I think the reason for this is because a lot of artists are worried that if they pay too much attention to detail with their buildups, then it will make the drop seem anticlimactic. There are a couple examples of this, the first one that comes to mind is Mighty's second round against D-low in 2018
I will say this always what makes wings so different from other beat boxers is he's not just an amazing beat boxer but an amazing composer. He knows how to put everything together and make a coherent song out of it rather than just making a bunch of different cool sounds. He's so intentional with his beatboxing.
Wing seems to just wholeheartedly enjoy the whole journey so much, he is all smiles in every video. Abo Ice's reaction at the end is also very wholesome.
dang WING's sounds are just so CLEAN and his compositions so well-crafted... but also his sense of sportsmanship is so underrated, the way he's just vibing, enjoying his competitor's grooves without posturing - we need more of THIS!

I listened ice first time through this GBB and he was one of my favorites this year. So powerful and technical. Hope to see him in the final next year :)
He is very very good, but he will need to learn new sounds and add some new flavors to his beatboxing and sound pallet because now that his style is known, and is not that fresh anymore, he will need it, otherwise it will be too repetitive for the judges I think. He has mastered his sounds, but they're all the same sounds all the time. After a while it gets boring and repetitive...

The hardest thing to do is coming up with a new sound, not routine but new sounds, after all you're one person. If you use old sounds with new routines you will become dominant.
Ice's run was very similar to King Intertia in 2021. Comes on with an explosive new approach and then it just kinda fades out and gets repetitive towards the end of the competition. Huge respect though it was sick to listen to and made the tournament better!

Ice brought a microphone too but he shouldn’t because it’s the second guy coming bringing a microphone x) Talking about the battle, Wing was weak af on the first round, I was kinda like he was out of ideas for this routine, and Ice was more passive and more respectful than the previous battle (river vs Ice) 😇 And for the second round, Wing was insane 😮. He brought many textures with the time ticking and the throat bass at the same time, it was completely awesome, pretty much for the technical part part too, but the lip roll was so smooth 🌊! Ice 🧊’s second round was kinda weird with the break (pause) here and there, it felt like some sounds were missing but intentionaly and it didn’t sound as we would like to. So yeah it was pretty weird. For me, the win of Wing was completely deserved, Ice was a bit repetitive. GG to both competitors, absolute banger
