Having owned a Westfield 7 (not quite as refined as the Morgan!) all I can say about these sort of cars is that it’s not about the times or acceleration or comparisons, it’s about the experience. You can put a bunch of REAL petrolheads in 30 mph go-karts and they’ll have the time of their lives because the sensation is just fantastic. These type of cars are road going equivalents. You feel like you’re flying and speed, timings or 0-60 comparisons don’t matter… you just grin from start to finish 👏👏👏
Loved going up to the factory. The last time was late 2018 to see my +4 being made, it was waiting outside ready to go into the leather shop. You could talk to any of the craftsman, one of them even gave me a marker pen to sign and date the ash frame before it went into the trim shop.😊
I loved my visit to Morgan and love the engineering involved, seeing the metamorphosis of the emerging car as you move around the factory. The place is from an era of pride in the skill of the individual artisans who build with their hands, rather than the mass production of the modern idiom. Brilliant.
Great review of the + 4. You captured the essence of why we all love driving a car that thoroughly connects you with the road and your surroundings. The beautiful English countryside made me long for another trip to your island from my flat (but warm) Florida home. Sadly, the inevitable move to electrification will make these kind of drives rare events in the future.
Very nice review. Just bought a brand-new PlusFour myself as a "replacement" for my 33 years old 4/4-4 seater (which stays nevertheless), but what a different world compared to the old 4/4. Enough power for me, manual gearbox, far more better chassis and handling than the old traditional. I especially like the classic looks of the PlusFour, rather than the more aggressive appearance of the PlusSix, which is overpowered for me!
Super proud to have started working for this company. If you love the smell of wood and seeing true British manufacturing at its best.... then I can honestly say, you will not be disappointed. Super friendly staff that will answer any of your questions as you watch them bring together this amazing car....As you go through the factory, you'll watch everything from the engine being introduced, the wood ash frame being hand built, the aluminium structure being hand crafted, the leather seats and embroidery being created by hand.... Really does make you feel proud to be British.. Sorry, slightly biased.... :)
Had a day at the factory many years ago. Steve (MD) even bought us lunch. Burbled around the place in V8s and three wheelers, was a lovely day. Somebody else has probably already said this, but BMW have been providing engines to Morgan for years. Admittedly the 4 pots are quite recent though.
Great to see that Morgan still produce these handmade gems that look like they've not been designed by computer (although they probably have). Looking forward to the hairy chested version! 👍
There’s something very special indeed about these beautifully engineered cars👌❤️. Absolutely loved this video Peter, and this took me back many years, and brought a huge smile to my face. Thank you for sharing 👍
You are the luckiest man on the planet! I can remember the first time I saw a Morgan when I was quite young. I lived in the US and had never seen one before let have ever heard the name before. . And I was amazed because it had a leather 'belt' across the hood (bonnet) and It was love at first sight. They also have a new very sleek and modern model but the original look is simply full of nostalgia and class. I wish I could afford to buy one but that doesn't dim my admiration for this marvelous machine. If I ever had the chance to get behind the wheel as you've done, I'll bet I'd wet my pants before I got out of first gear! Thanks for the treat.
Great video. I go to Morgan quite often for events and it's a great place. The factory tour is well worth it. Plus 4 manual in a dark metallic green, with cream interior and heated seats would suit me fine.
My retirement dream car. Visited the factory many years ago and just loved the hand built nature of the cars, no two cars are the same, each panel is bespoke. Great video Pedro.
Lovely little slice of of the heritage meeting the 21st century, Morgan’s always get the thumbs up from passers by , as you say , it’s a friendly car .
I borrowed one of these for 24 hours: it was brilliant! One of those cars that is quick, but not too quick and great fun to drive at normal road speeds. It also makes you feel like a mix between Bulldog Drummond and Nigel Havers; like there is an adventure and a pretty girl just around the next corner...
Great car, I used to have the old Alfa Romeo Spider, had the same feeling but I a, talking right back in the 70’s! Thanks for another great presentation.
Very nice, my parents have owned two the last being a +8 but speaking to my dad his preference was the less powerful version as he could use all of its performance he found the +8 a bit intimidating. So your point is valid, I think its a different story with a Caterham as, like you, I was happy with 145 bhp but the handling suggested a bit more power could be fun.
I waited seven years for my first Morgan. The ACTUAL waiting list (at Allon White) was 21 years! But they relied on two out of three customers dropping out.
I’ve been enjoying your videos but this one made me click subscribe. I’m a Porsche guy but, I want a Morgan. If I didn’t have two kids in university… Your smile says it all.
Beautiful, hand built machines. Keeping those original looks with modern running gear definitely the right thing to do 👍. Looking forward to the plus 6 vid Pete
Those are some fantastic looking cars Sir Pete!!! The one man one chassis is crazy to me but so cool. The craftsmanship involved gives a huge amount of respect desire and just wow factor to these cars. Those old wire wheel designs are amazing. That blue color was very pretty in the sunlight. Can’t wait for video 2! Thank u for sharing this with us Sir Pete!
The Ped grin was there from the minute you sat in it and said this is great! The video brought to life a dismal winters day, your commentary complimented the car beautifully. For me, the Plus 4 manual would be the car for me😎 Morgan under new ownership have managed to keep all of the heritage, but married it to a superb BMW powertrain. Last thought, always hood down, that’s what Barbour and Belstaff jackets are made for 👍🇬🇧😎
No surprise your face was carrying a fixed grin, I’ve owned 6 Morgan’s and love them. To be fair this was a very balanced opinion video, good to see. My friend who’s also had a few mogs, recently bought an auto plus 4 which he reckons is better than the manual, it’s certainly quicker on acceleration. Hope you were careful with the plus 6, lots of new owners have ended up going through a hedge backwards because of the power. When I test drove it I was like a midlife, very delicate touch. I’ll stick with my 98 plus 8 4.6, can’t just justify 60 oddgrand for a toy. Looking forward to seeing the plus 6 video.
Just recently been in the factor tour, Pete. Excellent day. The new super 3 is really growing on me! It’s funny you fit well at 6”3, my dad had real visibility issues at the same height..eye line on the vanity mirror! Video only at 480p?!
They had BMW engines in the older Aero 8 series of cars as well. I did the tour there 2 years ago and I've got a piece of the ash wheel arch framed in my living room.
@@PetrolPed after touring the factory in 2019, when I came home to the US I looked into buying an Aero Super Sport. They're rediculously expensive here (at the time they were selling for $250k when they were about half of that in Europe). There are only about 30 or so in the US (all early production) and because of the US import laws its not easy to bring one in (or else I'd have imported a 2015 from somewhere)
I think you should be unlocking the purse strings…. It is obvious that you both would enjoy such an iconic brand as a forever ICE sports car….looking forward to the plus 6 to see which direction!
Awesome review and what a motor would deffo be on my 10 car garage list ,,.. that or the 3 wheeler! Can imagine the smiles per gallon from that are amazing
when l was at the Morgan factory about 6 years ago the guy was on about the limitless interior options and a quote that l will never forget. Morgan is the only car manufacturer in the world that can take real wood and make it look like plastic

I can remember the days of the 5 year waiting list and knew someone who always ordered another car each time he collected a new one. ( I like the way you have done the edit as I am familiar with all those roads!)
Looks great and your enthusiasm is infectious but..... its not everyday practical luggage wise and for that money you can get into a nice second hand 911 cab. Sadly I'm not rich enough to afford both.
What a gorgeous car! Thanks for a great drive. I wish I could stop by and order one. (That would be a bit difficult for me being in Oregon, USA.) Question: What exactly is that popping when in sport mode? I know some cars pop like that when downshifting, but that one seems to pop randomly. Any ideas?

Peter….I like the colour and the smiles that the Plus 4 gives….the Plus 6 will be interesting but I have a slight feeling that in a week of so’s time, Tracey will be looking over your shoulder as you work through the configurator!!!….for a Plus 4…!!!🧐😬😬😎😎😎
Very enjoyable film Ped. Would love a Morgan, they are beautiful. Will watch the Plus 6 one tomorrow. Since it has a Mini engine in it would be rude not to have a few pops and bangs 🙂
I'm glad to hear the new Plus 4 you are driving can accommodate a 6ft 3 you. :) Unfortunately for me my fiends year 2000 " I think " Rover engine must of had less room. :(
I was considering buying a 1970 Camaro as my first car. I made up my mind: I'm getting a Morgan, regardless of it's the Plus Four or the Plus Six, that remains to be seen… but I'm getting a Morgan definitely.
Another enjoyable watch. Not a car I would consider for myself but that would maybe change if I ever had the experience of driving one personally. I have a friend who's father in law lets him drive his and he raves about it and he is in his early 20's. I will maybe hold my final opinion until I see and hear your thoughts on the more powerful one.
My dream is to drive an open Morgan in northern Norway in the night when the aurora borealis is glowing over the head in minus twenty degrees. I'm from there, and there was also a Danish guy who had a Morgan 4/4. A four seater, he drove it also when it was minus forty degrees cold.
Good review , i have the same with the autobox . This is my fourth morgan and by every aspects the better. You loose the simplicity of the trad , but the suspension is so much better . By the way i have changed the wiper blades for better ones. I am waiting for the review of the plus6 , but you will see that you need to be a good driver due to the amount of power and the torque available.
@@PetrolPed Thanks, Ped. Just to state the obvious, if you did want a bit more poke, I'm sure this BMW I4 engine can be tuned to deliver whatever performance you think you need, and beyond. I'd just make sure to try one in the dry on roads you know, before deciding whether it's too slow. I think the idea is to be able to enjoy revving it to the max, rather than being frustrated that you can't even rev it to the max in second, as in a modern supercar. Seems to me that you may want a custom tune to deliver more torque lower down while still being able to put the power down without problems, while still being able to rev it out in second and third without putting your licence in too much danger. Anyway, best of luck with everything!
A mate of mine has an 1983 Morgan and he loves it. He brings it into work during the summer and for an old girl, it looks fantastic. I wonder if Mrs McVitie would consider a Morgan if she decides to trade in the Abarth 124…… “oh, darling……???” 😆
Morgan recipe: many smiles per miles. I own an old 3.9 plus 8 for 15 years. Love it so much. I love the fact that Morgan kept the traditional shape of the car but with modern underneath. Evolution instead revolution. This new plus four could be the perfect complement to my plus 8 that I never want to sell. Just have to make some place in the garage now..

Thanks so much for these two videos on the Morgan’s! One of my dream cars to own….love your channel and the way you review😎👍🇦🇺🇬🇧🏁
Evening all! Hope everyone has had a good week.
And the very same to you and yours too 😃

Cheers Mark 👍
I’m pleased you get Morgan’s Peter, it’s all about fun, smiles per mile!

Like the Plus 4, we'll see how the 6 is...
Nice "documentary" on the Morgan. Richard Hammond would love this 😀
👍
Evening all, another great video PP. Can see you and Mrs PP driving through the countryside on your way for a lunch out! Great cars great factory!
So can I 😂
Beautiful car and I think the word "enjoyment" fits is perfectly.
'It's a real driving experience' but I haven't driven it yet. Sounds like an unbiased review to me.

That will be the new chassis and suspension set up of the CX model 👍
A car I've always been interested in owning maybe one day i will part ex the f type. Look forward to the +6 vid.
Looks great and your enthusiasm is infectious but..... its not everyday practical luggage wise and for that money you can get into a nice second hand 911 cab. Sadly I'm not rich enough to afford both.

Question: What exactly is that popping when in sport mode? I know some cars pop like that when downshifting, but that one seems to pop randomly. Any ideas?
Great Vid Good to see historic named manufactured vehicles, produced here ! love the use of the wood and ash especially, being a carpenter myself! but i would want a little more saw dust than 250 BHP, but not a deal breaker , look forward to the bigger brother video !
Lucky PED again and yes very special car and temptation to buy second car .. Thanks 👍
👍
Long may this beautiful British car continue to be built as it is!
Indeed 👍
Thanks Ped looking forwards to the plus 6 vid now
I'd love a Morgan Plus 4, I also wouldn't mind a go in the 3 wheeler, they look like fun but not sure i could buy one. That said i can't aford the plus for so i'll just stick to smilling when i see one drive by.

Thanks Dan 👍
When I lived in London in the late 70's I wanted to buy a Morgan. The deposit was a bit of an issue but it was the wait and unfortunately the Canadian Safety laws that prevented me from acquiring one. Still Like them. Own an '81 Porsche 911 now. Fab!

Absolutely fantastic video, such a classic looking car and one of the reasons they put the Great in Great Britain. Just love them.
Thanks David 👍
Evening pal, I like the look of Spoke wheels, just wouldn’t want to clean them.
Exactly 😳
Very enjoyable film Ped. Would love a Morgan, they are beautiful. Will watch the Plus 6 one tomorrow.
Since it has a Mini engine in it would be rude not to have a few pops and bangs 🙂
Did the factor tour a few years back, such a special place. One thought though, I’m sure the V8 ones have been BMW for a long time?
They have indeed 👍
I'm glad to hear the new Plus 4 you are driving can accommodate a 6ft 3 you. :) Unfortunately for me my fiends year 2000 " I think " Rover engine must of had less room. :(
The new CX platform was designed to take a larger driver 👍
Great review Ped. Cracking little car.
Thanks John 👍
It's a pity the Plus 6 isn't an N/A six, that would be awesome.
It's to replace the Plus 8, so needed to keep similar power levels.
I was considering buying a 1970 Camaro as my first car. I made up my mind: I'm getting a Morgan, regardless of it's the Plus Four or the Plus Six, that remains to be seen… but I'm getting a Morgan definitely.
Wonderful, so tempted to get a manual plus 4.
😬👍
Morgan, just about the only ICE-age car that I could imaging in my garage!

Nice Ride on the Plus Four. Wait till you test drive the Plus Six!
👍
My dream is to drive an open Morgan in northern Norway in the night when the aurora borealis is glowing over the head in minus twenty degrees. I'm from there, and there was also a Danish guy who had a Morgan 4/4. A four seater, he drove it also when it was minus forty degrees cold.
Great video Peter, I don’t think you stop smiling all the way through driving that car. So I guess you will be turning up in about four months.😆😆😆
I wish 😢
You wouldn't have got in so easy had it been the 1977 +8,
I believe since that time the cockpit was made bigger.
Well worth visiting the factory for a tour. Great day out.
Sure is 👍
An ASBO Morgan, who knew! Always been pretty little things (apart from the cross-eyed one they brought out, the Aero 8. That was a bit fugly).
Could see you in one of these Pete - Classic Theme - great performance - Drop Top - what’s not to like? 😃👍
Tempting 👍
Good review , i have the same with the autobox . This is my fourth morgan and by every aspects the better. You loose the simplicity of the trad , but the suspension is so much better . By the way i have changed the wiper blades for better ones.
I am waiting for the review of the plus6 , but you will see that you need
to be a good driver due to the amount of power and the torque available.
Wiper blade upgrade would be a must 😜👍
Evening all 👋
Evening Ben! How’s things?
Good thanks@@francoisg3500. You well?
@@benhigginson9763 I’m well thanks.
Plus Four, very nice. Bring on the Plus Six!
With your comments of you enjoying your Caterham. I know you will love the Plus 6.
Maybe 🤔 😜😂
@@PetrolPed looking forward to seeing your next video. 👍😁
8:12 this shot angle makes me wonder when the car manufacturers lost their way.
A quality product and nicely filmed Ped do they still make the Aero 8 always liked them in black.👍
No. I don’t think so 👎
This is ace Pete , I Love these so much .. Your face says it all !! I'm watching episode 2 now👍👍😁😁
Great 👍
I love Morgan plus series cars.
Morgan in general are fantastic british built cars if not second to TVR.
So, when is the Plus- Four going to get to North America? NEED this !!
Not sure 🤔
I'll accept positive rumors. If they get here one of these would be my third Mog since 1998 and my last. Standard transmission only, of course.
I note that with the 8sp auto box the engine delivers significantly more torque, so maybe the robustness of manual box is a limitation?
This really suits you! And unlike a super car, this can be exploited on British roads, and it's still special, and at the high end of bespoke.
Indeed 👍
👍
