@@Cresqa nice, so that’s one out of hundreds. Is this common for big HVAC companies? Because it seems to a lot of us that they are more interested in ripping people off than helping them.
Wrong question to ask. Question that you should be asking is would anyone actually do this without any sort of monetary return? The answer is No. This video will pay for the replacement with time. Yes he's still doing a good thing regardless of this but ultimately he needs to eat too :).
I was having problems with my system not being able to keep up with the 100+ temps outside. I was quoted $18,000 and offered payment plans to replace my system by the first company that came. Another company ACTUALLY checked my supercool and superheat and showed me the readings in real time. I was charged $250 while the technician explained the SC and SH to me and added more refrigerant to the system to get my SC from 25 to 34. Now my system keeps up with the heat and everything is going great. Can't believe I was quoted $18,000 for a $250 fix on a 7 year old system. Rivals an electric company that quoted me $12,000 to replace my outdoor electrical panel with a $350 panel from Lowes. I told them I would rather pay to have a hard disconnect installed and then illegally replace the panel myself, or die trying. I'm not paying $5,500/hour labor unless it's to make my car fly.
Blueridge and you HVAC experts are truly following God's desire that that we take care of the less fortunate in our society .......... especially elderly widows.
Thank you and Alpine for taking care of those in need. Just her mentioning what her monthly copay for medication was is heartbreaking. I am thankful for this blessing for her.
at 81 y/o myself, in Oologah, OK I am just completely blown away at the Program that Alpine is doing there. do they have a dealer in the Tulsa, OK area? My 4 ton Rheem is decades old and my last electric bill was over $400 :( hurts my pension check a lot....
I want to extend a big thank you you to you for all the instructionals. I was recently quoted $13k for a new heat pump system 2.5 tons. I started watching your videos and decided I could do it myself. I got my EPA 608 cert in 2 days and bought a Goodman for about $4k. When I got up in the attic to replace the air handler, I noticed that my duct board had mold growing in it so I had to replace all the ducting as well. Who knows how much that would have cost extra from the hvac company. In total I spent about $2500 on tools and additional supplies. So all in all I have a brand new system with new ducting for only $6500. I’m sure with the duct replacement I would’ve been looking at about 16,000 total. What a savings! For those thinking about doing it themselves, it’s definitely not as easy as it looks but the lessons you will learn along the way are life-changing. I no longer have to call an HVAC guy and trust what they say is correct. I know everything about that system.
A couple more tips. 1. Practice brazing a ton before trying to braze on the unit. 2. The whole process took me about four weeks. Mostly due to me finding the time to work on it and also due to trying to find items that are not available to purchase to the public. For example, finding a place that would sell me duct board was next to impossible. Pro tip for those out there that need duct board, go to Ferguson.
@@meridianline7291 Why? If he has the chops to install the unit and understands how it works, he has what it takes to maintain and repair the system if it needs it.
I like your video, was really detailed even with Timelapse. I’m more interested in the technical as I’m always struggling with sometimes the simplest things. I did a two hose vacuum setup and when I put the schraders back they were leaking. No problem you would think but I could not get the schrader back out with all the pressure. The cores wouldn’t hold and I had to recover the whole charge to change them. I was super frustrated. You make everything seem to go so smoothly.
Nice work sir! Excellent job explaining the steps involved. I enjoy watching your videos, thanks. I appreciate your lack of arrogance that many HVAC people tend to have.
Great video I know she appreciates what you are able to do. I just found your channel a bit ago I think I have looked now at about 50 of your videos. They are helping me learn and understand. Keep them coming thanks so much.
Good stuff Dave. Everyone loves watching charitable work, no matter what it is. Myself, I like the technical side of your videos with the time lapse. I was educated in industrial refrigeration but didn't have a chance to use it so much. So I know the theory, just haven't done much of the work. I even have a universal #608 around here somewhere. But it still interests me and your videos are the best. Thanks.
Good work, DIY HVAC GUY and Alpine Home Air. 👏 What I liked most about this video was seeing someone who really needed a new system and the labor to put in, get it for free. Imagine how good she feels about this. Also, her dog stays cool in summer and warm in winter, too! 🐶 I liked the whole video.
First, bless your heart for your kindness and generosity. Your videos are fantastic and have helped me immensely, as I have been babying my 87 year old mother's 20 yr old, r22 unit in her mobile home for the past three years....adding about 2 lbs. of refrigerant each summer. I expect to have to replace the condenser and evaporator unit at some point. I noticed in this video you did not replace the copper lines. Did the filter/dryer make that possible or did you run some kind of cleanser through them? It would sure save me a lot of work to reuse the original lines.
Somebody else that has finally found Alpine Home Air. I found them and purchased my 2ton Blue Ridge mini split from them about a year and a half ago. Their products are awesome and their customer service is second to none. From purchase to help with install they were great all the way. When I first found them, I couldn't find a lot on UA-cam. This was awesome to see. What a great company and looking forward to seeing more of their products!! Love to see you doing kind services like this for people in need. Great job
I bought a gas furnace…was scared cuz unknown name brand…runs good …had it up for five years before selling the house…will by again, alpine sells to consumer with no license required unlike retail box store…
As a consumer I can certainly understand skepticism when someone offers something for free. It's easy to become blackpilled and assume everyone is trying to game the system or run a scam. It's refreshing when it's not a scam. You earned a new subscriber. I hope she enjoys her more modern and efficient unit.
I installed my 3 ton Blueridge Condenser and cased acoil myself. Unit has worked flawlessly for 5 years so far. I commend you for getting that install project together for that nice lady !
Great job. Treasures in heaven for ya brother. We have an old condenser. Newer furnace. Juts bought the house last summer. The 94 yr old widower was using only a 1 inch filter in a full modern rack. So, we had to have all the ducts cleaned right away! I still need to get some full filters. The compressor just quit last month, but a new cap isn't getting it going (old one has definitely bad). I just got a new contactor... but the old one seemed to be pulling all voltages. I'm concerned it's a failed compressor (but no oil leaked that I can tell). Outside Fins are all clean, but now I'm concerned a out that interior A-coil! It's not easy to get to... some ducting needing dismantled. We'll see how the new contactor helps. I might try a hardstart kit too... 😅

Simply awesome. As a DIY'er, I appreciate how you mounted the filter to the bottom of the furnace and then how you sandwich it all together. I went to school for electrical engineering and I like to work on cars as a hobby to I appreciate the hands on videos. This kind of thing really hits home for me. Just last weekend I was helping two of my mom's friends get their home computer situation straightened out. They are in their 80's also, and modern tech can be kind of confusing for them. If anyone has an elderly friend, relative or neighbor, just ask if they need a hand with anything. Sometimes they are a little too proud or shy to ask for help. Another great video and I learned a lot. Thanks and keep them coming.
Been without AC for over a month now living in the high desert of SoCal, during a record breaking heatwave. Our Home Warranty is replacing our AC and scheduled for install tomorrow. Using a portable AC for bedroom, and portable Swamp Cooler from the garage blowing into the house. Funny how I ordered a Minisplit for my garage and the very next day the Central Air quit working. It has been a tough month but lucky to have had the portable AC and Cooler already to help. Got the Minisplit installed in the garage and is working great. My house is 2600 sq ft and the garage is 1100 sq ft. The Swamp Cooler has been keeping house 20 to 30 degrees cooler than outside air but when we leave and turn everything off the house heats up to upper 80s. Started watching your channel after my situation developed and have learned a lot. Funny too that since we got into this heatwave our local community Facebook page has exploded with people having issues with their AC. From what I have learned watching your videos I will be able to determine the quality of work of our installer.
This is why I started my own hvac business it’s about helping others with this skill, not try and gouge for money. I’m also in Utah and fully licensed would love to help next time you do a free install.
That's vary nice of you to help others. In need...I'm an old a-c guy.. the new inside coils are now made out of aluminum...vary sad...prone to leak.. copper is a lot better..I used to put in Reem units back in the day reliability was good then.. great video..I recommend putting a time delay on the condenser relay..when bad weather hits power outages etc I always installed them on my new installations..to protect the unit..again great video
I think that this is the second one I saw you give away. It makes me smile. What I like is that it supports people who can’t really afford it. I think I will join the monthly option to give a little more resources for you to do this! Well done !!! Ps … one of the things I like about your videos is at the end you put a link to a next video … and I can keep on your channels. Stu
That was so cool (no pun intended!) of you and your sponsors to help this homeowner. ❤️👏👏👏♥️ Being kind to others is what I enjoyed most about this video. It was beautiful.
That is just awesome. There are so many seniors that can barely afford food let alone a new 10K A/C system. Thank you guys for helping out our seniors.
I would like to know more about the savings that the new system will bring. Maybe a calculation of running the old system for an hour and how much it would cost compared to an hour on the new system.
I watch every video you make. I worked in the vending industry and did the refrigeration work. I installed my own air conditioning and my two neighbors (free labor & some parts). At 84 I can no longer do the labor thing but I can do the diagnostic. Keep up the good work. Wish I had all the new tools available now. I still have my old refrigeration tools.
Hola 👋 señor Dave!!! You are keeping America 🇺🇸 great 😊 we need more people like you…I’m happy for the lady who needed a new ac unit cause sometimes the hot 🥵 summer is brutal and those elders live by themselves they need to have the proper home services like cold ac, proper electrical installation, heating system etc Gracias!!! mister DIY for sharing and helping your community…Saludos!!!!👋😃👋

God bless you brother! We have to look out for the seniors in our lives.
how awesome! love how you sat with her at the end! sending good vibes your way!
Thank you all for blessing our seniors!
This is why I started my own hvac business it’s about helping others with this skill, not try and gouge for money.
I’m also in Utah and fully licensed would love to help next time you do a free install.
That would be awesome. Send me an email at diyhvacguy@gmail.com
The Best part of this install was it's Free to an elderly Lady in need! Thanks so much for these Giveaway videos :)
This was a good blend of all the different aspects. I would keep doing things just like this.
Super nice to help others when you can, and older people seems they get preyed on so super nice for you to help that lady!
Because most dont need a new AC system. Older systems were much more reliable.
What a fine young man you are. May God bless you richly for this help you’re providing her…
This is amazing. I appreciate you going above and beyond for them!
I would like to know more about the savings that the new system will bring. Maybe a calculation of running the old system for an hour and how much it would cost compared to an hour on the new system.
Your videos are always good and concise. And look forward to more charity videos.
God bless you man....that's awesome!....The world needs more of this, we should always take care of our elders.
You are a good man!
Over 6 db less noise is a whole lot quieter! She could probably nap on her porch now!😅
Awesome deed you did ... I enjoyed everything about it ... Thx 🙏
Awesome job! You really made a difference in her life.
Thank you for your videos, I have learned a lot from them. It is great that you are able to help those in need.
Very nice, helping senior citizens. Helping a military veteran senior citizen would be nice too. Thanks.
