Deadmaus’ arpeggiated progression is great, but your patch and the way you modulate it gives the tune urgency and takes me on a journey. Gets better every time I listen. ❤️
Excellent. I've one arriving tomorrow. I'm an old school piano, Rhodes, Hammond, guitar player and recording engineering thingie - but recently the synth thing has hit me as a chance to reinvigorate my creativity. It looks a ton of fun too...

Just over a year ago and being a bedroom guitarist for many years I stumbled upon one of your synth reviews and while not starting me on my synth interest it definitely accelerated me down the rabbit hole of which I happily fell, so now having a better understanding of how subtractive synth work it makes watching this so much more enjoyable and impressive. Damn you. I just bought 10 (yes 10) pieces of musical equipment in 2 weeks and had successfully convinced myself that should be enough for restarting making music. I was eyeing the 2600 as well but decided thatI have really enough gear now and should start rtfm the existing pieces. But now after listening to this I need this one as well. That is just such an amazing sound. So instead of a groove box, 1 synth and a small keyboard I am now equipped with 2 tables full of hardware synths I really have no clue yet how to use. But I am happy...
Oh also, I highly recommend you take notes on programming and patches using Microsoft Onenote. Put all the digital instruction manuals in there too. It's a great app that can refresh your memory quick if you forget how to do something.
yep that satisfies the craving. on the shopping list since last year but after hearing it today...its on the top of the list . The sound is beautiful. Thank you.
Starsky, absolute belter of a 2600 demo. Loved it. Like others, your videos help us at SOUND7 inform much of our synth purchases. These clones are nailing it. Keep going!
The 2600 is an amazing audio work surface. It’s more about playing the synth than playing the keyboard. It was built for Arps, bass and lead and then the cooler stuff for patch kids.
I have a vision of an unkempt, unshaven, dishevelled Starsky emerging from his B2600 bunker in a years time with a grin that makes the Joker jealous 😂👍👍
Hell yeah!!!! I've been looking so forward to this vid!! Sounds incredible, the beginning could have been on an Orbital album or something!! Amazing, thanks for posting!!
Brilliant demo', well done.. I am really happy you got this one. The sounds that you are making, brings back a lot of memories to me... for certain reasons. Have a great week, stay safe out there. Cheers.
I even sometimes write stuff with softsynths then fire the MIDi to hardware to record all the sweet tweaking loveliness :) just fine exactly that with my Prophet 600 using Repro5 at first. The track I’ll feature in my upcoming Prophet 609 vid was created like that.
You're talking about performing. That's the thing... you CAN do that. You can even do it on your soft synths in Ableton if you map their functionality to controllers and record the automation. Just keep performing the song and then put together the best bits.
The 4012 filter "does it" for me! I have mine patched into my 'small sound system' (being a former FOH engineer who owned a sound company), using a pair of 'Renkus-Heinz' 12" two way 300W (each) powered speakers bi-amped with two subs - EV design "Thiele" TL-606 subs w/ EV-15L speakers. ( and yes - I have no neighbors close by me either.) I have wanted to get an ARP 2600 since first hearing this fantastic synth when it first came out. Now, I have it - with the B2600 - and have "paired" it with the Pittsburgh Modular SV-1b. (Talk about "slammin' low end")! Love it! Thank you for your videos! Much appreciated!
Did I detect the Nosedive midsection in Part 1 there? Literally my favorite chord progression. 👍 I just purchased the Behringer 2600 Gray Meanie yesterday --- it's my first hardware synth ever, after working with software synths for years. I'm so excited to explore the sonic opportunities!

Had mine for about two weeks now and still scratching on the surface, but love it so far ... it can produce some monster sounds as heard in this exquisite demo.
That gritty and smooth Juice from the osc en filtrer are lovely, i love odyssey hardware replica too and the software version from arturia too, but this 2600 is really another beast, for making progressive filtered sequence on trance music it's a must have.
Yeah it wasn’t something I was thinking about at the time. A few of my patrons asked for one so I created a walkthrough as part of my tutorial series on Patreon.
Just lovely. Is it me or was this tracked thru an old Neve? I track most of my synths thru an old pair and feel like I recognize that same crusty midrange saturation here. In any case, sweet sequences and I appreciate the sensitive touch!
Thanks for stopping by... I'm quite a fan of your plugins, and have lusted after some of your hardware for years:) This does have a gritty quality, but not because of a Neve... it's just the right side of a little bit dirty. I have the ODDY and I concur. It is not the original. Behringer has its own sound, and it is different, but it sounds great.
Ya, the original sounds darker and has a bit more detail in the high end resonance (to my ears at least)
