The Maverick with tow package can do 0-60 in 5.9 secs. Without tow package, 6.4 secs. That with 250 hp. I would think the SC with 31 more hp would be a tick quicker. I think the wider tires on the SC slow it down a tick. 245's vs the Mavericks 225's.
I am 6ft1. I love my 2024 midnight edition. The only disagreement I have is to me, is the back seats do not have enough room. Yet, I didn't buy it for back seat room. Enjoyed your show.
I have a Honda Ridgeline, You know what, I have never had to bail water out of it. I know someone who purchased a 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz & they have taken it back to the dealer 3 times to get the water leaks repaired. They were told that it was repaired, but it leaked water again the very next storm. Thet were pissed, the back seat was soaked along with the floor and carpet. They took it back the last time & told them to keep it until it was fixed! I know which one that I would buy!!!!
$41.000 and no vents in the back??! Gee darn it! Even the 2010 Ford Adrenalin, (which I'm dreaming of having), has vents for the rear passengers. Heck, even the 2nd gen Escape has. 😅
@@johncs154 Yep. Heck even my 2012 Focus had rear facing vents under the front seats so it's nothing new. Don't see the issue. Not like vehicles like this are minivans with a big interior that won't heat up or cool down quick. Bigger issue is whether the rear console has USB or electrical ports for the rear passenger.
Sold my 2021 Tacoma and was looking at the 2024 Mavrick XLT and Santa Cruz SEL. Test drove both and ended up buying the 2024 Santa Cruz SEL. Both drove well, but the SC was a smoother and quieter ride on the highway. Out the door price for the Mavrick was in excess of $37,000, while the OTD price for the SC was approx. $35,500 and included nav, dual a/c control, sunroof, SiriusXM and a hard rollup tonneau cover. The Mavrick had none of these. The 5 year/60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty vs. Fords 3/36,000 warranty was another big factor in my decision to purchase the Santa Cruz. P.S.--my wife loves the Santa Cruz, and drives it more than her Ford Edge.
Failed, should just buy the honda ridgeline with way better reliability and value in the long run. Ford is pos garbage and Hyundai have all those warranty because they don't even trust their own cars.
Joe: Thanks for the review; I am looking to buy a Santa Cruz. I drove a non turbo SEL and a turbo XRT and the turbo is the way to go. One correction: The non-turbo models can tow 3500 lbs but the turbo models can tow 5000 lbs. Ridgelines can tow 5000 lbs so I think this is pretty impressive for the compact Santa Cruz. The Maverick hybrid or turbo can only tow 2000 Lbs unless you get the turbo AWD with the 4k tow package; good luck finding that option/combo here in the Tampa Bay area. So where towing is concerned the less trucky Santa Cruz does "truck" better than the truckier looking Maverick.

Hey Joe I'm pretty sure with the turbo no matter the trim towing is increased to 5,000 pounds. Or if not my research of this vehicle is wrong. Anyway thanks for another great video.
I like the design of those wheels (but with the regular black center caps) but they look small in the wheel wells of the SC. The wheel cutouts are huge and are shaped for the larger 20" wheels.
Owned 2 Tacoma’s which I loved, but traded my last one for a 2021 Ridgeline. The Ridgeline drives so much better, smoother, roomier, bed trunk is awesome, only Zonk is slow infotainment system. Sound is great though as I have the RTLE with 540watts and a subwoofer!!! Don’t like the looks of the Santa Fe or Maverick. Ridgeline improved looks in 2021 with more solid front end plus duel exhaust….Joe always love your reviews!!!
Always a big fan of yours for the most random choice of expressions you come up with. Very entertaining. I personally think Hyundai made a very good move on the compact pickup truck segment based on a front wheel drive setup. The Ridgeline is no longer small and it's about time people start discussing about the midsize and compact trucks we used to get decades ago at a starting price in the 20k range. I am quite confident a substantial portion of current truck users barely tow anything let alone actively use the bed, utilizing all that payload capacity. This compact truck just about serves its purpose, you know, those once or twice a year when you can't fit everything inside the cabin of your SUV and wished you had an open space with no roof so you can stack your furniture or appliance, things like that. It's actually my first time paying attention to the rear seat area and I agree with you that not having a rear seat vent is a huge bummer for vehicle reaching $40k. I mean, Hyundai is always so keen in making sure even their compact cars receive the vents but I wonder why they had to cheap out for Santa Cruz. Also the competition for off road trims is becoming extremely competitive and popular these days, to the point where F-150 offers like three different off road trims across its entire price range, so Hyundai should pay sharp attention to this trend and come up with something more than just this XRT with on road tires(probably due to emissions/fuel economy) and a standard Tucson-looking interior. Other than that, I absolutely love the powertrain. Very recent rumor has it that the next Elantra N may receive this same 2.5 liter turbo engine and it sure sounds fun to have access to all the fun parts available for the N once it begins sharing the same engine. I hope Hyundai updates the interior of the Santa Cruz quick enough since the refreshed Tucson has a much better interior, including the quirky digital cluster replaced with a nicer looking one.
My dad bought a Santa Cruz XRT. It is pretty cool looking on the outside, but really not that special on the inside. The backseat is comfortable but really nothing much back there. No ac/heat vents, center arm rest or USB ports. That's pretty much my only gripe about it. I do like the fact I have plenty of legroom and I do feel safe in the back.
You could also fit a Merlin and a Magic Merlin in those seat-pouches! It's slick, and it's fresh; I really can't blame folks for wanting one. Turbo model can tow 5,000 lbs Non-turbo model can tow 3,500 lbs Maybe you could get a mechanic to go over the technical aspects of the car, like... What kind of variable valve timing it has. Hyundai has come out with a new variable valve timing system that has valve duration control. What type of fuel injection system it has? Is it the problematic direct injection or have they changed that system?
The Santa Cruz XRT shown in this video looks beautiful and reminds me of the Subaru Baja from the early 2000's, which is a compliment in my book. The interior is okay but the dashboard is terribly though, the dash cluster looks horrible and I'm not feeling the ipad in the center stack.

It sells pretty well. about half of what the Tacoma sells.
@@gregkramer5588 Really? Interesting, I'm kinda shocked when I see one. I see 50 Tacomas a day lol.
I think each region of the country has a certain amount.
I'm surprised how many people call the Maverick, and Santa Cruz a " truck ", but the said the Ridgeline is not a " truck ".
This is true.
If you have a dct, its a turbo AWD, and has 5,000 lb towing capacity, not 3,500.
when does honda ridgeline bring out their cyber ute or mitsubishi or toyota or other stuff by 2030
You lost me at the manual rear window. That’s a hard no for me!
Joe was definitely less than enthusiastic 😅😅
Strange that the taillights are not full LED, the brake/indicator lights are regular bulbs. Wonder what's the logic in that.😂😂
Dude, Hyundai doesn't call it a pickup truck, because its not a truck, It's a Crossover! Same as the Honda Ridgeline. It's unibody construction, a real truck has a full 'H' frame.
But can it be stolen by peeling the column and using your own cell phone charger to start it up?
I don't like A) Turbo, or B) Dual clutch. Can't you just make a 6cyl, 6spd AT or better yet, a 5spd manual option?
No. That issue has been fixed.
I wish this was 6 inches more in every direction
Chevy should of brought the Ute and Ute SS over here, Huge mistake on their part, and their loss! but these are pretty cool, and 4-door. a single guy like me could get a lot of use out of it ☮
Good call for sure!
Looks nice but price is too much for $41K
get rid of the back seats and extend the bed and i'll buy it
Put the 2.5T in the Tucson, and Hyundai would be getting a sale.
That would be interesting for sure!
Yes of course Joe and I'm going to buy one.
That sounds fantastic!
Not a fan of either but they also aren't super ugly.
My insurance doesn’t cover Hyundai because of the TikTok trend!!!
Now that is fascinating!
This Santa Cruz, doesn't have much rear seat leg room.
Joe stop complaining. This is a very well designed truck. Admit it.and isn't American.
Who puts a DCT on a pick up ?
Hyundai
Better than the junk you drive
Hopefully it don't catch on fire
@@darkivaz-aaa1145Hyundai is the junkiest brand 😂😂😂
