    If I was worried about towing, I would've bought the Ford. F250 or even the F350 which i was heavily considering. I went for the Bronco because I have no need to tow and I want the ability to get into tighter spaces four wheeling. Yet like you said homeowner projects no problem putting a little trailer on there. It's not a contract tool like a pick up. It's a recreational vehicle. And I love the bronco for what I need gets 'er done. Great content informational

    This was great content. I was extremely curious how much my '23 will tow. If I want to tow BIG stuff, that is why I have a F350 long bed for that. Again, thanks again for a great video.

    Great content as usual. Your Bronco is looking great. Nice water beading after the rain. What detailing products do you like to use? If you don't mind going off topic.

      For normal “car care” products I use Adam’s Polishes most of the time. The other common product is 303 Aerospace Protectant.
      I put Adam’s Polishes graphene ceramic coating on the Bronco because it is a little more forgiving to apply-important for me since I don’t have a garage. (Also on a more practical level, I already had it on-hand so I didn’t have to buy anything.)
      But my favorite ceramic coating is Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light. I don’t think I would ever apply that to the Bronco given the Bronco is an off-road vehicle I will be putting in harms way with rocks and pin-stripping. But if I had a nice luxury or sports car that’s what I’d use.

    Do you know what’s involved with the programming step of adding the 4/7 pin harness from ford? I was hoping to install that kit myself, maybe not though?

    Any idea why on the towing guide the 2 door badlands in the 7 speed manual transmission is blank for 4.70? That’s what I have so not sure why it isn’t listed.

    • @RagnarKon
      @RagnarKon  9 місяців тому +3

      That is one of the handful of typo/mistakes that have been in the tow guide since the Bronco launched in 2021. I’ve told my contacts at Ford about it on several occasions, but obviously that’s never getting relayed to the right people at Ford.
      I’ve been told 2-door Badlands manual with the 4.70 axle is 3480 lbs.

    great info. if i have an auto tranny, do i keep it in D with 2 or 4 wheel drive engaged when towing a car on dry pavement? i have a base model no full time option. thanks

    • @RagnarKon
      @RagnarKon  6 місяців тому +1

      2-wheel drive.
      Towing for extended periods of time in 4-wheel drive on pavement can lead to damage. 4-wheel drive is primarily for low-traction scenarios. Snow, ice, mud, etc.

    I would like to know what they did to the Raptor to get 4,500 pounds of towing. And why can't they do that with all Broncos........?

    • @RagnarKon
      @RagnarKon  9 місяців тому +2

      They added extra bracing between the hitch receiver and the frame, as well as an oil cooler for the transmission. And then obviously the Raptor has a much wider and more stable stance, and active suspension. Unfortunately none of those components are "bolt-and-play" on the regular Bronco with the exception of the active suspension (which would add a good chunk of change to the price).
      Ultimately Ford can increase the tow rating on the Bronco if they wanted to. The question is what they will have to sacrifice and/or how much it'll cost. They likely didn't focus on towing because their main competitor (Wrangler) also caps out at 3500 lbs. But now that that hyper-specific Wrangler configuration (4Dr, Rubicon, 4.10 axle, automatic, w/o 35s) can tow 5000 lbs with the 2024 model, I wouldn't be surprised if Ford answers back and increases the tow rating (and probably the price too).

    • @Crumb_Trails
      @Crumb_Trails 9 місяців тому +1

      @RagnarKon I didn't know that about the Wrangler. It's good to know the market is headed in that direction. I'm not looking for a tow beast but my camping trailer is rated at 3500 pounds which is just a tad over the Bronco tow rating (Badlands Sasquatch 4 door). If just like a margin for error. I know it will do it but that's not my concern.
      Great video! I appreciate the info.

      You just have to update a handful of module configurations in FDRS so they will recognize and properly communicate with the trailer tow module.
      Theoretically you can do it with Forscan... maybe?... but I don't have those details handy. I could probably figure it out if there is interest though.
      May be worth it to reach out to the service department at your dealership and see if they are willing to do just the configuration changes in FDRS after you finish the physical install. Should take them no more than 15 minutes to do, so maybe you can get them to do it for cheap.

      @@RagnarKon ok, so not something that can be done through forscan? Sorry I’m on a steep learning curve.

    • @RagnarKon
      @RagnarKon  9 місяців тому

      @@itzafugazi it should be possible to do with Forscan.
      It’s definitely not something Forscan has pre-programmed into the application, so you’d be modifying the raw configuration data.
