughts about everything from the acting to the themes at the end of a UA-cam reaction; especially about a movie like this one.
I have watched many reactions of this movie and I'm grateful to everyone who has posted their reaction to it some I really liked, others not so much but you are the first one who took the time to really think about this movie and its subject matter, break it down and talk about it. In my mind, you are also the first one to see it the way I did. Although I don't completely agree with your onions of all the actors. This is normal I think we all have our own personal likes and dislikes. All and all, I applaud you. Thank you for your reaction.

This film, along with Schindler's List and 12 Years a Slave should be shown to every high school student in America and make them write an essay about what they saw. No one is born a racist--they were raised that way.
While I have to agree that no one is born a _supremacist,_ I do think tribalism is simply part of the human condition (which is why it's so hard to get rid of). And tribalism based on how people look is probably second only to illness when it comes to how we divide into groups. _"Birds of a feather flock together."_ -old saying Another way to say it is, we must teach children to *_not_* give into their evolutionary predilection to divide groups by things that people cannot change, because it surely is the default of humanity.
Great analysis at the end there, and you make a very good point about how silencing people won't work because they'll find it easier to come up with new platforms where their narratives won't be as strongly combated because we will have lost the art of understanding their viewpoints and debunking them. As to your question about who is evil, I would say it's not those who parrot the harmful rhetoric they've been hearing, it's those who use that rhetoric to further their aims often not even believing in it themselves. That could be politicians, CEO's, foreign adversaries, or even content creators who do it for the views. It should be the civic duty of each citizen of a nation to stay informed, challenge their own views, and respectfully disagree with those who differ
What's great about your answer to my question is that your criteria for labeling people as "evil" is 100% based on *the decisions that they made,* not anything that they can't change.
Thanks a lot. I would appreciate any suggestions. I used to mention a lot when I first started this channel that as a Generation X geek action guy, I've pretty much seen all the classics. Star wars, star trek, lord of the rings, lethal weapon, Die Hard, a Christmas movie, etc. So I respond to more obscure favorites, as well. Look forward to your suggestion.
Dolores Claiborne from 1995 It’s an overlooked gem. If you loved this, you’ll love that film. It’s a masterclass in storytelling. It’s Stephen King’s favorite adaptation. It’s also Kathy Bates best performance. 🎭
I remember that title from when I used to work at Blockbuster Video (yes, that's how far back I go), but I never saw it. _"...Kathy Bates best performance."_ Those are some mighty big words with her _Misery_ performance being out there.
It’s on record. She’s stated that that’s the performance she’s most proud of and enjoyed doing. Stephen King wrote the book Dolores Claiborne with her in mind after watching her in Misery.
Good movie, and good review. I agree that it doesn't really give enough attention to the other side of the argument. The lunch table scene with Norton's family would have been a great place to present both sides, but instead the script has Ed Norton make point after point and Elliott Gould just sits there and doesn't respond. Seems like a wasted opportunity.

First watch for me on your channel. Really enjoyed your commentary and review. You got a sub. Hopefully there's more to come. "Hate is baggage."

Great video, subbed. Have you seen Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood? If not, definitely one you should check out. Peace from England
I have not seen it. Thank you for the suggestion.
@ no worries

And that's my point. I think the filmmakers _assume_ that the viewer knows how to refute Norton's arguments. I submit that's is a bad assumption.
Nah the whole cast was perfect
