For me, I appreciate both a great sounding amp and a well playing instrument. A great sounding amp can inspire creativity, and a well built guitar facilitates better playing because you’re not being held back by the instrument’s flaws.
Right now a well built guitar isn’t a problem for me, I have two acoustics and a lovely black, Ibanez electric. They all sound great! My only problem right now is that my distortion amp is pretty old and it keeps cutting in and out. So I might have to look into saving up for a new amp. :(

I recently bought an sz second hand. Amazing guitar, such a bargain. My les paul is a bit over the top for my pub covers band so the sz is gonna be my main gig axe, not man enough for the 10s it came with tho need to change strings haha
I dont even have ten to choose from. I have a fender player plus 75 anniversary silverburst, a seagull S6 Original, a TOD10N Tim Henson signature, and an Ibanez prestige AZ. I got the AZ by playing Jimi Hendrix, Eruption live without net, and I think it was steve vai for my step dad to get that baby, similar story to yours, but my father made me play a little more for it.

I love the tone on that St. Vincent model. It sounds so cheap and has the kinda nostalgic poppy feel to it. Hard to explain. But it stood out the most from the rest.

3:46 I think it's always a good idea to have at least one cheap "beater" guitar in your collection. You're willing to take more risks with the instrument such as take it on the road, modding it under the hood (or pickguard), and customizing it with stickers or paintjobs. I used to use a bullet mustang for this, but I later upgraded to a contemporary strat.
Guitars in themselves are absolute works of art. Also, travelling to Nazareth and bringing a beautiful guitar back from there is an awesome story. I really want to go there sometime.

A month ago, thanks in part to your love of the instrument, I bought a blue Ibanez SZ520QM. You were right, it's a great guitar. The best part is, I only paid the equivalent of $110, and the seller threw in a Ritter gig-bag and a couple of nice guitar stands.
I still have my first guitar, an acoustic my dad bought me when I was 12 after spending several years of making it to first chairs in school orchestras on loaned instruments as an attempt to hint to him I wanted an one. My dad was not the best at taking hints haha. It's been with me now almost longer than my dad was, over 17 years and I used to take it everywhere I went, but I opted to retire it recently. A 12 year old doesn't take the best care of their guitar and I know if I want it to last me forever it can't be my main anymore. So I'm out here looking for The One. Thank you for sharing Jared, you are clearly well loved bro. The fact these guitars all have so much sentimental value is awesome.

The older I get...the more I appreciate a good amp, than a well built guitar.
