    Thank you for this video. I live in the U.S.A. and had to do a little sleuthing to find this for sale in our country (Amazon) but for those here in the U.S.A. this is the SAMTIAN 24" and the color is listed as the F60II. As of today's comment, it's listed at $98.63 but your mileage may vary. I think sometimes they tailor pricing to you. I can't verify that but...anyhow, thank you again this was a valuable video for me.

    Thank you Martin. I bought a very similar set up from B&H Photo here in the US for $80. Works really well, especially for the high gloss pieces. Since my DSLR is much better than my phone camera, I tend to use that. Interesting video and it gave me a couple of ideas to further improve my set up.

    Hi Martin. Really liked your video. Very straightforward and easy to follow. I looked for a lightbox similar to yours on Amazon but didn't see one. Thanks Martin. I was looking for a lightbox for my turnings, was watching video reviews and who should appear but you! I was really settled on a different one but you sold me on this one for a number of reasons, 1, the movable lights. 2, you seem really happy with it and 3 you've been using it for 2 to 3 years and it seems to be working fine! Also, having watched a number of your turning videos I trust what you are saying.
    Also, a brilliant review in the sense of walking us through your set-up and use. Some great pointers and tips, Thanks.

    Great video, have you looking into getting a bluetooth photo shutter or bluetooth controller? You paid these with the phone and then you can remotely take photos without having to touch the phone! I know that you can use the timer function on your phone but it's just simpler to use the bluetooth controller to take the shots. Most bluetooth controllers that are used for gaming often have a 'mouse mode' so it can be used to both take the shot and control the focus.

    HOW DO YOU GET RID OF THE GRAYNESS OF THE PHOTO THAT COMES WITH TAKING PHOTO WITH SMARTPHONE?... @4:35 YOU CAN SEE ON THE LEFT THAT THE IMAGE HAS THIS DULL BACKGROUND INSTEAD OF CLEAR PRISTINE WHITE.. WHAT TO DO ABOUT THIS?

    • @msabansmith
      @msabansmith  2 роки тому

      Never noticed a poor quality exposure when using my phones. I choose a neutral grey background to get the natural colours of the piece. If I wanted a pristine white background instead of the grey, I would use the white background screen that is provided with the light box.

    • @peterevans8194
      @peterevans8194 2 роки тому

      Runifuceeme: I noticed/thought the same thing...I am not sure how much control of exposure and metering you have on a smartphone, but as somebody else mentioned in a previous post, it looks like the camera on the phone is trying to reduce the back ground to 18% grey....However if you were using say a DSLR camera, you would expose for the object, and allow the white back ground to blow out a bit...Then it would be a case of using the exposure compensation to fine tune the results....

    • @msabansmith
      @msabansmith  2 роки тому +1

      The background is grey, not white. White is too stark for me. Grey show the colours of the piece more accurately and doesn't blow out highlights.
