    Just here to say Joanie's Artificial Light Academy is a total game changer. I used to be terrified of artificial light, but Joanie's class makes it easy and fun to learn. Such a confidence builder. I now know I can go into any lighting situation and get a great shot. If you're on the fence about this class, do it. Best investment ever.

    How do you do it?! How do you always manage to come out with a video just at the right time. I literally JUST got the feedback from a client that an image was muddy. I wasn't even 100% sure what that meant or how to fix it. I used a two light setup for that shot... so this is making a whole lotta sense. Thank you for everything you do!

    I took Joanie’s classes 4 years ago and my work improve 100% as a photographer. Like many others, I used to dislike flashes but now I can’t live without because it helps me to work anytime and I don’t have to be worry about natural light, because I can create it. If you wanna learn to use artificial light this class is a must! Joanie is the best teacher.

      @@TheBiteShot I swear! Since I took your class a long time ago I look at light differently and usually my mental "What Would Joanie Do Bracelet" screams out "KEEP IT SIMPLE!!!" and I let my brain look for subtractions it can make. It is an invaluable tool to me that I will carry forever. Wizard is fitting but I could live with light surgeon if you prefer lol.

    Hi,
    great videos. Just love it.
    How about white balance? When shooting with flash or strobes, do you use auto white balance or do you make your camera match the kelvin of the flash in use?

    • @TheBiteShot
      @TheBiteShot Рік тому +1

      Great question! I match the Kelvin of the light. AWB is basing on the ambient light which could be irrelevant if I’m cancelling it out. AWB also shifts constantly so editing is easier when the WB is consistent

    • @LuisChainho
      @LuisChainho Рік тому

      @@TheBiteShot Thanks. A few months ago I made a portrait session with light controlled, but I was struggling on post with so many different temperatures along the session. And I believe here will be the same, so matching the Kelvin to our light was the best option I saw.
      Thank you so much for replying.

  • @restaurantmoneymakersbyitr11

    Would you want to take a photo with a soft box that fixed overhead to capture light cross the entire food item as opposed to just from a side?

  • @thomastuorto9929
    @thomastuorto9929 Рік тому

    I believe that for all photography except most landscape photography,= excluding night light painting, flash is what would excel your photography quality the most when done correctly. Now with that said, high quality flash equipment (like the one used during your pouring coffee/cream photos taken with quick recycle times. Profoto?) can cost just as much or more than a new camera & lens. Great examples. Looks like a great class.

    • @TheBiteShot
      @TheBiteShot Рік тому +1

      Thanks! I'm actually using a Godox AD600 Pro. Definitely not inexpensive, but not as spendy as Profoto and I've been happy with it

    Whats the point with the second camera angle? It doesn’t provide any meaningful insight or information exept that you can afford two cameras :) I see it a lot and its just distracting when it is unmotivated by any means.

  • @tedming3515

    Are you OK, Joan? It's the second video in a row about sharpness. Sounds like you had an aging lady walking up to you in a restaurant while you were working on your composition and standing behind your shoulder while making remarks on how you should handle your camera.
