- This is the second video on the Apple Macintosh Powerbook 100 from 1991.
In this video, the Macintosh Powerbook 100 will be started up to demonstrate MacOS 7.5.3.
The games "Klondike" and "Tetris" will also be demonstrated.
if you notice there is a PowerBook 100 was a Same Macintosh II Startup Sound
Pretty snappy given it's running the bloated system 7.5. I installed 6.8.0L and its noticeably faster.
Hmm, it seems that the hard drive of this Powerbook 100 from 1991 is much quieter than hdd of my Compaq Armada M700 (20 GB) from 2000. This is very strange for me.
I have this very machine and I wish I can get it booted up.. it runs but there's lines across the screen and I can hear the HDD spinning and some sounds and stuff and that's it,.
Did these run any kind of word processors?
Is it running on battery ? Oo looks like it ... but was never able to find replacement SLA battery, planning on doing a lithium ion replacement, actually restoring mine out of 3, but looking for a cheap SCSI HDD and they're so hard to find nowdays
My Poor old PB 100 need all its cap replacement :'(
DDElectrical Most of them do by now. You will probably need to replace the electrolytic capacitors in the screen itself as well as the main logic board.
It obviously has a ghosting issue, common on LCDs.
I think this Macintosh is using an STN display
Can the backlight on these PowerBooks be turned off as they can be on the Macintosh Portable?
Run on battery?
are you going to do a video on the apple tam?
I would love to do a video on the TAM - but I don't have one!
Very few TAMs were sold in Australia - and those that come up for sale in other countries fetch a very high price!
Who knows - I may find one, owned by someone who thinks that it is nothing more than an old computer, and is therefore worth nothing...!
I own a WORKING(!) Macintosh Portable in mint condition and other vintage Macs as well and I'm 13 now
I would let you barrow mine but I live in the US
Thanks for the offer!
Hopefully, I will get hold of one in the future....!
