This really makes more sense for many truck drivers in the suburbs. Almost every person I know who drives a truck never tows and never goes off road. For them this makes so much more sense than an F150.
This is exactly what any small tradesman needs! Cheap price compared to full size trucks (1/2 the price in many instances) V6 power and Honda Engine reliability!!!! Great design one of the best vehicles I’ve seen in a LONGGGGG time!!!!
A real, easy to service, lasting V6! Great use of space! Quality seats, outstanding wheels and colors! Door tailgate! Sunroof! This is worth 46!! Outstanding!!!
@@russelljones2468 Congrats! At least locally around here, they aren't moving off MSRP plus the honda incentives. This looks to be very nice package and worth considering for sure.
We tow a 23 Ft. camper (4,000 Lbs) using a weight distribution hitch & electric brake set-up with our Ridgeline, the ride is great while towing and it handles the load very well even up steep grades, It,s awesome in the snow, it fits in my garage, enough room for a mechanics tool set in the under bed storage space, great for tail-gating especially with in bed stereo speaker system, It’s pretty fast no F-150’s or any other truck have been able to pass me on the highway, lol
Nice powertrain. Very nice tires. Not a brutal off-road machine but handles snow and mud very well. They improved the styling. Overall a very useful pickup with more pros than cons.
Tires concern me. Had bad luck with Grabber series snows (2 sets) that go to crap at about 15K miles. Couldn't ask for a better snow tire until they reach about 1/3 wear. Hopefully these are better tires.
The last Honda that I owned was 1994 Accord. I feel I could jump in this Trail Sport and everything would be exactly where I remember and it would be very easy to interact with it.
I have a 2024 Ridgeline Black Edition and it is really nice. It drives so much better than the 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport that I traded in. It is has ventilated seats and AC controls in the back. It also has lane keep assist, so when driving on the highway you can take your hands off the wheel for a while. I have been getting over 25 mpg on the highway. It is a great truck for city driving.
Picked up a Black Edition, it's my first time owning a truck. I did a ton of research and it was the only one that checked all of the boxes for me; I absolutely love it. The rear seat has it's own AC control where that plate is on this model.
Good review, as usual. We bought a 2024 Ridgeline TrailSport 2.5 weeks ago. So far, so good. Your evaluation is pretty much sport on. We bought it to road trip to North Carolina from New England. We are impressed with the ride quality and quietness. It doesn’t drive like a truck, more like a decent handling SUV. So far, in mixed driving, we’re averaging (calculated, not by display) 23 mpg. I suspect with prudent application of the accelerator, we’ll see higher than 23 mpg on the highway, if it’s anything like other naturally aspirated Honda’s we owned in the past. So far, 👍👍.

I really like the Ridgeline and yet feel the Trailsport could be so much better! Honda is one of those car manufacturers that goes 7/10ths.... They do some weird things and it takes them years to implement a design or feature that actually makes sense. Look at how long it took them to revise the center arm rest. No real under body protection and not much of an upgrade in ground clearance. Off-Road tires do not make it "trail ready". However...the best part of this truck is the bed design and naturally aspirated V-6. That alone..... But for heavens sake Honda... please BUILD a real Off-Road version of this truck with skid plates and ground clearance!!! Just do it Honda!

If you buy an f150 you're going to have to take a bed to the dealership because of so many problems that it doesn't even have crazy the ridge line no problem 300k miles
It depends what you need in a truck, if you’re towing anything heavy or going off-road get the 150 if you want something that is a comfortable everyday driver get the Ridgeline. The trunk in the bed is great and the backseat space is great for a midsize pickup.
Lease was up on my 2021 Yukon. Residual on it was $35k but because it was a used 2021 the interest to finance was 9.5%!! Plus it would have needed an extended warranty and it needed new tires….. I ended buying a 2024 Ridgeline RTL. Black with saddle brown leather interior. I’ve been pleased with it it’s fun and roomy
Love my 2019 Gen 2 old guy's truck that's not a truck. So does my brother and friends when they call to ask for a ride home from the dealer while their 'real' truck is broken yet again.😅
I just recently purchased a 24 Ridgeline RTL the only disappointing factor for me was even at this price point. It didn’t have back up sensors. That should be something that Honda puts on all their vehicles. This is my first Honda. I recently sold my 2019 frontier I like the roominess of the Honda. I was in between a Honda and a Nissan. So I don’t think I went wrong.
Drove an RTL today. I'm more interested in the Trailsport but they didn't have one in stock. Really nice truck. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna downsize from my 2017 Silverado in the next week or so. Just gotta track down the color I want. I've had an Avalanche, and two Silverados since 2004. They all had reliability issues. Time to jump ship on Chevy.
@@jakes5530 I'm already disappointed. There's an indefinite "stop sale" from Honda due to a safety recall. You can't even buy a Ridgeline right now. I'm being told it could last thru the summer. I'm bummed.. I was planning to buy this week and now I have to look at something different.
Had 2006 Ridgeline until 2020. I went with good looking “real truck” Toyota Tacoma Off Road in 2020. Just traded it in for 2024 Ridgeline Trailsport. Happy to be back in Honda. Always missed the in bed trunk, massive rear seat storage and car like ride.
Love my 2024 TrailSport Diffused Sky Blue Pearl Ridgeline. Your in this video is not DSBP, probably sonic Gray. My didn’t come with 1 inch lift like your video says (4:28) My floor mats came with orange Ridgeline color not gray.
I bought this same truck last week and absolutely love it. I looked at Tacoma and Frontier but neither had the back seat space that I need for my family. We have two toddlers, and it was nearly impossible to get the car seats into those trucks. Toyotas made in Mexico four-cylinder turbo is too much of a gamble with long term reliability, which was another factor in eliminating the Tacoma. Love the looks of the Frontier for sure but the rear seating is a joke. Honda did an awesome job with this truck and we're very pleased with it so far.
I really like the RIdgeline and I try to root for it. I do totally agree with Raiti in saying it needs a bigger infotainment center and front facing camera as well as 360 camera I think would help. To me, the dash seems dated compared to other newer pickups. The exterior of the car I really have no complaints.
Given that the bed is of composite material, is it possible to place a rail system? Similar to the utili-track system found in the Nissan Frontier or have a DIY rail system as in the Ford Macerick?
Yah I have 24 Diffused Sky Blue Pearl Ridgeline. It looks like the color of Sky. This not Sky blue in video. Then he says ( 4:28) after it 1 inch higher then standard Ridgline. He must of maid this video months ago before the Ridgline was officially released. Has wrong information. Just notice dealer license plate says December. Remember the press release video he and everyone did inside was the Sky blue Pearl Ridgeline. He got confused. Just notice even the floor mats are not orange like in my 24 TrailSport. He must been in preproduction version like in December. Old video he realsed today for some reason 🤔
Interesting new trim level. Additional benefits or changes (Trail-watch system, more ground clearance, Sport mode/Econ consolidation, digital speedometer, etc…) are likely on Honda’s radar to include in future models or new trim levels.
fyi on the BE Ridgeline blind spot monitoring does not work below 20mph so, be careful on your slow merges.. adaptive cruise control is not stop and go and does not work below 25mph. the front parking sensors is only one sensor in each corner, it wont detect a parkiing pole or smaller cars.. the vented seats are not that powerful even on high mode. the passenger seat does not have height adjustment. it doesnt have hill descent control.
This and Nissan Frontier are the only V6 left for mid size truck market... I was gonna get Tacoma but made in Mexico and turbo 4 made me stay as far away as possible from it.
If Honda raised the front end by 2in and the back by 1.5in from the factory I would be sold on this truck. Oh by the way I bought this exact truck and put a small lift on it. now I can do a little offroading with confidence.
I still find the ridge;I ran excellent multipurpose vehicle and I-vtm4 is crazy good in winter. My main complaint is the Schizophrenic transmission if it’s the same I had in my last couple of passports. Shifting was never consistent nor predictable. Around town sometimes coasted nicely, sometimes extreme whiplash levels of deceleration. Sometimes smooth, sometimes harsh shifting jerks.
This is more of a gentleman’s truck, not necessarily for someone who reaches for boots in the morning. That being said, it has many real-life features that offer excellent service at a great Honda price!
Great truck! The interior needs a little updating, not a big fan of the push button transmission, all in all still a great vehicle that checks many boxes!
Uhhhh, ridgeline first appeared in early 2005 branded as a 2006 model. I bought my original in March 2005 and drove it 315,000 miles. I’ve driven nothing but Ridgelines since then and I’m now on my fourth one, a 2024 Trailsport. By the way, I have always been in the land and timber business and never needed to go anywhere that my Ridgelines did not get me in and out safely and comfortably.
If this had a 10-12 inch clear would be great. Then had a lower street tune suspension would be cool. I'd probably go street tune since i don't see much mud or snow.
What do you mean by "Linear Torque Delivery" you mentioned a few times? I would like to see this truck with a 1500 lb. pallet of whatever in the truck bed. How bad does it squat and how does it handle it?
my only gripe with the Ridgeling is the interior. It's not bad but its not great. Its ok. Maybe the 3rd gen will have major improvements. I'd still would own this as a great daily
I was hoping a RL Trail Sport would have had at least the goodies of the Pilot TS, that would have been a real upgrade. Tow hooks? How much skid protection is there? Off road cameras? No option for bed plugs (12v and / or AC)? All of the competition has a lifted version of the off-road spec trim. That said, on the road and day to day living it is hard to beat, even with the new versions from Ford, GM, and Toyota.
IMO this is really a city boys (lets go camping or jetskiing) truck, first off I absolutely love that lockable storage in the bed with the spare tire as you can fill it with ice and drinks and some food to cook on the fire but it goes downhill from there for me. Its not really a Trail or Offroad pickup so I kind of chuckle with the Trailsport name badge on it. For the same or less price of $46k you can get a 4X4 Ranger offroad or Tremor pkge or GMC AT4 you get full skid plates and offroad tires and lifted and ready to actually go off road without having to buy skidplates extra. (Note - I didn't not include the AT4X or Zr2 Bison or Ranger Raptor etc. as those will be alot more expensive.)
The only reason to buy anything else is if you routinely tow over 5k lbs, or if you routinely do serious off roading. Most RL owners do not (which is totally fine)
You can also buy a full-size Raptor. Obviously, it's not meant for any of those things you mentioned. Keep rollin on those 35's, I get it being a fellow hunter.
I'm not sure what we are meant to do with the space "freed up" by using a push button gear selector. Set a pie on the middle console so I can snack on while driving? 🤔 Use it as a center seat for another passenger? 😵💫 I would just prefer a traditional handle on the gear selector. I hate my Mercedes' gear selector too.
Thank God it didn't use the Honda interior, from the CR-V or the Civic or the Accord. This actually looks good, sophisticated, and ergonomically correct.
Honda is inching ever closer to making this desirable - it finally looks like a truck. Some odd decisions - full LED is an easy win (or loss), not sure why Honda couldn't prioritize these few extra pennies on a vehicle that never was lacking in being a good car, but always has been lacking in desirability. It's still hard to really imagine this being used for true "truck stuff" (towing, off-road, etc) - but that softer, more suburban niche could be be an interesting - and profitable - alternative to the truck-y competition if they could just get it right. At least it will be reliable, comfortable, and hold its value.
For 75% of people that buy a pick-up this is what they actually need. Occasional users that need the truck bed every now and then but mostly a daily driver that drives and feels like an SUV.
Joe, I can tell you I like this truck. Enough so that I bought one. With that said the technology in this truck is atrocious. For a 2024 Honda it still has last gen Honda sensing equip. It doesn’t have low speed follow for its adaptive cruise control, it doesn’t have led interior lights, no electronic parking break, no brake hold, no speed sign reading, no lane follow, and it’s auto high beam feature is just atrocious. Half the time they won’t turn on, the other half it’s just blinding passing cars. And as you mentioned the backup camera is horrible. Also there is a sport mode, you just press the drive button again, that’s why it says D/S.
I understand your sentiment, but that said the rest of the interior is a massive improvement over the 2023 and earlier. Better screen, wireless carplay, better digital gauge cluster, real center armrest, updated steering wheel buttons, etc. The safety stuff is disappointing, but not necessary IMO, I usually turn the lane stuff off. The rest of what you said are minor inconveniences, not really necessary. Could definitely use a 360 camera though, that’s frustrating.
The problem is you can get a 23 F150 STX 4x4 for the same price. The 2.7L gets the same mileage (epa rated at least). However, Honda usually exceeds their listed highway mileage in real world driving. I got the F150 because of the bigger cabin and slightly better capability, but now I'm thinking I should have gave the Ridgeline a fair chance. Essentially a base F150 or a loaded Ridgeline for the same price 🤔
I did consider others and none came close in price with all of the loaded tech & features that I wanted. The most off-roading I'll do is gravel roads in my rural community and I'll never tow anything close to 5K so the Ridgeline fit me perfectly. The Maverick is another one that checked most of the boxes, but the finish of the interior killed it for me.
Unfortunately, Honda only put their newly designed V6 in the new Pilot, which has a dual overhead cam design, hydraulic lifters, improved direct-injection system, slightly more horsepower, and VTEC is replaced by higher tech cam phasers which offer a smoother pull to redline. Surely the Ridgeline will have this engine update next year.
I heard on the news, thieves are stealing the tailgates from trucks. Are ridgeline tailgates easy to steal? Gonna search now. Wish I got money. If I did I’ll choose a Forrester or this Trailsport
I had a 21 Ridgeline ... is it the best??? ... nope ... it had issues ... the 9spd ZF is wonky ... MPG wasn't great ... and I know in mine the bedliner (If you call it that) was starting to fade and get blotchy .... though having said all the not-so-good stuff the iVTM-4 could NOT be faulted it is the best I've ever driven ... @@billseiler4952 ...HI ... I sold it a few months ago and so far no replacement ...at the top my list (but also the most pricey) is the Chevy/GMC full size pickup with the 3L I6 DURAMAX Diesel ($60K) ... going towards the cheap the Nissan Frontier PRO-4X is a good robust vehicle (that gets really poor MPG) ($42K) ... and the elephant in the room is the Tacoma ... somehow Tacos have become famous overnight and are no longer inexpensive and I'm not really all that ga-ga about any 4cyl turbo motor in a truck. As for the RL being "comfortable" ... yeah but my 2019 RAM 1500 (w5.7HEMI V8) was just as comfortable and hauled/trailered significantly more and "on a good day" you might have seen 20MPG avg on the highway v. 22-24 with the RL .. hope if nothing else this was entertaining ... FYI there is no extra ground clearance in trailsport ridgeline 7.64 inches on all trims…unlike pilot trailsport which has 8.3 inches- makes no sense to me!
I'll wait for the fully BEV version of the BYD Shark. We are getting screwed, when it comes to vehicles, in the US. Kia also has a new truck coming out.
Yah he called it wrong color. He also said 1 inch taller the standard Ridgeline. Doesn’t have the orange Ridgeline TrailSport floor mats . I think he made video in December before he got all facts . Just released video today.
I regret trading in my 2022RTL for the wife's new CRV Hybrid. The new seats and back window suck! I ended up buying a new 2023 Tacoma TRD OR. I think the new trucks for 24 are horrible along with their prices!

Good review with one zonk...the Trailsport has the same worst in class 7.6" of ground clearance as the other Ridgelines.
It’s looks a lot better in proportion and the one thing I didn’t like was how the bed looked on older models
This and Nissan Frontier are the only V6 left for mid size truck market... I was gonna get Tacoma but made in Mexico and turbo 4 made me stay as far away as possible from it.
I feel the same. Id take a v6 from nissan vs any 4 turbo. Hopefully they will be reliable but i just do not trust turbos for long term use.
If Honda raised the front end by 2in and the back by 1.5in from the factory I would be sold on this truck. Oh by the way I bought this exact truck and put a small lift on it. now I can do a little offroading with confidence.
What lift kit did you go with? There are a few out there and I’m considering doing this. I also bought this exact truck. Same color and all.
@@bionicwolf3342 I bought the Traxda 2in front and 1.5in rear lift. I noticed no difference in ride quality.
@@therues7071awesome thanks for replying. I’ll look into that brand.
I'd love to apply your exact same lift kit to my 24' TS. Did your height modifications decrease the mpg's? That's my only concern.
Yes of course Joe & I will try to buy this truck.
Nice review! That color is not the Diffused Sky Blue, it is Sonic Grey.
Great review Joe! For some reason, after your reviews, I am always hungry for a Twinkee.
Honda & Kayce Dutton: “You always ask for too much.”
I would like to see this Honda Ridgeline come with a back scratcher in the pocket behind the front seat passenger.
😆
LMAO, c'mon man it's a great truck, but I like your sense of humor.
I wish they’d drop a 6 speed manual in this. Would be the perfect truck for my needs.
Why the need for a manual? Just curious on your thoughts?
What do you mean by "Linear Torque Delivery" you mentioned a few times?
I would like to see this truck with a 1500 lb. pallet of whatever in the truck bed. How bad does it squat and how does it handle it?
Cant wait for the interior revamp on this bad boy
The 2024 interior is great! my only small gripe is the screen isn't tilted towards the driver.
my only gripe with the Ridgeling is the interior.
Mode selection isnt confusing In real world its fine .The ride and smoothness over shadow any small nit picks
I love the off-road segment!
Lets be real tho: lots of bros will be just fine w/o all that towing capacity, and will use the tailgating feature more than ever go off-roading
The bed on the Ridgeline is much better than other midsized trucks. Bigger backseat too
I agree that lockable bed storage is the probably the best part of the truck.
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video 👍
Not bad looking.
The old model looked goofy. I really like this newer look.
I'm not sure what we are meant to do with the space "freed up" by using a push button gear selector.
Set a pie on the middle console so I can snack on while driving? 🤔
Use it as a center seat for another passenger? 😵💫
I would just prefer a traditional handle on the gear selector.
I hate my Mercedes' gear selector too.
Thank God it didn't use the Honda interior, from the CR-V or the Civic or the Accord. This actually looks good, sophisticated, and ergonomically correct.
It looks like the interior of an Odyssey from 2018. The interior is long overdue.
@@ArizonaHotSauce interior is nice, it is funny to see for some people if the front display is not sticking out "it is long overdue"...
@@olegklenin451 the iPad on the dash is the antiquated design. People don't see it.
This is getting me excited 😂. And I’m a woman.😊 What’s the ground clearance? The mpg stinks unfortunately. But I love a V6 so…..😊
Interesting. Another online review of a Trailsport. None of the dealers in this area stock them. Mostly RTLs and a couple of Black Edition.
Appreciate the off-road segment.
Thanks! I try to bring it all.
Only issue i have with my 2021 is spoiler on truck lid pulls out of its mounting points
Its good pick up😊
It really does so many things well.
my Ram was a Wagoneer with a bed.
@@jakes5530I mean that’s what I was saying, I bought this truck I love everything about this truck except the safety features.
100% agree, I have this truck as well. I came from a 2020 sonata, I know this truck is 10 times more reliable but i do miss the tech of my sonata
Bought it. Love it.
Essentially a base F150 or a loaded Ridgeline for the same price 🤔
ua-cam.com/video/cKFPcmuOdqU/v-deo.html
just make sure you watch the video below before you buy Ford...
Holy crap the redline starts at 40k!!! 😮 the SantaCruz is 25k or sum
Legendary Honda
I’d love a Ridgeline but go back-and-forth between this and the Tacoma.
Not a bad looking Midsize truck at all.
very informative video ...
Thanks Keith Chicago IL
What did you trade it in for?
Thank You Keith Chicago IL
Ur the best ... from Iraq ❤
FYI there is no extra ground clearance in trailsport ridgeline 7.64 inches on all trims…unlike pilot trailsport which has 8.3 inches- makes no sense to me!
is it ok for off road?
The shoulder maybe.
06 for ridgeline
There is a sport mode
So tired of the pilot with a bed not a real truck bs
Yeah we get it
Great overall utility vehicle
Best not a truck, truck I’ve owned
I want one soo bad !!! 🔥🔥😍
the gear shifting modes is such a turn off. Any feedback from people that actually drive this everyday?
I'll wait for the fully BEV version of the BYD Shark. We are getting screwed, when it comes to vehicles, in the US. Kia also has a new truck coming out.
So this color called blue sky?
I thought they called Sony grey
Maybe I wrong 😂
Looks like Sonic Grey Pearl.
Yah he called it wrong color. He also said 1 inch taller the standard Ridgeline. Doesn’t have the orange Ridgeline TrailSport floor mats . I think he made video in December before he got all facts . Just released video today.
Will there be a HYBRID version of the Ridgeline in the NEAR future??
I regret trading in my 2022RTL for the wife's new CRV Hybrid. The new seats and back window suck! I ended up buying a new 2023 Tacoma TRD OR. I think the new trucks for 24 are horrible along with their prices!
These are great for senior citizens, who need a little extra storage to haul multiple cases of Campbell's Soup home from the grocery store when they go on sale.
You really wasted your time to write that pathetic comment
