So fucking groovy. The first minute was like early DEVO. Then the r2d2 segents - classy and classic. Loved the tb-3 interaction. Subscribed. You're awesome. Gotta get me a B2600.
Sure! In a nutshell, The Arturia Beatstep Pro is playing 2 Sequences on Channel 1&2 in parallel. One for the 3 Note Arpeggio and the other for the longer bass notes. Pitch CV of the bass sequence is patched to VCO 2 and the gate goes to the s/h clock input for the envelopes. The other sequence is only sending Pitch CV to VCO 3, but the gate output from this sequence was used for the S/H (EXT CLK IN) on the 2600. S&H is patched to the filter frequency via a fader. The VCF is modulated with the ADSR set to a longer decay time and low sustain level. LFO is patched to VCO2 PWM in.
Just mainly as a general question. It’s probably a stupid Question because it’s The ARP 2600 but I’m curious why I see a lot of 2600 videos combined with other devices
@@7thhouserecords437 Not a stupid question, no. Some of the sounds in this video are using the clock from the 2600 to sync the external sequence and others use the clock of the sequencer. Depending on the combination both is possible.
Thanks so much for taking time to do all the sound demos! Extra points for the R2D2 cameo... *You have probably been asked this before, but how do you like the B2600 so far? On everybody’s youtubes, it tends to sound good to me with the filter closed, but kind of smeary/distorted/cheap with the filter open (and/or maybe I’m hearing how it sounds with high resonance)... a kind of spitty sound I don’t like. But I haven’t played the instrument in person. Any thoughts?
It’s always better to judge by yourself when you play the synth. All the demos on UA-cam show that the use cases and sounds with this can be very different. It’s a very capable semimodular Synth with a vast range of sounds from clean to totally messed up.
Thanks! Yes, fully compatible to other gear that uses cv. Most is in the range from 0-10V (V/Oct) and the triggers/gates have a threshold around 5V. Theres some specs in the quick start manual.
@@zorancalic65 Sure, you can do that. There are just some modules on the 2600 (these are S/H out, KB Trig out, Env Follower output, according to the manual) that go up to 14 Volts - so you need to make sure that the inputs you want to connect these outputs to can handle more than 10 Volts or use an Attenuator in between.
REALLY cool patches and sounds here. I like what you're doing! And this is the first video I've ever come across of yours as well; first time encountering your channel. Since I enjoyed this thoroughly - Subscribed with all notifications 😬👍 I will now proceed to checkout every other video on your channel lol. Cheers! *EDIT:* Looks like all of your videos are under 10 minutes. You may want to consider creating some 10 min+ videos, just so when you hit subscriber & view counts that enable monitizing your content, you're able to take advantage of that straight away. Now, I realize every Synth channel's goals aren't necessarily making money; it's more for the love & fascination with the gear & the sounds, etc. But, I feel if you're allowed/able to make even a few bucks here and there doing things you'd already be doing for free anyway: why not! 🤷♂️
Hey that R2-D2 sound is the closest to the original that I’ve heard so far across all the UA-cam videos proclaiming to make one! Would you mind making a short video about that, or just posting the patch somehow? Just preparing for when the Gray Meanie becomes available… this 2600 looks like so much fun!
Thank you for the comment. That patch is not too complicated but it really needs to be performed to get there. I‘ll make a step by step walkthrough if I find the time. In a nutshell I was using the external input with a microphone and modulated some parameters with the envelope follower and moved certain sliders by hand while reading a text, in this case a News website, into the mic 😁
I agree with everyone who says it does not sound like an ARP 2600. It really doesn't. But it's a low cost synth that you can get fairly good sounds out of, and that's obviously the most important thing.
Love the R2 clean up intermission! Great tracks Tom!
Sweet patches man, especially that first one, absolutely mint !
beautiful swells so warm. love the analog ! nice vid bro

Thanks a lot! Such a nice comment, I feel flattered!
Wow ... that's really crazy stuff! Shows really the great possibilities of this semimodular synth. I'm looking forward to jam with the 2600 ;-)
use the y-usb-adapter (even only for power reasons) for the arturia to get rid of the noise
Thanks. Meanwhile I know it…I only noticed the noise after the recording and then it was too late. But hey, look at the channel name😉
i have a TD3 been thinking about a 2600 thanks for the demo!
The r2d2 skits r awesome love the tunes too!
Nice! Thanks for an enlightening demo.
I've been waiting soooo long to get mine. Slightly hopeful this month :)
when is official release? i phoned my local synth vendorshop but they said they have absolutely no clue

Great patching! Well done! Will try these out at home. :)

Cool R2D2
wow, great sound mate!! awesome 🤩👍👍!! many regards, stay safe!!
Great demos
Awesomeness
R2D2 really knows what it is doing.
nice sounds
*The patch at **1:13** can you explain exactly how you did that?*

@@tomnoise23 *THANK YOU im going to try this tonight*
the patch from 2:00 sounds like some bodzin stuff :)
Is this only the b2600 reverb or you got some other effects on this?
The reverb was the internal one plus a little RC24 from NI
Sounds excellent
Excellent! I suscribed! 😃
Nice Swing keyboard... wait a minute!
:)
LMFAO 😂
Is an external device needed to trigger the arpeggios? Or can the Arp do it by itself?
Depends … Which sound in the video are you referring to?

Hey that's killer. I have not been able to find out anywhere, but are the patch points CV compatible to other synths?
