I haven’t gotten bored with seeing peoples responses to all the nuances in this performance and the force that is Ren. You’ll always find something different with Rens extensive discography. Ren is a truly incredible artist. This was filmed live, one-shot, on multiple cameras. The only cut is when they switch to the handheld camera. Ren spent many years ,severely ill and misdiagnosed with bipolar,depression snd ME. He was given drugs that made him worse developed several additional illnesses due to being untreated for the Lyme disease that took 7 years to be discovered. He has been in constant pain and autoimmunity for 13 years now. He will soon be 34. He has been in Canada getting intensive treatment for more than a year now. Music is his lifeline always and he has a huge backlog of songs of survival. He has now chosen to be the voice for those made invisible by chronic mental and physical illness. Sick Boi, Crutch (2015) live with Bibi was in the height of his illness. It's a beautiful gem, done with no budget.

Welcome to the REN-gades as others have said it is a joy to see others discover Ren and start down this very deep, winding, and emotional rabbit hole that is his Music catalogue. You completely got it Ren and his 'shadow self' in a battle for control. He has written some very moving and thought provoking music without question.
Ren is Welsh as others have said, he spent a number of years quite ill bedridden at times with Lyme Disease as a result of a tick bite as is referenced here and another of his songs Sick Boi. Ren was also deeply affected by losing a friend to self harm that he speaks about in a very raw and real way in his music in songs like Suic*de, How To Be Me as well depression from those two things happening in his life with Chalk Outlines. Both of those performed as duets with the brilliant Chinchilla. He is still in recovery to this day.
Then there is The Tale of Jenny and Screech(and Violet) a trilogy of songs packaged together that I have seen many reactors shedding tears galore over that one. Might need a box of tissues and a good cuppa for that one.
Ren does have a playful, fun if not down right cheeky side though that you will discover. Enjoy the fall down the rabbit hole.

He was under contract with Sony, but had to terminate it due to his health problems. Now he is independent. In October 2023, his album "Sick Boi" was number one in the British album charts.

Ren, on this track, is playing a Cordoba flamenco guitar hence the Spanish sound.
He is a very accomplished self taught guitarist, he also plays bass, piano, and others, I suspect he's one of those people who could get a tune out of any instrument. He's Welsh btw not English. You will have a wonderful journey finding out what else he has done. I'm sure other commenters will point you in the right direction, enjoy!
Congratulations on finding Ren and his legion of fans. You'll notice even after a year, the fans still love to watch reactions of new listeners and Renegades are very welcoming and inclusive.
As for Ren, I don't know if you've dove into the history behind him, but I highly recommend it. It helps give you a sense of who he is, why his music is important, and the battles he has
fought just to get this far. His catalog is VERY deep and nuanced, with practically any genre you can think of being touched on. Classic Rock, EDM Rave/Techno, straight Rap, jazz, heartbreaking duets, cheeky fun songs, and of course, his own Bardcore storytelling.
Make sure to also look at The Big Push, his former band before he had to leave for extensive medical treatment. They have several cover songs, original songs, and live busking performances. He has also done duets with several performers, both in busking and standard music video style.
You will laugh uncontrollably, cry heavily, and think deeply. He is a one of a kind talent.

I appreciate how we can see on your face your "reaction" to the video. Not all reactors do and I can never understand how they aren't physically moved by Ren.
for me what separates ren from every other musician genius are the comments that people leave on reactors comment sections. a very good percentage of them detail how ren has changed, helped, saved, enriched, their lives. For me i found ren by accident a year ago while looking for new reactions to my then favorite pentatonix ( I still love them) but while ptx many times make my eyes teary, ren many times makes me weep tears enough to wash the dust off my soul

I watched Hi Ren just after he released it. I was at a real low point and this really helped to pull me out of it. I have watched it and reactions to it hundreds of times since and lots of his other stuff too. Ren gives me hope.

If you give in to your feelings you are at the start of a massive rabbit hole of years of top quality music. He recently beat Rick Astley to the UK no.1 album. There probably isn't a style of music that Ren can't do and every time you see him switch he does it so well. He plays guitar really well, he plays piano & keyboards. He does serious dark raps and light hearted funny raps. He does ballads and as well as his originals does covers which always have his own twist. As if that was not enough he does his own mixing, producing & beats. And if even that is not enough he was also in a band called The Big Push. There were two other singer guitarists with him who are also highly talented and now releasing their own stuff. That band had original songs and did loads of mashup covers. Their favorite thing was to go busking in Brighton (street performances). All of this is on UA-cam - enjoy your journey. 😄
So I glad I stumbled onto your channel, wonderful reaction - and I've watched a ton of them.
There's so much symbolism and subtleties to pick up on the more times you watch too. I don't want to completely spoil it for you but the two different shadows he casts on each side of the floor, the slightly off key chords he plays when 'darkness' tries to take hold that give that creepy feeling of dissonance and chaos, the lights flickering the way they do and when - even when he's wheeled in by the pig butcher - the "L" and "D" written on the chair for labor and delivery - as if he was delivered into the real world by a very broken healthcare system.
Ren was misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and bipolar disorder about 7 years prior to the video - when it finally turned out that he had a serious case of Lyme disease. So they had him on a plethora of antidepressants and antipsychotic drugs that only worsened his situation and even caused him some psychosis.
He also suffers from autoimmunity that he's receiving treatment for - so safe to say the guy has really been through the ringer and had a lot of material to be inspired from.
But I'd never seen anything like this before, the same way you felt - it was like he was able to articulate the entire human condition (varying from person to person of course) inside of 10 minutes! And with such incredible articulation and raw talent.
And you had a premonition! You said "this guy's a genius" at about the 5 minute mark and about 10 seconds later he said "I'm a genius!" - so bravo for that.
I'll never get tired of this one-take performance art masterpiece and I hope you don't either - there always seems to be something else to take from another viewing.

I will make sure to check that out next, it's dark but another creative storytelling masterpiece - and he's just so good on the guitar.
And he's doing all of these bits live - his 'director' Samuel also does such a great job - if you search, you can find interviews they've both done about their collaborations and he's very accommodating to reactors and just regular people. He's inspired a lot of very different people in a very short time for sure.

Ren is who we been missing and didnt even know it. Hes the best pure all around musican out now and nobody is touching him. He can make you laugh, cry he prvokes every emotion. His pure talent is something to marvel at. Story telling ability i could go on and on. Hes just a genusis
And nobody deserves it more than him. If we didn't have big labels picking some hot chick or dude who can't write a song to save there life to promote and if they went after true artist like him it would be a win win because he has talent you don't have to fake it for him and he would make them all the money in the world. But Ren wouldn't take it he would chose his route again and stay independent and own his masters produce his own music and put out what he want when he wants.
