Not really. You can’t compare dynamite kid to Benoit. Kid never murdered anybody. And it’s not his fault Benoit idolised him

The reason that Billington made Honkytonk Man cry was over a crack that HTM made about Harley Race. Harley had been injured from a table spot in a match with Hogan, and had to have part of his intestines removed. HTM joked that Harley “didn’t have any guts anymore “. According to Bret, the other wrestlers didn’t take kindly to someone as soft as HTM joking about a legendary hard man like Race. Dynamite was good friends with and idolized Race, and backhanded HTM off of his chair for that. Bret said that HTM cried like a baby and begged for forgiveness for that.
Sorry for the novel there 😅
Might have been the case of the broken clock being right twice a day then.

Story I always heard was Dynamite went down, wasn't knocked out, hold two cups of coffee in his hands. While down lifted his head up conplimenting how good the punch was lol.
Thank God Dynamite picked wrestling. If he'd lived til 70, he'd have had the worst criminal record known to man.
You definitely get the sense that without the ring about 20% of 'em would be in cages for life.
@@zetetick395 Ya there's a fairly decent amount of psychos in the business isn't there? Dynamite, Benoit, New Jack to name a few !
Dynamite Kid(Billimgton) actually came from a lineage of English executioners. Unfortunately, violence was literally engrained into his DNA.

Dynamite passing the torch to benoit is actually pretty fitting.
According to Dynamite Kids book. The Rougeau brothers were affiliated with the Mafia. Vince became scared that they could get their Wiseguy friends to seriously hurt the Bulldogs if Dynamite responded to getting his teeth knocked out
Oh that is just so clearly bullshit. It's the same as a kid in the playground saying "I totally would of won that fight but I actually can't punch with my full power 'cause I'm a trained boxer and I'd lose my licence & also my girlfriend that lives in Canada doesn't want me fighting 'cause she's scared I'd kill someone with my fists"
@@pmc8451 Jacques admitted it was true. Fair different takes who told Dynamite, Dynamite said Vince, Jacques said he told Dino Bravo and Bravo told Dynamite cause he’d know Bravo would stooge.
@@pmc8451 some clarification, Jacques wasn’t in the mafia, but he made up to Dino Bravo that he had connections to the mafia. Think the story is on a WSI podcast told by Jacques.

Thicker than a castle wall 😂😂
Some people say kurt henning started the feud by setting jock up and telling dynamite jock addled on ya for a prank
Yeah I think they implied that in the video.
There's a piece on UA-cam from when a Japanese TV crew ventured to Bolton to interview the Dynamite Kid who after a stroke was in a wheelchair and being looked after by his wife. They then show him a video message from the original Tiger Mask holding Dynamites old mask encouraging him to get better. Whether Dynamite understood it was unknown because by this point he was unable to communicate.
Never lived in Bolton. Dynamite was wigan born and breed and died in wigan .Brett Hart use to visit him whenever wwf was in uk .being a wiganer myself all being said he was well known in the town for being a horrible nasty man
WAKE UP TOMMY! WAKE UP!
He lived in Wigan, his home at the time was 2 mins from Wigan train station
Mark is a wordsmith and a great storyteller, I loved this anecdote on the podcast, so glad you've done a video for it.
What a lot of people don’t know is Tom and Davy were descended from a family of public executioners “The Billington’s” operated for a number of years in the late 1800’s and into the 1900’s conducting hangings for the state. Unfortunately, they also suffered from the congenital thickness and there were many incidents of botched hangings and one of them killing himself by drunkenly falling through his own trap door. They were eventually put out of business by the Pierrepoints. There was also a psychotic bare knuckle boxer in the Billington family, who would go out and beat up anyone who dare pass the window of his house - sounds Dynamite came from the same test tube. So judging by this prime DNA, the observation there is something unsettling about Dynamite is probably founded 😂
Cheers Wikipedia

As the story goes Dynamite only went down to pick up his teeth
Hi fans out there I've literally read in the last few minutes (1615 on Monday ) of the passing of a British wrestling legend and hot topic of this channel Wales's Exotic Adrian Street at the age of 82. Obviously I and hopefully all fans send condolences to his family and friends. Marc and Pete I know it will happen in due course but give this gentleman the tribute he richly deserves.
There is a British ITV bout I remember seeing at the time where Dynamite and Fit Finley go at it. I remember it because it was terrifying in its ferocity (I think I was 12). My feeling at the time was that something went wrong, as both wrestlers looked hurt, and I am pretty sure that the ring floor was damaged with one of the boards splintered and broken. If memory serves me correctly Finley won in a sudden ending which again added to the feeling that something had gone wrong. If you ever find the footage I would love you to do video on it, as it was an amazing piece of athleticism from both wrestlers.
" Man cannot get in room." Dynamite's back gave out in Hamilton Ontario in 88. This is why left. He lost 2 discs that had been pulverized and had multiple back surgeries after leaving WWF. Note he didn't go to Japan and Davey Boy carried on without him.
Always the highlight of my evening when Wrestleme puts a new one out.
I know it’s not that old but could you PLEASE cover the Acolytes/APA destroying Public Enemy in a shoot fight? It’s merciless, and wonderful.
100% this needs to happen.
I second that. What a beatdown.
I wanna see steve blackman kicking bradshaws ass in an airport covered lol
@@jamespaul6315 I’m guessing there wasn’t footage… but there is definitely footage of the ‘match’ I mentioned. Its brutal.
Naughty Pete and Marc how can you not include Cactus Jack Foley in apparently his second WWF Match tagging with Les Thornton against the Bulldogs and Foley getting beaten up by the Dynamite Kid to the point he ended up with a broken jaw!
I thought that was gonna be in here.
Not his second WWF match but his second match period
And then going to Dynamite and Davey and thanking them for the match. After having his jaw broken. Just shows that Mick Foley is the nicest man in wrestling.
Wow. I've heard this story a hundred times but you guys put a great twist on it.
Just discovered your channel. Love it
I remember The Dynamite Kid's first TV match against Alan Dennison. Even then, at only 17, he was clearly a phenomenal talent. A great match, which can be found on UA-cam😎
Pure Dynamite, great book, read it...respect that era of WWF
Dynamite Kid Tommy Billington is hands down the GOAT! his singles matches before the Bulldogs was amazing his matches & Bulldogs matches in Japan really shows how great thy were, and the tournament when 3 matches in 1 night Dynamite won Jr Heavyweight title he was so far ahead of his time and gave his life & body to the sport. RIP Tommy
RIP Adrian Street
Last mention of this but I've turned 50 and my brains going. Watching that Dynamite Kid piece with the message from Satoru Sayama the former Tiger Mask only now has an alarm gone off in my head. The reason that name is familiar as it should be to a lot of British wrestling fans is that Sayama was a regular fixture on ITVs World Of Sport programme wrestling under the name of Sammy Lee. Oh well its only downhill from here I blame the ghost of Les Kellett!
The ending is just sad. By all accounts, Benoit was just an incredibly hard working and well liked young man back then. Even Dynamite wasn't to know what was to come. When Tom found out what Chris did, did it break him? Or was he already broken beyond redemption by then?
Tom said some cryptic bullshit like "I warned him this would happen". He seemed to have little care or sympathy for the situation. Not a nice guy at all.
@@Bubba__Sawyer what exactly did you want him to say about someone he hadn't seen in years?
He took a very dim view and washed his hands of him as I recall.

"The man cant get in ruoom"
Connection from Dynamite Kid to Chris Benoit..,,.....Cue awkward silence!
A man can’t lose face when he gets suckerd with a roll of quarters and doesn’t go down IMO
not the biggest wrestling fan but these uploads are some of the funniest things i have watched on YT
Dynamite is the reason smaller wrestlers are where they are now.
He started a style never seen on western wrestling before.
His lifestyle/behaviour outside the ring is not great at all, but alot of wrestlers ranked higher also are horrible people.
Truthfully tho, Davey trademarking British Bulldog was such a back stab. You would atleast give a % to the other half or let them also use the name
Honestly if nobody else was around after the role of quarters punch, I still believe Dynamite would has f’d him up. He’d have scrambled to his feet and gone for the eye or something.
Im just happy he got his teeth knocked out. He was an awful person
I cannot thank you both enough for just existing. Man, what gift from the gods. Laughing through this like an idiot.
That twist at the end was so sudden I now need surgery.
My cousin was the dynamite kids manager John Foley
I grew up watching Stampede Wrestling. J.R. Foley was hilarious! I always cheered for him and Dynamite. "Hey, Ed, want to go to a party?" 🤣
And the best is dynamite kid was only 5'7" while most of the guys were over 6'4"
Curt Hennig deserved to be knocked out too for escalating the heat between the Bulldogs and the Rougeau Brothers he did the same with Scott Hall and Marty Jannetty in AWA which led to Hall knocking out Jannetty
People do tend to overlook the part that the Bulldogs got blamed and snitched on to the office for something they hadn't actually done, then later got assaulted with a weapon. They lost their jobs over it whilst the Rougeau's and Hennig didn't get punished at all. I don't see any innocent parties in this..
Had the Bulldogs stayed, they were supposed to team with Duggan at the 89 Rumble and the Harts would have been in the Rumble match.
Imagine an Alternative WWE Hall of Fame. The Dynamite Kid, Bob Holly, Chris Benoit The APA and Marty Janetty not forgetting David Schultz and New Jack! Wrestle Me make it happen!
Whoever is seeing this (the editor). You are such a talent
The Rougeaus were considered uncooperative and only tried to get themselves over and were disliked by many, Greg Valentine said in one match he had to legitimately shoot on them to get his offence in because they were so upset over the finish they would work. Demolition and Killer Bees weren’t fans either by the sounds of it.
I enjoyed their bad guy stuff though and Bulldogs could have done great stuff with them, a mistake not to see the potential. Watching this match you wouldn’t see the heat because at least they were professional in the ring.
Careful, you are going against narative.
@@billbird6494 well the narrative that many thought Dynamite had it coming and was disliked is not true for me, he certainly was a popular figure. That reputation has come about more on social media but he did do some bad shit though not that others have done similar.
@@drofheim My take is that most of the guys were just as bad at the time in one way or another and there wasn't any innocent parties in this particular incident. The narrative of Dynamite being the worst human who ever wrestled is so stupid when there have been murderers and sex offenders throughout wrestling history.
@@drofheimwell he did have it coming and deserved it from what we know of him now.
@@drofheim Even Bret Hart in his book said that Dynamite had it coming and that he left him to deal with that situation on his own. That said, Dynamite 100% had close friends in the company: Bret, Race, Dan Spivey, Moondog Spot, and others. He and Davey Boy were still tight--their falling out wouldn't come until the '90s.
He's basically Begbei. Fantastic reference
Credit to the editor. They accidentally covered this twice on the show and this is both melded into the funniest version of the story.
Worth mentioning that Dynamite was a pioneer of technical wrestling guys like Brett Hart , Mr Perfect, Shaun Michaels all followed his lead
100%
Whatever he did outside of the ring, the fact is he was one of the best wrestlers ever in it. In his prime, he was far more electric than almost every more famous wrestler.
The Kid's roid rage really took over. When I ran an engineering company I took on this young lad who was hugely into body image. He was hard working, polite, kind and a great team player. After 12 months his atritude changed completely, he was aggressive, resentful, angry, and got into fights with colleagues. I discovered he was self dosing on Testosterone and roids... had to fire him 3 months later for hitting a colleague.
The impressions of the Bulldogs had me in fucking stitches...
A laughed a lot during this video and learnt a lot, the end was chilling. I’ve read Dynamite descended from a family of executioners - does anyone know if this is true?
It is true yes.
I remember reading in power slam magazine once where dynamite filled some guys tea with laxatives, and when the guy went out at intermission to do a strong man exhibition he shit himself in the ring....ribs eh....
Kinda funny tho.
Bwahahaha! That ending was fucking dark, and I love it!
I saw a video where Bret Hart basically said he thought Dynamite was the real best there is, best there was and best there ever will be. He said he never considered himself better then Dynamite which shows the huge respect he had for him.
Dynamite Kid - Legendary wrestler, insanely talented.
Outside of the ring though, absolute bellend.

11:42 Honky Tonk Man got what he deserved. He made smarmy jokes about how he was making more money than the injured Harley Race. Everyone was disgusted with him. Bret Hart tells essentially the same story in his book as Dynamite does in his book.
Bret has said we could have done with someone like Dynamite later on to sort out the Kliq especially Shawn Michaels
2:57 The reason why the Rougeaus made such good heels later on was because they really were smug g1ts like that in real life. They used to whisper stuff in French about other wrestlers in front of them.
@@kurtvanderbogarde8402 One of the Harris twins (Skull & 8-ball) got fed up with Shawn once and held him up against a wall by his throat while his legs dangled in the air.
@@Bubba__Sawyer had to be done.
@@kurtvanderbogarde8402 Makes no sense. If Jacques and Raymond were speaking French and nobody could understand them, then why would they _whisper_ to each another? It's like turning your back on somebody to give that person privacy, and then covering your eyes, pointless. Additionally, if nobody else could understand French, how would anyone _know_ what was being said? Just sounds like paranoia to me. Dynamite said in his book that when Canadian fans would jeer him in French, he wouldn't give a crap, because he couldn't understand what was being said. So, why the bother about Jacques and Raymond supposedly saying bad things about him in French? Dynamite contradicted himself. The man was wound tighter than a cheap watch, hard to take him seriously when he said things like this.
Best part of the Rougeou heels was just not their work which got awesome cowardly heel, but it was the French part of their lyrics
On peut pas les sentir
Dans le monde ils sont les pires
On aime les faire fâcher quand on dit
Which translates to 'We can't stand them, they are the worst, we make them them angry when we say"
Add in Jimmy Hart and it was magic, was a shame Raymond got injured and could no longer wrestle
As much praise as Hennig gets, he was an instigator and his ribs were not like Owen Hart's in a 'ahhh, gotcha' method, but just mean and juvenile and this it cost a team their jobs & a man his teeth. Not that is a bad thing because according to multiple sources, they were both cruel to that dog
