Flat towing is also called four down towing and dinghy towing. We used the Blue Ox Tow Bar and Patriot Brake System and show you how to hook it up and how to remove it. We also show you how to put your Bronco into Neutral Tow Mode. We paired our tow system with the Havoc Steel Bumper from Real Truck. This bumper allows us to attach a winch and to be off-road ready while we flat tow across the country!

Nice overview. One item that I would recommend would be a (Towed Vehicle Battery Charger). Even though the Bronco has a very little parasitic battery draw when the ignition is off and the Blue Ox Patriot brake system pulls a low amp draw, It's very important that the Bronco's battery stays above 12.5 Volts at all times. One other note; I don't know what engine your Bronce has, 2.7L V6 or the 2.3L I4, but if you have the 2.7L V6 it has the Electric Assist Braking System, vs the 2.3L I4 has the vacuum booster brake system. If you have the Electric Assist Braking System, 2.7L it stays active all the time when towing and the ignition is off. This is the reason that the system might be too sensitive when supplemental braking. Ford now has a software update to basically turn off the electric assist braking (once the vehicle is placed in neutral tow). Contact your local Ford dealer. BTW, I was one of the engineers that conducted all the durability neutral tow testing, on the Ranger and full size Bronco. Safe Travels.
Wow! Great info!! Thanks for watching! I hope you will subscribe to our channel and give us feedback going forward!!

Done!
good informative video
Great vids.. Any experience with a clevis to fit the Raptor to flat tow? Assuming i trust the welds..
Drilling in the frame is required for the baseplate for the 1/2 bolts.
It looked like the base plate was below the bumper. Are you able to keep the OE bash plate without modification?
Does the winch obstruct the front camera?
What is included in the accessories? The wiring kit and the 7 pin to six pin cable? Was it an oversight or was there a reason?
New subscriber here. Great info, thank you. Did you rig your Bronco and motor home yourself for flat towing? Apologies if I missed that video. How much mechanical ability is needed to do this? Debating on doing it myself vs hiring it done. Thanks!
Thank you!! I did. It was not that difficult, I think we did a brief video on it.
I have to admit that I've never flat towed any vehicle, I'm completely unfamiliar with this process, so I'm curious why you choose not to throw it on a tandem axle flat deck trailer (outside of the trailer cost)... wouldn't trailering save the vehicle from potential damage and wear/tear? (thinking rocks and debris being kicked up from the tow vehicle) I'm curious why so many choose to flat tow vs trailer? .. all I can see in my head is that Jeep with the blown motor and transfer case because it was left in 4L.
Some good points there. However not having a trailer when you already have to park a motor home and a vehicle in spots is a huge bonus. Also flat towing is quick and easy. Never yet have I ever tossed a rock or anything on my rigs being towed.. however it’s possible.
Do you know if flat towing accumulates miles? My Gladiator did not and curious if the Bronco does. Thanks. Great vid!
No it does not.
Thank you for watching!
@@BenandBrandi awesome thanks for the response!
Do you have the 4cyl (Vacuum brakes ) or the 2.7 V-6 ( Electronic Brake Booster)???
Power steering booster
Soon to be flat towing my 23’ Badlands as well. I’ve seen videos where you can turn off the bronco while flat towing. Is that not true? I have the Brakemaster from Roadmaster which requires no power.
You always turn it off…
Wondering why you didn't use the the tow attachments on the front bumper for the tow bar? The make adapters for them and the tow bar would be parallel with the ground. I used these on the bumper of my 1973 bronco and flat towed thousands of miles.
We used them on our Jeep wrangler.. you should check that video out… our Jeep came unhooked while going down the highway… the factory welds on the bumper and frame broke loose…
Wow, the WLL of the factory Ford tow points are 16,000 lbs each. I could not see where you would be placing 32,000 lbs of force while flat towing. Also the weak link is the shear force of the 1/2 bolt on the tow bar at 6,975lbs each. Although with any aftermarket parts you are at the mercy of quality control, glad no one was hurt.
@@supergproductions8758 for sure!! Did you see the video? And where the welds broke? I couldn’t believe it!!
Do you think a 23 foot class c e 450 with the Triton V10 engine is enough to pull the bronco
For sure! We towed our JKU for years with the v10 on a 34’ rig
What’s the hitch rated for on your rig? 5k?
I don’t tow nor do I like fords. Hopefully the comment helps the channel though.
Dude… thank you sooo much for all the comments! I’m not a brand loyalist to any company! I drive what fits me and my needs at the time! Thanks again!!
Removing from neutral Tow Mode needs more info. You went way too fast
🤦♂️… you literally put the vehicle in park to take it out of tow mode… maybe play the video at half speed? 😉
@@BenandBrandi nice wise crack. Key detail I learned the hard way... you have to hold brake pedal for 7 seconds. (This at least is the case on my 2021 First Edition full size Bronco). Here is the official procedure from Ford for others who might experience the same 20 minute ordeal that I did... not knowing about the 7 second brake pedal bit:
**************
To Disengage Neutral Tow
The steps to turn flat tow mode off are similar to engaging it:
Enter accessory mode: Push the ignition button once without your foot on the brake.
Depress the brake (automatic transmission) or the brake and clutch together (manual transmission) for approximately seven seconds.
Wait until the instrument panel displays 2H and Neutral Tow Disabled.
Release the pedals.
Apply the parking brake, then disconnect your vehicle from the tow vehicle.
Release the parking brake, start your Bronco, and shift in Drive or Reverse to make sure the transfer case is out of the neutral tow position
