Right off idle you get to about 40 lb-ft of torque and it stays above that to redline. Wow! Perfect for the road.
Who are you kidding? It's a rip off. Output like an 80s gsx750es or a twovalve gpz750. Doubt they sell for that money.
@@impalaSS65So you claim to have the riding skills to fully exploit the potential of high power sportbikes? In reality few riders actually do....
@@dagfinnster7133 It doesn't matter. We are free. We don't need Stalin to tell us what to do in any aspect.
@@impalaSS65 The landscapes changed. These things move in cycles. You're right that these are very similar performance wise to the middleweights of the late 80's & early 90's. However, the difference being they were more or less at the peak of the middleweights sports bikes of the time where as these are a specific design choice & created to fit in to the European A2 licence structure. These are selling well, as are all the other brands in this sector too as this type of bike is what a lot of customers want now seemingly. The supersport market is dead & so these comfortable, sporty all-rounders are popular & broadly considered good value. Unfortunately as far as new bikes go now, these are "cheap."
@@ragerider6283 In no way were the examples I gave the peak of 750/600 sport bikes. I don't compare them for one second to the FZ750 and GSXR750 during most of the same model years. My examples were considered OK and of course way more fun than the model year before. Everything got quickly better during the 80s, compared to the 70s. Today we have social justice DEI running the show. Hence simps get excited over a pig with lipstick and mascara.
The landscape is coaxed into a less testosterone dominant behavior. That's why everything sucks increasingly. The EU/UN/WHO is turning every bit of freedom into a eunuck world. Young men are overweight gamers that seem to fear adrenaline kicks. They don't even try to be as cool as the badasses of their parent's generation.
It's a sign of sickness (hypotestosteronemeia) to accept it - or worse - being so servile in one's mind, one pretends to even like it.
The EU bullshit of A2 is a socialist device to demotivate young men to pursue cool interests. Make it expensive and time consuming to get a cool bike. Less license holders - less buyers. Why the hell the sport bike sales are falling in the states I'll never understand. They have the regulations nice and low, still the young men are pvssying out.
Good torque from idle. There's a lot more left in this engine, would make a great project !
Everyone praising the 8R like it's the second coming. Yet the trusty CBR650R is 95hp and only weighs 3lbs more and has that glorious 4 cylinder sound.
The difference is that the CBR is a Honda. lol
Cbr650r made 7 more whp peak but dropped fast. This holds over 70whp from 7500rpm to redline. And also has 10lbs more tq. Has way more tq from right off idle on..
And they are impossible to find anywhere.
Sadly the Suzuki sounds tooo bad
First thing I noticed: “wait, this thing makes the same sort of power and torque as a 2003-07 Ducati 800 SS!” But then this 8R starts falling flat a bit, cuz that 800SS was making nearly identical numbers with an AIRCOOLED 2-valve L-twin TWENTY years ago. Guess this motor is definitely low strung and should last forever at least!
72.8 hp 8120rpm
51.7lbft 6630rpm
Lets remove the air filter element and try again see if gives more🤔
Yep, loads more potential. Full system, ECU flash, high flow air filter & remove the airbox snorkel tubes & that gives at least +10 bhp & +10 lbs/ft torque. Not cheap but good gains.
It’s still a slug. Although perfect for a new rider and maybe some women that don’t want or need fun power. No thank you all pass and keep my Ktm 890r Duke with 125hp and 75fp to the rear wheel.
@@RobertKehl An unnecessary & ironic comment considering KTM's are made of glass lol. Let's see your dyno sheet then. I've had several bikes that would eat your Duke numbers alive but power isn't everything. I've also met plenty of female riders that could give you & most other people a run for their money too. Grow up.
@@ragerider6283 Ktm made of Glass lol. I too have higher hp bikes. The point I was trying to make is they’re building the bikes cheaper with less sporty parts which show with the less performance. It ok for the rider that doesn’t care for sure. For me I like to see progression in performance. I somewhat agree that we don’t need 200+ hp bikes designed for track only to be ridden on the street. But if the trend is to get away from 1000cc+ Super bikes and move to middle weight sport bikes for the road. I think dumbing them down with less performance is not what people that like sport bikes want.
@@RobertKehl That makes sense. You should have said it like that in the first place.
@ 0:46 lumpy bumpy acceleration.
Inline twin with a 270* crank will never be smooth.
I really think Triumph and Yamaha got the right idea with the inline triples.
Kawasaki ninja 7 hybrid dyno please
FYI rs660 had 89.2hp and 44.9 lb ft tq
Yea in shootout that one was flying.. well it was slow at start then blow by everyone even in roll race. KTM 890r was second fastest followed by gsx8r
I wish they would do real world scenarios. Like 0-80-0 again. Light to light. Most people aren't doing 0-120 over a half mile. Ain't trying to kill myself on the highway.
5th gear pull? Around 105 mph at rev limiter?
Hmmmm ….. I had a:
1998 Honda 600F3;
90hp and 43lb ft.
And the:
1998 Suzuki GSX-R600;
109 hp and 48lb ft.
Ah, how things change.
Those cats were 4 cylinder powerhouses, its like comparing cats to chihuahuas😂😂
@@fidelcatsro6948 Yup, but don't forget these were 600, this one is 800cc.
Good ol days of lax emissions regulations
@@fidelcatsro6948 Yes that is fair they why are the calling this junk an 8R? It's marketing hoping that idiots will buy it.
People enjoy usable low-end torque more than high-end hp. Oh, and epa and euro5 regulations are screwing up everything.
These bikes are really neutered from the factory. Can get a bunch more HP with intake mods!
Yeah it needs a better exhaust 🤙🏾
The fact that the handlebars are almost higher than the windshield is what turns me off this kind of poser bike. I drove this and the GSX8S and for me it would be the naked. With these, you sit upright like a naked, but you dont get really any benefit of the bodywork, so it is more for the looks. The bike alone looks alright but when you see someone on it you see that it just looks wrong to be that upright on something that looks like a sportsbike.
"Poser bike. 😅
You can spend more than this bike is worth on Vance and Hines go fast goodies...
By all of the dynos I've seen, your dyno reads very low by comparison.
Lol 70hp what a joke, my adventure bike destroys this thing on road and can go off-road. Don’t waste ur money on this new garbage, pickup a used 600 or naked like a mt09.
How does the KTM 790 make 95 HP and this only makes 73? ua-cam.com/video/ctbeKUDvBQg/v-deo.html
Yet another stupid useless pointless bike. I hope they sell 3 of them. Ugh.
Describe your not-stupid, not-useless, not-pointless bike.
