      Every now and again, the planets align and up spawns a talent like Ren. Someone wwho can play several instruments and the lyrical ability and psychological insight to tell his story in a creative way. He's one of those that, whether he becomes a worldwide superstar or not, will be remembered years from now either way.

    I first heard this song a little over a year ago. For months, I listened to nothing but all things Ren and watched as many reactions to this song as I could find because the first time I heard it was such a powerful moment, I was chasing that same feeling by watching others experience it for the first time. It's been over a year now, and I've lost count of how many times I've seen it, heard it, how many reactions I've watched, and still, to this day, when I come across a reaction that is vulnerable and raw, I still tear up. Every time.

    You've just earned your Renegade badge, Stacey. As a Canadian it breaks my heart and pisses me off hearing about the massive medical bills piling up for life-saving surgeries. On the upside, they caught it super-early, so it's a solid "fuck you" to cancer.
    FYI Ren's "Sick Boi" album opened at #1 in the UK charts, which is unheard of for an independent artist. So he's shown his self-doubt demon up big time.
    Music can be healing, so I am stoked that you've found both Pink Floyd and Ren.
    My Rx for you is this song from a very young Ren, called "It's Alright":

    • @LiannaBabeli

      Actually, Ren's #1 album in the UK is the first time in UK history that a truly independent artist ever made it beyond the top 50. He also made it into the Top 100 of the US Billboard Charts, making him one of a very few select group of people to EVER achieve any sort of ranking within the US Billboard Charts for being an independent artist.

      Don’t worry about pausing as we all have the original to watch whenever we want. We all are here for your reaction and possible analysis from your point of view. This is just like sharing a book, movie, TV Show, music video, song, singer, musician, or performance with a friend to get their reaction.
      So keep on doing what you want how you want. As a suggestion if you do pause just go back a few moments or seconds to pick up the flow on the song.
      BTW Great reaction! I wept my first time in empathy and dealing with a chronic illness myself, I felt seen and acknowledged.
      Take care.

    • @patrickquinlan3056
      @patrickquinlan3056 10 місяців тому +10

      Let me share my thoughts about pausing or interrupting as I call it. I once saw a reactor pause Ren to say "I'm speechless!". Why did the reactor feel the need to say that when actual silence would have said it better? Another example was during a "Sick Boi" reaction. This guy was so excited and kept interrupting every few seconds to say "Did you see that?" or "Did you hear that?" The answer to his questions is yes, we watched it and we heard it. After a while he started to sniff a lot. Then I realized he did a line of coke just before reacting. Have you ever noticed that those on coke only stop talking tp sniff. These two were some of the recent ones. This is my position: If a reactor has something of value to share I want to hear it. It takes great skill to pause without annoying me. Many reactors are very skillful. Those are the reactors I enjoy.

    • @kellyt5341
      @kellyt5341 10 місяців тому +4

      @@Jason_xofilos Or like myself I have it memorized and have Ren's facial movements memorized. So no matter where they pause it I know what is coming word for word. I think a majority of us have it memorized. The reactor will have to re-watch it a few times anyways.

    First time seeing a reaction from you. Super grateful to come across it. I became a huge Ren fan last year. Even bought his Sick Boi album, to help it get to UK’s #1 albums charts. He is an amazing musician, singer, rapper, writer, person. Last night while watching Ren’s The Hunger video, my partner said, “I have to admit I’ve got a pretty big crush on him.” I chuckled and said, “How could you not? If I were female, I’d be crushing on him big time.” Not sure what genres you prefer, but Ren covers them all. Maybe check out Chalk Outlines w/Chinchilla (live), Bittersweet Symphony, and The Hunger, to introduce yourself to his various vocal styles. Jenny and Screech (tales to watch all at once) is painful but beautiful. Money Game trilogy (for Part 2, lyric video) is just, well, damn…you’ll see. 🥰

  • @kennethmichael5404
    @kennethmichael5404 10 місяців тому +35

    This is the kind of artistry that gives "broken" people hope. Ren, through this performance piece, has become to a lot of people exactly what he stated in the song, "...the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope". So powerful, so impactful. Even the song structure itself is incredible. It starts off as a battle between his positive (Angel) and negative (Demon) aspects, the negative then makes an overpowering last ditch effort to reign supreme, tearing free and trying to take control, but ultimately fails as the final act, being the "God" aspect, emerges Triumphant, though still acknowledging and accepting that it will ALWAYS be a battle because we are all "a coin with 2 different sides". It's a beautifully cathartic and raw musical masterpiece. Ren is truly special. Welcome to the Ren rabbit-hole, it's a trip worth taking. This was the 4th take he did and yes, it was done live. Wait until you hear some of his other stuff, especially his storytelling ("The Tale of Jenny & Screech"). You haven't even touched the breadth of this young man's talent yet.

    I'm sorry for your medical history and I hope you have beaten and won over the cancer. I have to say that you just found the most amazing artist with deeper thoughts than everyone else. Ren is a voice for all who suffers and he is a master in every genre. Many of his songs is deep and grounded in his very dark background. I can give you some info about his illness. Ren got sick and was initially misdiagnosed with depression and bipolar disorder. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with Lyme disease. The sicknes led him to experience psychosis, very bad pain and many other bad health issues. It's a wonder he is still alive. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health. Ren is currently in Canada for more treatments and I think he never, ever could go on tour. For the next one I suggest "Chalk Outlines" together with Chinchilla, the live version. Take care and big hugs ❤

    Ren caught Lyme's Disease in his late teens, but it was misdiagnosed for many years, so he was given the wrong treatments and things went very bad for him for a while. When he finally released his album last October, I'd heard it did go to #1 in the UK. He's a remarkable storyteller, with a variety of musical styles.
    On a side note, one of my longtime favorite bands is called Kamelot, and last year they released a song called 'One More Flag in the Ground', and it's about triumphing over illness and injury. Sounds like something you could use, to pick you up after your cancer treatment. I have tickets to see Kamelot live in May, for my 2nd time. Tommy Karevik is an incredible singer.

    Hey there, I stumbled on your channel a couple weeks ago from your Pink Floyd and Zeppelin reactions, I had no idea you hadn't reacted to Ren yet...YAY!! So glad you found your way to the Ren rabbit hole, you are in for a treat, this isn't normal gushing either, I've been playing music professionally or leisurely for 30 some odd year, this kid (well he's 33) is different, he excels in every genre.
    Quick heads up, there is no particular order you need to go in, other than the two story trilogies he has, as far as doing each of those three in order, otherwise don't feel pressured from the Renegades, they're a great bunch, big hearts and super friendly, but sometimes want people to discover Ren in the order they did, just remember, it's your journey, you take whatever path fits you.
    No doubt you're going to get bombarded with requests for Jenny n Screech, it's one of the trilogies, just know it's a TRIGGER WARNING song. There is nothing physically in the videos that is triggering, but Ren paints a very VERY vivid picture of the unfortunate side of life in poverty, so if you've experienced DV in your life, or that kinds of thing gets to you, be warned, mostly in the third video, just wanted to give you a heads up so your not blind sided. Great reaction!! Have fun on your Ren Journey!! ✌️💚

    Dear Stacey, your reaction to Hi Ren was perfect; his music speaks to the heart and you felt and understood it at a deep human level. It is authentic and real and beauty within the rough of his situation only amplifies that beauty, artistry, poetry and musicality. There are plenty of reactionists (if that s a word) that speak of his technical ability and meticulous approach ( one shot, live takes which are immensely impressive) but your reaction mirrored mine as it was genuine connection on a human level and I`m sure Ren appreciates and wanted people to be moved and helped by Hi Ren on a soul level. Sending you love with your challenges/opportunites ( it s all a matter of perspective) x Ready for You , Ocean and Humble are all great Ren songs to name but a few.

This song in particular has resonated with millions of people because we all go through things as you said. People use his words and apply it to their life. He's also a humble person who has the courage to put all sides of himself out to the world through his music. The key is to realise that there are moments of light and dark in our lives and the amplitude might change but the pendulum will always swing and we should never despair in the dark nor become complacent in the light. It will stick with you forever. Don't worry about the tears. Ren was bedridden for more than 7 years being misdiagnosed with bipolar. Depression,ME/ chronic fatigue syndrome. Finally diagnosed with Lyme disease and autoimmunity. He is still dealing with the permanent damage done to his brain , joints, organs and immunity. He can only eat 6-7 foods and takes 100 pillsper day. He has been in intensive treatment for the past 14 months in Canada.
    If you want to listen to his interview with Zach Sang you will learn it from him.

    Welcome to the beginning of a growth and development cycle if you continue exploring Ren's path.
    As for his other music, he raps, sings, duos, mixes, makes one takes, stories, poems, expressions amd plays an absolutely amazing guitar and some piano. He has a couple of amazing collaborators who work with him on his videos and has been part of a couple band, many of which you can see in recorded busking in Brighton (he grew up in Wales).
    Others will fill you in with the forthcoming copy/pastes of his history amd such, but there's my casual introduction.
    Ren changed my life. Quite probably he already changed yours.
    Edit: wotu regard to precancerous cells, I know nobody wants to hear many scientific truths that aren't yet accepted by the mainstream, completely broken, medical system (I work in it, by the way), but I want to at least put a small thought out there for you. I dont know where your precancerous cells are, and yes, it makes a difference, but a great many modern cancers are tied to high insulin (and two other growth factors) due to our insanely high intake of sugar, processed carbohydrates and way, way too frequent eating patterns. 6 small meals a day is incredibly damaging to the human metabolic system, as is the vey high carb and especially sugar intake.
    I could literally write a thesis, but I better stop. A doctor who is far more qualified than me to talk about it is Dr Jason Fung. Might I recommend The Obesity Code first if you want an overview of the problems we have in our food. Also, the Cancer Code may be something far more directly relatable tonyou, but it is pretty deep and complex.
    In short, heal your body througj food, heal the 8 metabolic diseases connected to our food patterns, and specifically, keeping low insulin from fasting and/or low carb can be protective against cancer growth. That being said, some cancers are just assholes and dont come from this, they have just always existed or are from environmental thing, such as lung cancer. I am sorry if rhis triggers you. But I have made these food/eating changes and they completely changed my life. I wish i knew sooner
    I will stop now and just enjoy your videos without pressing this again, I promise.

    Way to go Stacey❤Wonderful reaction to your first experience of Ren. I first heard Hi Ren about a year ago and have been amazed by him over and over again. He is definately the most talented artist I've ever seen in my 60 years. There are so many incredible songs. Check out the Jenny, Screech and Violets tale trilogy. Watch them in that order. Also the Money Game Trilogy is an incredible piece about how the world is run by money. Ren believes that a rising tide lifts all ships, so he spreads a message of lifting up others. He has an amazing heart and the strength of a super human. He has been misdiagnosed with Lyme disease and since diagnosis he has been in Canada getting treatment. His song Sick boi talks about this and his struggles with the medical system. I'm so sorry to hear about your medical bills for life saving treatment, it's unbelievable that people in the US have these insane bills. I live in Australia and it's free, so I can't even imagine how screwed up that is. I hope you manage to get help with them in some way🙏In really happy to hear you are now well and can continue to discover the one and only Ren. Your mind will be blown..... And his catalogue is very, very extensive. The guy was born making music, and he manages to put into words and to incredible music what many people feel and go through by being so open, honest, raw and vulnerable in his music. I haven't been this amazed by an artist EVER in my life. I think he is incredible and I think your reaction was just like Ren, with your honesty and openness 💕👍Keep on checking out Ren and enjoy the ride 💯❤️

Some of his greatest song (imo) are The Tale of Jenny and Screech (the whole trilogy, 13 minutes long), the Money Game trilogy (live versions for Part 1 and 3, the lyric video for Part 2), Chalk Outlines and How to be me (both the live versions with Chinchilla! She is amazing as well), The Hunger/Illest of our Time/Genesis/Murderer/Loosing it if you want to see more of his rap side, anything with the Big Push (busking) for his rock and reggae side and if you really want to have a good cry, try the song "Su!c!de"... Beautiful, heartfelt analysis and testimonial! What a powerful and emotional message both Ren and you communicated.
    Ren’s song and your analysis hit so deeply-it’s an emotional and raw reflection on life’s struggles. It reminded me of friends I’ve lost to suicide, who battled mental illness, PTSD, addiction, or overwhelming loss.
    Though I’ve never contemplated suicide, I’ve faced my own battles with extreme anxiety and depression. Life feels like a constant pendulum swing, but with counseling, self-help, and the right medications, I’ve learned to steady it. It’s a journey-one of patience, research, and leaning on loved ones. Finding the right combination took years, but it’s worth it.
    To anyone struggling: Keep going. Seek support from family, friends, and professionals. This song and its analysis are incredibly therapeutic-a beacon for those navigating life’s highs and lows.
    Wishing you strength, resilience, and happiness. 🌟 Too bad Luiggi Mangione didn’t view this video to reflect on before his trip to NY, it might have helped him fight his dark side.

    Your reaction was so pure and wholesome, very kind too. I can tell you're good woman from how you reacted, seeing you tear up, made me tear up too 😭💙 I haven't heard of him till you, and I've def delt with feeling sad, depressed, hating myself, wanting to die. Seeing you appreciate this gives me hope, because some people don't care about mental health. I would love to see your reaction to bands like the body or Gnod, who capture depression and sadness and psychosis so well. Gnod even has a 19 min song about tinnitus.. if you can even call it a song. I feel like ik alot of bands from so many genres that talk about this topic and ik you have a great reaction to them too. Oh man, I'd also pay money to see you react to hellblade, senuas sacrifice. Its a game about mental health. It came out in 2017, and oh my gosh..this game makes me cry.. it's about psychosis, depression, mental health, and dealing with voices inside yourself throughout the game. Ik you would love it. Pain can teach us alot, and what I've learnt from pain is; " Turn your pain into art. " and I also learnt, " Without pain you'll never learn. "

    Don't ever apologize for being emotional. If music doesn't go straight to the heart of us, nothing will. And speaking of hearts, my heart goes out to you for your own struggles. I've struggled too, with depression and post-traumatic stress. But here's a thing: not only is it personally cathartic, but by reacting so beautifully to some of the greatest music of all eras, you are giving back. The likes of Ren and so many other artists are creating beauty from darkness, and that's something to love and celebrate. Much love to you, human to human.
