  • The PSR-530 is an XG feast (XG being Yamaha's standard sound map originating from the mid 90's, for those too young to remember!)
This particular PSR-530 has a wrecked screen but it's still possible to go through plenty of the XG sounds and discover some really sweet layers and other great results with only minor editing.
Then It's over to 25-years-newer PSR-E463 to cram some complex midi data and filtering into the old 530. Can it cope?

Some really gnarly sound design on the PSR-530.

Finally, a synth that I own. It's a great machine with an unusual cartridge expansion system.

Yeah I forgot to talk about the cartridge thing. Without the screen I guess it was pretty redundant though.

Yup... I owned this one too... Pretty good Keyboard for that time... Classic XG sounds... This one actually was very fun to use... I know some of the styles from this Keyboard are still used on Newer Models... Thank You for Sharing Bro!

For an older keyboard, I would say that this one falls into a category of not really being a toy, and is far more useful as an actual quality instrument, and if I owned this machine, I would either attempt to take it apart to see if i could fix that display on my own, OR I would get into contact with Yamaha to see if there was any option to have it professionally repaired within reason while certainly out of warranty lol. I would imagine that a repair for something like this might be a little costly to ship it and pay for repairs, but if it could be done, I do believe that it would be well worth it. Yamaha makes many of the greatest music instruments in the world.

You make a good point, and I do actually have a contact at Yamaha. I'll look into it. Cheers!

Love that keyboard. I still say its one of their best. But i have just one question. Can you store midi songs in this keyboard? That was my problem.

Without the display working, I have no way of knowing sorry. But the manual is still available online.

great video as always❤️ just a question - between the roland ep 7, the yamaha psr E323, and the casio WK-200, which do u think is the best buy out of three
I've found them on second hand on the market (all around the same price) im looking to learn how to play and hopefully upgrade later to piano

Glad you liked the video - I'd choose the WK200 out of that selection.
