The school in question is famous because of their strong stance of no religion in the school. So the girl's family chose to enroll her in a school that has been open about this for years and then said it's discrimination.
If praying is that important then it can wait till you get home. It's says so in the book...you can pray later if circumstances can't allow you to pray at the required time.😊

You also forgot to say that the students, instead of finding somewhere private which would have been okay, were blocking major walking areas of the school, which then becomes a safety hazard. That, plus the moslem students who were praying were guilting and bullying the moslem students who weren’t.
The headmistress was absolutely correct. Should they have wanted, they could have gone to a faith school, and not a non-denominational one.
They were not blocking major walking areas of the school, why are you spreading lies.

Genuinely curious about where you are getting this information from?
@@theythemgae9025it was in the court documents And reported by the BBC
Praying in private would have been OK as long as not a ritual and they didnt gather in groups larger than 4. So in effect no, there is nowhere on school grounds they would be allowed to pray because Muslim prayers are by definition ritual prayers.
An important bit of context is that prayer rituals were banned after some muslim students were attacking and intimidating other muslim students who did join them for prayers. The girl in question was even suspended for it.
I mean you're missing out the context that the school was sent threats because the praying students were praying in a place visible from the road and that they banned the practice of visible or "performative" prayer because of the threats

It's less being a religious minority and more so the headmaster having a difficult time trying to accommodate for everyone regardless.
From other comments, those in the muslim faith were bullying others for practising their prayers during school hours. The girl at the centre of the lawsuit was suspended for it.
So it would make sense to make the educated decision to ban prayer during school hours so as to minimise conflict and risk alienating other students.
The headteacher must also act in accordance with the law to not discriminate against those with islamic faiths, and the ban on prayer during school hours has no meaningful impact on them because they have "make up prayers" they can do later on.
They can't stop that's all they got.. over privilege Muslim with victim mentality tsk tsk tsk.

Do not pray in public
Pray home or at mosque period.
The girl had zero problems with Christian students not being able to pray,so tough luck girl,
so long as the school bans all rituals from all religions it’s not discrimination. and it keeps all students in class not making exceptions for group and not others.
I actually saw one of her interviews where she explained where, some Muslim students practiced fully the Islamic faith, especially in the school. When prayers became more and more prevalent, the students that were not practising were made to feel that they should be by the students that did practice. In other words, they use bullying tactics to get the non-practicing Muslims to do what they want, which included prayer. I say congratulations to the school for being able to win this. You don’t want your children to this school because you can’t practice your prayers, I say good, go to a different school.
They keep a strict regime of snitching and hunting each other in my country, natural making women victims if they try to get a divorce or get help again violence..It's absolutely horrible
Exactly! Islam is not Evangelical but rather has a goal of FORCING people to convert to islam! Just like what happened during ramadan a few months ago where a Muslim man was berating a non-muslim woman for eating her lunch on the bus while he was fasting.
Yeah once I looked into the topic I felt like the headmaster was making the Correct decision, they even have vegetarian meals so every single student can eat the same exact food
And they don't break up lunch meal by student race all the students eat together

well, you should be taught about politics like your political system and so on. personal political opinions should be kept out of there
You can learn about ALl of them in school but not practice them.
You literally can't, otherwise you wouldn't be able to teach language or history, or arts, or music, or biology, probably physics and chemistry would also be affected, and more.
But you can remove the personal element, so, no indoctrination, just show what it is, if they, for example, want to show christian myths they can, in the historic context, same with Muslim myths, Greek Roman mythology, Nordic mythology, etc. that is different from making people participate in those cults.
Well done to the school for not bending over like everyone else does

Do Islam allow religious practice without discrimination of other religions?
I sense hypocrisy

Also, with very few exceptions, all the students are immigrants, many of them Hindus and Buddhists. The “no prayer” rule, combined with vegetarian meals allows the students to mix and mingle freely, to develop friendships and relationships across color and religion.
Everyone gives up something to be a part of this excellent school, which they are free to opt out of.

But you’ve just said that the students have vegetarian food as an option yourself? That would be done to meet the eating requirements of Sikh, Buddhist and Hindu people. For the many people arguing that the school isn’t religious and such they also as others have said take Christmas and Easter holidays. @@harismohammad2005 Yes, the vegetarian food is made as an option for students with religious requirements. But please note that its a "neutral" option. @@francisbrewster4948 fundamentalist or not that student who was comfortable bullying someone anyways wasn't gonna magically be kind if there wasn't religious grounds. Some kids are just arses and teaching them how to treat other people and behave is important.
The head teacher wasn't really targeting the real issue behind the bullying which was that the other kid felt like they knew better and that it's their job to interfere because people aren't doing what you want, the head teacher let that kid continue to think about religion that way and can still treat people outside of school (or in school because its not really gonna stop them) the same way.
The best thing to do would have been to talk it out together explaining that just because one person belives something doesn't mean everyone should be forced to follow.

Schools should always be secular, religion can stay within the confines of home and place of worship.
Muslims have to pray 5 times a day (takes about 5 minutes) basically like a toilet break or at work like smoke breaks, I think it’s horrible she cannot pray, she doesn’t harm anyone or bother anyone.
Secularism isn’t a good thing. Non-Muslims however will always be okay with it and the effects it causes. And non-Muslims will also never understand the importance of prayer either.

If it's non faith then this is stupid and parents should pay the legal costs
That’s why we have religious schools for parents who want their children to educate as well as to observe their faith
I think the parent in this case wanted her cake and wanted to eat it as well tbh This is one of the best performing schools in the UK. It's also one of the strictest. That works, they get fantastic outcomes for their pupils. Muslim schools won't get anywhere close to the results of this school. Which is why, even after the loss at court the unnamed pupil will b staying at the school by choice.
Good. Let her go to a school where she can pray all she wants, and leave this school to follow its clearly defined ethos. Her parents knew which school she was going to, and still they thought that they could force the hand of the headmistress. Tolerance does not mean tolerating stupidity, and humanity does not mean turning a blind eye.
The school is absolutely clear that there won’t be any prayer on their premises. If a person went to a Church and took them to court because the person was not allowed to call the Azan there, is the Church at fault? If a person went to a nursery school and demanded that their 15 year old get admission and it was discrimination if they didn’t because they were a minority, it is just as idiotic.
To all those folk talking about oh, it’s just a little prayer - go and see what ruckus was being caused by that group of students and their parents; there are numerous interviews and reports on how the teachers were harassed at their homes and threatened. When prayer is used as a mask for violence and hatred, there is no place for it in British society. And when a secular institution seeks to protect its clearly articulated secular ethos, that is exactly their right to do so.

Theres no problem with banning prayer in school. The problem js when its done specifically to muslim students.
If the school is "no-faith", than they should not promote anything of any faith, including christmas, easter etc..
Why should the school have days off on those holidays if it is "no-faith"?
It is not right to claim "no-faith" when it comes to a 5 minute prayer, but when it comes to your own holidays and practices, its fine to shut down the whole school, even when majority of the students there do not celebrate christmas, etcc
@@Happy-gv5kkchristmas and easter have become secular hollydays as they were used by seculars to define the hiatus or break from each semester (not done in colege, but highschool).

As a muslim I am saying that we live in a country where our faith is not a part of the law. If a muslim wishing to pray in an institution within this country that says while you’re there your not allowed to, is not granted permission and they make a fuss about it. Perhaps they should go to a country that has their faith embedded within their law. There are many developed countries in today’s day and age that use the Shariah law. Go there
