- If you have trouble managing reflections for your food photography, understanding the basics of how reflections work is a great place to start. In this video, I take a look at Reflection Light, which is a type of natural light that we would typically see in everyday life. I then take the lessons I learned from observing this type of light and apply it to my food subjects in the studio. Hope you find it helpful!

Didn’t notice the difference so well before. Thank you for sharing!
Awesome! Thanks for watching
Thank you so much!
Always informative. Always learn something new every video. Your technicality and attention to every minute detail is insane!
Thanks Miguel!
WOW!! I learned so much from just this one video! Whenever I take my food shots, I’m constantly trying a million different angles and finagling with the lights. Now it makes sense why some shots look more appealing than others! You explain things in such an easy to follow way. Thank you so much!
I'm happy he is back !!!
Brandon! The video production quality is getting better and better after each video👌
I agree
Thanks Abhyanshu!
Hey Brandon, I like how you analyze and explain lighting. This video helped me to better understand more in depth how lighting a certain way can help retain more detail. If I understand you correctly, you have to consider the surface of your subject to determine if direct or diffused reflection would work best.
i know this is a channel that teaches how to get good lighting for food photography mainly, but you need to show us ur setup on how you get that perfect natural lighting in your room when you are facing your camera!!! definitely subbed 👍
How is this content free!? seriously this is gonna take my food game to another level. I cant thank you enough
great content. really motivates me on my lazy days to just have fun and keep experimenting !!!

Studio tour
Super useful! What lens did you use to shoot the peanut butter?
I really find hwauei camera supports reflections very clear
Should i use grid for my godox octabox 95cm
With that doughnut, don't you think apart from the difference in reflections you showed, the angle made a major change(also).
Reflection and angle (with respect to light source) are dependent on each other, so I would say yes, the angle makes a huge difference.
what large softbox did you use on the b10? thanks!
legend for just ending the Video at under 10min
Which macro lens you used for the shooting?
Indirectly, can I say, midtones (which always shows us color) exhibit diffused reflections all the time?
Really depends though. There are a lot of factors that may affect midtones (shadows, light source location, surface, etc.). It may sometimes be coming off as diffused light reflection but not all the time. Happy to be corrected if I missed out anything. 😁
Same. That's a good question. Right now, I would say that midtones exhibit diffused reflections all the time but, like Patrick, I'm happy to be proven wrong.
hello i want to know more tutorials about reflection please teach me
Are you using black promist 1/4 filter ? Look like movie ..
Yup
I guess the best idea is used difused light from 3 directions hahahahaha :D
I'm your biggest fan, but the image of the donuts, really turn me down, looks like other thing ....
Essentially lighting that produces silhouettes doesn't preserve color
