Looks great! i would have removed the popcorn ceiling in the dining room as well, This would be more appealing to the eye for a continuous cohesive look.

In my kitchen which was very similiar in style i took the old lower cabinet, and integrated them in my own style. Almost ten years after i m still happy with it. Sometimes good solutions are not as far away. And someone should look after sustainability.

So many great ideas and tips! I've only typically seen the wooden chevron as wall decor or as a headboard. Never as an island top! That's such an amazing and gorgeous idea 😍

That island is TOTALLY a show stopper .. I absolutely love it!! We just redid our ensuite and I used similar tiles on our feature wall!
Looks amazing! Kudos to your sister and brother-in-law for dealing with a big reno with a baby. We moved with a 6 month old, and have completely renovated our house in the past 6 months. It isn't easy. We stop while the baby is napping. Some days I had to go for long walks to get out of the dust. Plus with the pandemic, there are less places to just go when you want to get away from the renovation.
They were troopers for sure! LOL

Thanks for sharing this transformation with us. Oh to be young again. I used to do some of the things that you and hubby did. Now I'm not able and it is frustrating.

WOWZA! Fantastic job and was really pleased to see how the grout worked out because I'm starting my own reno soon! So happy to have highlighted products I can get here in Canada! I'm sure time was an issue but I bet your brother wishes he had gotten you to do the ceiling in the dining room at the same time - the smooth ceiling looks so much fresher and more current. Y'all totally transformed Nathan and Ashley's kitchen! It looks AWESOME! I really like the placement of the stove and refrigerator and the surrounding cabinets and especially the mouldings. The back splash is pretty too. At first I did not like the Chevron pattern on the island, but when it was completed I had to admit that it is really beautiful! It is the focal point. Really nice. I was wrong.

Looks very nice! They are both blessed to have you two do this install! Don’t spill red wine or grape juice, strawberries on the laminate countertop, it will stain permanently. Just Some learned info. Good job on the install. You helped them save a ton of money.installing a kitchen, labor alone costs more than the cabinets cost.

What a huge difference, it's so nice! I love that island top, it's gorgeous. I had my kitchen redone about 14 years ago, unfortunately I think it needs to be updated already. It's amazing how much style and your personal taste can change in that amount of time.

Wow! Looks great! I would continue the updates with painting the doors in hallways and the brown trim around them... as well as the window wood moldings! Renovation always makes the other areas of the house that might feel tired and needing a brightening just reveal themselves. I fix something and then say... I need more!

I'm not going to lie, I rarely like transitional, but you two really pulled it off. The kitchen matches the rest of the house well from what I can see, and it's a really nice mix of old and new elements with the dark cabinets, subway tile, the bar stools and the lamps.
