Before you guys lynch me for not mounting this great shifter on the left side, as we all know that's how the real cars are configured, remember I was raised racing with a right hand shifter. I briefly tried to use it on the left side, but it made for some pretty awkward heel and toe work. And if you buy this shifter, I wanted to make sure you know it works quite well mounted on the right side of your rig too :)
Fair enough if you're from the US and it's natural - but 'thats how the real cars are configured?' Aussie V8 Supercars sit on the right, shift with their left. Anyway, phenomenal piece of kit for sure, great review as always Barry!
Thanks for another great review Barry. I would love to own 1/1000 of the things you have on here. And don't worry about what side it's mounted on. It's on the "right side" for you :)
Team Penske uses this shifter for its simulations and also won the 2018 supercars championship so that should give an idea of the quality of this unit if I had the money I'd buy it.
Just found your channel and i'm really glad that i did, very in-depth look with a nice tone and awesome presentation. Subscribed and keep the good work. cheers from Brazil.
Holy shit that looks like fun! You really are approaching end game on your rig Barry!!! Would love to see you review the MANU Factory Sequential Shifter MF SSH14 next 👏👏👏
Great review Barry...as always! Glad to see someone outside of Australia, finally got around to doing any type of review on a SimWorx related product! Now, at if one had to choose between SimWorx or the Pro Sim (Quaife) Shifter, which one do you go with? :-)
Depending on what type of sequential gearbox you want to emulate. The Pro Sim has a more mechanical action feel to it. The SimWorx is smoother, but still has good tactile feedback. You really need to try both to be sure of what you like best.
Great video as always, Barry! Are planning on reviewing the formula style wheel from precision sim engineering anytime soon? It's an amazing piece of kit, an I'd love to see it go through the SRG review process! Thanks
Very cool. However the market is pretty saturated with sequential shifters. All pretty dang good too. What about H-Patterns? Are they just to complicated to make? I’d really like to see a large selection of H-pattern shifters to choose from. I currently have a Fanatec but it’s still to toy like. There’s no resistance when changing gears. I also can’t afford to spend $2k on a shifter so...
While I agree the market is somewhat saturated w/Sequential Shifters, when it comes to "damn near life like", there's only 3 that I know of...this one, which I myself have been eyeing for some time, the Quaife Sequential Shifter, which I believe Barry did a review on some months ago, and the Many-Factory Porsche GT3-RS replica shifter...
This is a very cool shifter, but what about the feeling of gear engagement? I have a simworx sequential and it dosnt really have an engagement feel.. It's just a firm push and pull. Awesome shifter though. Is this is the same? the actual box part with the buttons look identical. I think I'd like one of these and mount the shifter right up next to the steering wheel, but put the shifter box further back more hidden next to the seat with a longer rod, for a bit more of an authentic look. Looks kinda clunky having it all mounted together.
Simracer #138 confirming this doesn’t feel anything like changing gears. I don’t know why Barry doesn’t mention this... Completely over priced considering that fact. Look at Pro-Sim or others for that feature.
The thing is, unless youve driven a real deal v8 supercar, you have no idea how it's supposed to feel. it may very well feel just how this piece of kit does.
@@mrdobalina3451 I haven't tried this one, but such sn awesome looking beast, easy the coolest looking SQ on the market! But man is it the most underwhelming seeing the insides of that box!! Nothing connected inside, only a rod pushing switches.. .. . Have ordered the Quaife Pro-sim SQ, now they now how shifters should feel! Can't wait!! :D

I share your enthusiasm for aluminum, check out Microtech Knives for a great knife with amazing aluminum handles. Gorgeous piece of kit, curious to see your rally version.
Hey Barry thanks to your review I will be purchasing 1 of these shifters in about 3 weeks could u just list what the profile is that u mounted it on thanks
Barry, how would you compare it to the Manu-Factory one? I own that one and i simply can't imagine this being 3 times as good, because it sure is 3 times as expensive
Do you have any plans on reviewing the Simworx Pro GT V3 pedals? I'd like to know how they compare to the HE Pros as it's about the same price in Australia. Would be interesting to hear someones thoughts that has had experience with both!
How come in the screenshot of SimWorx web site it lists the shifter as weighting 8kg and when you weighed it it was around 5kg. 3kg or 6lbs difference is huge, please explain. Keep up the good work Barry!
And I thought sequential shifters had a long lever that triggered the clutch on upshifts, but couldn't find any evidence of it anywhere. I though some rally cars had that. I'm more ignorant than I think I suppose.
nope, sequential gear boxes dont have syncros, they have what are called dog rings instead that allow the transmission to be banged up and down gears without using the clutch.
Nice piece of machinery and great, professional level video as always but... you completely ruined it as soon as you mounted Aussie's Supercar's shifter on your right side!
To big to expensive to heavy , it’s a monster , I’d not consider purchasing this , small solid & compact by good design is way way better thanks for review
Looks a bit flimsy for my taste:D Some guy said the real Supercar-drivers are using GT3-cars in iRacing for practice... Maybe not true, but a Z4 without lowest aero, ABS and TC could be a handful either and when it's too hard in a sim, it's usually BS.
OK for a lot smaller, but a lot better? where is logic. it is just your imagination? prove it, if you want to say this. or you need to make comparison videos at least. I sometimes wonder where this baseless confidence of simagic product comes from.

Don't stress about it Barry. Excellent review as always 👍
Growing up in the US and now living in Ireland has served me well in this area haha
This is without a doubt one of the most impressive pieces of sim racing kit I have ever seen, thanks for another excellent video Barry.

NewOldStock Racing what H-pattern shifter cost $900?
Sim Racing Insider I’m not looking at it as a negative thing. I’d just like to see an H pattern for every sequential brought to the market.
OhItsThat Sorry. I was referring to the sequential Barry reviewer.
I think you mean Weddle, not Weller. And they don’t make the Albins shifter...Albins make the Albins shifter (made in Australia)
Well done on the review, Barry, as always. But mate, the shifter's on the left side of the steering wheel ;)

Haven't had time to fabricate a mount for my handbrake yet. Hopefully soon though.
Barry, is there an index to all your reviews? Something to see your review of a particular item when needed? Thanks
Hey Barry thanks to your review I will be purchasing 1 of these shifters in about 3 weeks could u just list what the profile is that u mounted it on thanks
Can you please review the Simworx GT LC v3 pedals? I'm keen to hear how they compare to HE. Their rubber design in the brake is totally different.
Barry, how would you compare it to the Manu-Factory one? I own that one and i simply can't imagine this being 3 times as good, because it sure is 3 times as expensive
Never had the chance to use that one, so can't comment.

I'd like to. Just a matter of being able to fund it.

Not sure. All I can do is tell you what the one I got weighed.
Everything weighs more when they are upside down there in 🇦🇺 lol
So SimWorx Pro series Supercar Sequential Shifter vs. Pro-Sim Sequential Shifter? The SimWorx probably looks better and somewhat cheaper.
Lime I’d disagree. The Pro-Sim have a feeling that this simple shifter doesn’t match.
Barry would you like to comment between this SimWorx and Prosim sequential lite ? That would be awesome.
Barry, with this shifter do you get a tactile feeling , like something is actually happening other than just a micro switch being activated ?

The red washers on all the bolts cost pennies on eBay, same with the braided cable sleeve.
Can you use the trustmaster TSSH sequential shifter on the fanatec csl elite wheel or the dd1?
It will not connect directly to Fanatec wheelbases. But you can still use it as a stand alone shifter via USB on a PC.
