I considered buying a new Morgan a few years ago so I did a 24 hr hire for about £250 (great idea from Morgan). I really enjoyed the car and was smiling all the time I drove it - did about 250 miles through Mid Wales on a lovely sunny day. In the end though, it was just too primitive for anything more than a quick blast on a sunny afternoon. The roof is really fiddly too (even the 'easy up' version) - I ended up buying an older Mercedes SL instead. At the time a base model Morgan was around £32k - the cheapest car in the range is now over £60k - which takes it out of reach for traditional Morgan owners..... The family sold out recently to a Venture Capitalist company - co-incidence?
I quite enjoyed this video. It's not so much about the technical details but just what the feeling and experience is like. Who buys a Morgan?... people like me. Saw one at a car show, checked it out, thought I'd really like to get myself one. The problem was that was in 1967, I was seven and my parents were looking at Cortinas and Minis, so it took a while, another 43 years actually, but I bought it, love it, never get tired of looking at it and it will hurt when I have to part with the car some day. Mechanically mine is very different to this car but the quality, the style and to a certain extent the driving is very similar. Shop wisely and they are not too expensive. I highly recommend it. Cheers!
As a +4 driver myself I would have had all same comments... Except those related to the handbreak (I love it) and the one related to the radio (i do not have any and definitely do not want one !). Great to see we share the same passion.
Thank you for the review!! Really full of spirit and tells you all about the car. I've been on a Morgan binge, and people who don't understand, won't understand.
I share a 2009 Plus 4 with my partner having owned 4/4 for 7 years. We agree with you that it is an excellent car and a considerable improvement on the 4/4. I would like to take issue with you regarding the instrumentation. I consider that the instrument layout on the 2007 Plus 4 is better with the speedometer and Rev counter in front of the driver. My 2009 model had the speedo opposite the passenger and rev counter in front of the driver. I had the 2 swapped over so I’m less likely to get caught speeding. I raised the instrument layout issue with Morgan but, unsurprisingly, have not had a satisfactory answer. A very good, enjoyable and enthusiastic report thank you.
You're a awesome host and the video editing is well done!! If you have a lavalier microphone you will instantly increase the audio quality. All the best to you and looking forward to see your next video!
What a lovely machine for people with too much money. It's a win for the fine craftsman at Morgan, and a win for those that need to show off the fact that they don't need practical automobiles like the hoi polloi does. A win win .
You do an excellent in depth and driver's eye review - keep it up. The sound on the Roadster review had a few problems, and the music didn't help, I'm sure that you are on to that now. Which did you prefer, Plus 4 or Roadster, and why?
Not just a name, just is! .Is purer coincidence that I find these cars ,Plus4's ,3 Wheelers alike,,everything out 'that' factory says British-Unique & Delectable. Motorist yearn & envy of anyone drivin one,, let alone own one. If I win Lotto the order goes in, 1 for me, one for Dad. 😎🤪 (If not a big enuff win, grab one for Dad, he deserves one!!!)😏
Beautiful car, now with a proper engine and chassis. Shame it's only a 5 speed box, these cars tend to get used over a weekend with some mileage, luggage notwithstanding and Mazda do make a very compact 6 speed. I wonder if it's an option? Radio and heater vents are slightly ridiculous - i.e. might as well not be there. Surely something better than this could be improvised? With the sidescreens off the interior is usually subject to severe buffeting above about 30mph. Was this the situation here or have they managed to way a magic wand at air flow? Good review, and although it may not sound like it I love the cars. Real British skills and engineering.
Enjoyed the review. I’m curious how tall a fella you are? You seem on the tall side in the video and the cockpit seems fairly small so I’m curious if a taller gent would fit in a Morgan. I’m 6’3”
Those bags hold the side screens not the doors and when you slide the side screen bags across the surface of the paint it scratches the shit out of the clear coat.
I'll have to find a good used one. I read that the new Morgans come with paddle-shift only; no stick, no cutch. For my money, that makes it only 4/5 of a two- seat, rear wheel drive, roadster sports car. Or maybe I'll just hang with my Miata.
This is the classiest car there is : Looong hood, swooping fenders, and quality all around . Plenty of power from a little 2 liter engine. Perfect seating, low and snug . Im drooling . Only thing though, mate, that country music is awful . How about some violin sonata to go with the car's style .
Sometimes it is isn't a bad idea to not have air-bags. Particularly when they are faulty, contributing to your injury and death in the event of an accident! With the air-bag recall fuckup within the automotive sector and regulatory framework, it can be concluded that there are laws that reward those selling products that don't necessarily match the sales pitch!
For some apparent reason Morgan have been ignoring me since the beginning of this year maybe it’s the new ownership. Many thanks for your comment and if anything changes hopefully we will get some more morgan cars to review
This is the greatest standing too far away from the microphone video to the point where you can't hear anything and then I had to quit watching because well what's the point of listening to something you can't hear. Kudos
Would have been better to show closer details of the car, with just a voiceover. I saw more of his face, and arms waving around, than the Brilliant Morgan. What a shame! Will have to look at another review like " HARRY'S GARAGE ", to get a real feel for this car.
I guy I knew was on the waiting list for a Morgan for years, when it finally arrived he managed to smear himself over the tarmac and trees on his first outing. At least he owned it before he died.
That’s a very interesting comment and I shall put the question to the guys at Morgan and hopefully get a reply from them so I can feed it into the conversation
@@AJThePlayerUA-camChannel Great! I liked both your video and the car a lot - but stretching the options list by dropping essential safety features from the base model is just not on….
" If you love British, if you voted out of the EU, then this car is for you! " Hilarious comment given that Morgan has now been sold to Italian investors. Brexit is going to devastate the UK economy and especially its motor industry - as we are already seeing. Morgan will survive in Malvern because its a niche product but it will have to raise its prices considerably for many reasons.
The UK has/had the 5th largest motor industry in the EU even though it was mostly foreign owned. It employs/employed a huge number of people in the primary industry and in the hundreds and thousands of secondary and tertiary suppliers around the major plants.
what a totally ridiculous thing to say. Before we joined the Common Market we had one of the words largest and most successful car industries. It just wasn't (and isn't) in the interests of the Germans for us to be a successful manufacturing industry, so they have planned and managed to successfully de-industrialise us (and often using our own money). All this seamless JIT processing is only possible in the EU single market. Overnight on leaving the EU SM this all stops. All goods will now have to be inspected each time they cross the birder and customs and import duties paid. Cars will face a 10% tariff to be sold in the EU. All the manufacturers based in the UK did so because the UK was in the EU SM and they are now leaving because they need to stay as part of the EU wide network and the market is much bigger. I've had a few Morgan's over the past 4 decades but the new ones do nothing for me anymore so I'll stick with the AH3000.

I wouldn’t mind a drive of a Morgan one day just to see what it’s like but I would never consider buying one .
If you call Morgan sales They will arrange a test drive for you for no charge it’s well worth it and a visit to Maldon is also well worth it
The real frame or chassis is made of steel, not wood. The wood just supports the aluminum bodywork.
