A dear friend just asked me to play and record a video playing Sheep on bass. I haven't started to look into it yet (i'll get there), but youtube just gave me your video and here i am admiring the hell out of it!! Nice cover!! The tone is incredible!! You got that wet sand tone from Echoes, really great!!
Thank you! Just play around with the tones on your bass and on your amp, give it a little compressor, play in different positions on the strings to get different sounds, and since I'm not a big fan of using picks, I use my fingernails for the Dm part. 🤘
@@LovePeaceBass Yeah! Awesome tips! I have a Echoes Pompeii bass cover which i used flats with my precision, harder to get those bright nuances but i did like you said, such a good tone Roger had.

Yes Roger was playing a rhythm guitar so David played the bass but during live performances Roger played the bass. Also he wrote the music 🤘

Ciao Massimo, for this song I didn't use any effect. My MarkBass Amp is connected to Focusrite Scarlet and is recorded in my Mac using Logic Pro. The digital amp that I selected in Logic Pro to record the sound was Fat Squasher that has a compressor assigned to it. 🤘

Used phaser?
For this song I didn’t use any effects, only bass and amp settings to get the sound. But you can definitely use the combination of phaser and delay to get that watery sound 🤘

One brilliant thing about this song is that bass always plays in 12/8 but vocals and other instruments switch to 4/4. "Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away" is a 4/4 triplet that works with 12/8 bass line.

Sheep is definitely one of my favorite Pink Floyd’s songs. I have one of Jaco’s records but I’ve never attempted to learn and play any of his songs :(
