    In the old days, before everything was computerized, we had an appliance parts store in the area. That was so nice. They're mostly gone now or you have to drive for an hour or more. Everything is shipped and you have to wait.

      I miss the days when you did not need to slap some account paper down and you could just buy parts as anyone.
      Today stuff like HVAC to roofing materials is hidden behind government requirements, licenses, contractors etc.
      Greatly limited the market and dropped competition.

    Whether at the supplier desk or the company mail box, I always check. I've been burned too many times by the efforts of another person in a building too far away for me to see them to trust that it will be correct. I write NOTHING down. I do what you demonstrated: photograph the rating plate and order from the manufacture (Who should know first).

    14:20 - As someone whose knowledge of HVAC comes almost exclusively from four UA-cam channels, even I can tell that's a blower motor. 🤦‍♂
    As far as I'm aware, you can safely run a higher microfarad rating, but NOT lower.
    I've gotten so many incorrect, used, or defective parts from Auto Parts Box Stores that I refuse to buy from them unless I need that part immediately - and I look up the part number myself, walk in and tell them I need that exact part number. Otherwise, I order online. Advance Auto and AutoZone won't reimburse me for wasted gas/time (even when the same refurbished part fails in less than a week, many times over the course of several months), and shipping from Rock Auto to my house is faster than getting things to the local Napa store from the warehouse twenty-five minutes away.

    You dont have a local supplier you can get a capacitor from? I know youre dealing with a warranty issue, but i'd find a HVAC supplier or even grainger and get the correct capacitor and send that one back or keep it in case i run into another unit that needs a capacitor with a similar rating. Id rather tie up $20-30 in a capacitor on the truck than wait several days on the next job because i dont have the capacitor. The fan motor is totally different, i cant see keeping a $200+ fan motor unless i was changing out a lot of them.

  • @defleppard6609
    @defleppard6609 6 місяців тому

    Do the heat pumps with a variable speed fan motor and compressor use those capacitors too since they don't start at full speed? Also do you like those units better than the ones that just run at full speed all the time?

    Trane sucks big time. I ordered a ECM fan motor the other day for a Trane A/C and it was the wrong motor, the shaft wasn't long enough. So called Trane and they asked what the motor model # was and they said that model is listed wrong on the master list that is on the internet. Anyway, Trane said they have 15,000 incoming and have like 2000 on back order. Luckily supply house had the motor in stock, the correct one.

  • @YankeesFan74
