Did you all know Slick is the son of journeyman territory wrestler Rufus R. Jones ? That fact surprised me several years ago when I found out !

That twin peaks bit made me howl
The (somewhat boring) reason Slick was with the Bolsheviks - When Slick was first hired, he was brought in to co-manage Freddy Blassie's stable as Blassie prepared to retire. The stable consisted of Hercules and the tag team of Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff. Blassie retired, Slick sold Hercules' contract to Heenan and then Sheik (and Duggan) got popped in the infamous arrest. Slick's stable almost immediately went from 3 guys and a co-manager to just him and Volkoff, so they brought in Boris from AWA to team with Volkoff and that's how an inner city pimp character ended up managing Russians.
You guys point out so many forgotten things, like the pure brilliance of one Lord Alfred Hayes. 😉

I watched Muraco's Meatball Sub match when it first aired back when I was a kid... me and my brother laughed so hard - the kicker is Lou Albano tripped on a meatball while walking back to the locker room

Man I love that one clip from Buddy Rogers corner with Don Muraco where Jimmy Snuka comes out for a match during it and sends Don into a rage. Great great promo which ends with Don getting his clothes ripped off and taking a thrashing from Superfly

This was a great match to review, because I'm constantly mixing up Dino Bravo and Don Muraco. Now i can see them in the same place at the same time. Well done, lads!

Don muracco was the original Rock in the wwf but was mostly when his name was o the viewscreen displaying rounds of a tournament like KotR. As random as it is, ya can check it! It's just as funny as super fly jimmy snuka being called the "Phenom" before 'taker got called it.......wrestlemania 9 match and gorilla monsoon just confused things even more!! Again, ya can go and check it out too!!

Muraco had great feuds with Backlund for the time, Pedro where they traded the IC belt back and forth, then Snuka ending in the cage, then Rock Johnson. He had relentless heat for about 5 years. I don't think he was lazy, I think he was exhausted.
Bob Backlund was the first wrestler i connected with as a kid. Don Moraco was the first heel i ever liked.

How DARE you put down They Live, with one of the best one-liners ever?
Granted I haven't seen Predator so maybe that's life changing, but from what i have seen Piper is leagues, nay UNIVERSES better than Ventura in every role you could chose to compare. Abraxas vs Hell Comes to Frogtown (first lead for both)?? Fucking Lawrence Olivier in comparison. But I think Piper is proper good in some of his later tv stuff, not just 'good for a wrestler', and he is the only wrestler to ever be proper good in anything so I wouldn't even say it's a fair contest.
I still don't understand why they used Slick, don't get me wrong I love the guy but he is so fucking tall, there are literally only 4 guys on the roster who were taller than him so he makes everyone look regular sized

The Honkey Tonk Man was the worst idea for a gimmick ever. I think Vince thought people would freak out when they saw a wrestling Elvis but by that time it was the 80's and nobody cared about Elvis, so he he came across as unlikable. They should have made him the Glam Metal guy or something, anything but Elvis.
So they wrestled four times? Poor Warrior had to wrestle for a full two minutes that evening, how did he manage?
Has anyone seen that match Warrior did in 2008 in Europe? His final match and It was a 30 minute broadway with Orlando Jordan which is around the same amount of time he spent in WWF matches combined for his entire career... Warrior with short hair and who was clearly off the juice and almost unrecognisable and hadn't wrestled for a decade seemed to use all of his energy on his ring entrance and gave a ridiculous performance against Jordan who was doing some kind of gay or crossdressing gimmick that would seem to infringe of Warriors opinions on queering.

9:09 The Tag Team pilot was filmed in 1990 (you'll hear Jesse Reference it in commentary on Wrestlemania VI,) and was aired in 1991. By 1992, I suspect it had long since been turned down, and no one wanted a thing to do with it at this point, as by the end of the Summer, neither man would even still be in the Federation.
