I remember not that long ago, before the internet and the accessibility to music artists,I was a fan of Rush for years and never saw them live. Now 40 years later and having seen them in concert over 30 times,it’s hard to imagine back to those times and bootleg tapes of their gigs.
I saw them first in 1981 and last in 2015. Never a bad show begonning to end and all points in between. Totally mesmerizing, the way they performed live...
Yeah, cause we'd all be so disappointed to see it again and again! hahahaha - you're so funny! Took an ex-girlfriend to a concert and she was an instant fan, watching their documentaries and calling me when she found them. They were special in person, but there was never such a thing as too many times seeing them. Wish I could have seen them more. I've been bugging you for Xanadu. Bring a seat belt. Make sure it's "Exit Stage Left" performance, because it's simply perfection. In the top two all-time live musical performances w-Ghost Love Score at Wacken. I want a front row seat to that reaction, please reserve it for me.
Just think how lucky we all are to have out of billions of years that have passed and that are to come, we lived durning the eras of Rush! Thats amazing to think about. I saw them just once, it was a lifelong dream!
This really brings back memories for me. This was the first tour I saw Rush live. It was a life changing event for me. Just incredible musicians and great chemistry and energy on stage.
If you want to hear something different from RUSH and Geddy's voice, then watch "The Garden" from their Clockwork Angels tour. I literally cry each time I hear it, because it was near the end of them touring, and it was Neil's way of saying "Goodbye". The foreshadowing of what was to come years later is chilling.
That is prolly one of my top 3 Rush performances....I love Geddys voice from every era but The Garden being the last song on their last album and the meaning behind the song it's hard not to be emotional everytime you watch it❤️🇨🇦🎸
There is another Rush song is also very emotional. Song is Red Sector A. Red Sector A is very personal to Geddy Lee because Neil wrote about liberation of Nazi Concentration Camp near Bergen-Belsen. One of the survivors was Geddy Lee's mother, Manya (Mary). His father was held in another concentration near Dachau. Geddy Lee stated his mother has very thick accent. She calls him, "Geddy" as his birth's is Gary Lee. I think this song is a tribute to his parents and other survivors.
This tour was my first, and I stood there on the main floor at Joe Louis arena about 30 rows from the stage with my jaw on the floor the whole time. I never witnessed a better live band, and I never missed a tour until they called it a career. Incredible.❤
3 simultaneous solos ! ! ! Watching them closely you never see them signaling for transitions, they know each other so well and the music, it’s just pure chemistry.
Love this song. Have a watch of the Show of Hands version of this, Geddy plays the bassline on his own in that instrumental part for a bit and it's sublime.
Great pick! I love this song. Their chemistry and brotherhood is so evident. Xanadu from Exit Stage Left live in Montreal is 🤯🤯🤯 Cheers from the Canadian prairies.
This is a wonderful performance (the whole concert is awesome!). If you want to see another great performance from their later years, I suggest 'Between the Wheels' live from the R30 tour in Germany.
The first time I heard Rush was Tom Sawyer in fifth grade and I thought it was the best thing I ever heard. Then over the years I bought all of their albums and they are without a doubt my favorite band. At 25 I played in a Rush tribute band called Counterparts.
Xanadu is an excellent choice. You spoke about Geds voice being more mature so I would suggest after Xanadu, The Garden which is on Clockwork Angels. There's a great live version here on the Tube.
The record label told them they needed to put out a radio hit so they put out one of the greatest masterpieces ever,2112, thank you for putting the pressure on
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 I absolutely love those lines, you can be the captain and I will draw the chart Sailing into destiny For me it means as a couple we will work together as a team, even if I have to be the captain, my number 1 will chart the course, on which way we will sail into destiny, those lines make me feel sooooo incredibly happy, wouldn't that just be out of this world beyond awesome; if that was a reality, I smile brightly 🌞
I love the enthusiasm that you have for these guys, they have been my favorite for ever. If you want to dive even deeper into what they are all about, then you should listen to, OMG, so many songs, to Natural Science, or the Camera Eye. P.S. I wish you were my neighbor, because I am a sucker for redheads.
Best trio ever ! Bar none ! I'm from T,O. and saw them in the 70's as a bar band and they were phenomenal !Many concerts later I can honestly say they were great and such wonderful people! Great musicians in their own right ! Greatest drummer ever ! R.I.P. Neil Peart ! Thank you for posting one of the great concerts in our hometown. They are one of Canada's greatest bands ever and have a huge following worldwide. That is for sure. Although they were not mainstream music, their fans are the most loyal in the world and I know everyone who has ever witnessed them will tell you how great they really were. I miss them so much. Thanks for bringing this memory back. Send you much thanks and love from Canada 👍🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️

I think one thing that differentiates Rush fans from fans of other bands is that Rush fans can tell you you when they became Rush fans. As a child of the 70s I remember hearing Working Man, Fly by Night, and Closr to the Heart on the radio. It wasn't unti I was a teenager in the early 80s when I heard Tom Sawyer and became a Rush fan that I made the connection that all those songs were by the same band....mind blowing when you're 15 years old.

Very true. Unfortunately Geddy over used his voice in his younger years. Plus he got older, which sucks. They were the best of the best. Didn't get "love" until later years. Were not on mainstream radio, but made it big (or should I say HUGE)! All the best from the home of Rush 🇨🇦.
