This is so bold of Lee; boss of a guitar shop, around great guitar players and techs every day, playing for 20 years, and to be willing to go on camera with a tutor and admit how little he knows - very keen to see how these lessons progress- great series idea!
Can't upvote this enough - you put your finger on what's great about this video - the guitar world is so much ego and insecurity and he just lays it all out there..... impressive
I've got to admire Lee for doing this on the youtubes in front of thousands of people. I'm not sure I could do it. Particularly knowing how awful these comments can get. Kudos to you, mate. Justin - you've helped me become a better player for at least the last 7 years. Your inspiration has also kept me playing when I started to get frustrated or bored. Thank you so much for everything you do.
No shame in admitting to one's shortcomings but it takes real humility to do it so publicly, as the man said, in forum where the haters love to hate. Good on yer Lee and Justin in your collaboration.
the andertons comment section has more ignorant keyboard warriors bashing rob's playing and praising lee's playing from what i observed. i think admitting one's shortcommings is quite a smart move to fend off haters though.
Andertons Music Co Starring Captain as Captain America, Chappers as the Hulk, Danish Pete as Dr Strange, Ariel as the Iron Man and Joss as Starlord. Where they have to stop John Mayer from gathering all 6 top shelf guitars and turning the universe into his Wonderland
It really takes balls to tell all your flaws and misconceptions as a guitar player to a professional guitarist/kung fu master while the cameras are rolling just to help other guitar players alike who are stuck in a rut in someway or another. A proper salute to the Cap.
Lee's got a good group; but I think he needs The Worlds Angriest Guitar Player in his ranks... Angry has amongst the most views of all the Internet Guitar Players..
This is exactly the level of instruction I need for myself! I am not an alphabet reciter but I am an alphabet soup splasher. I jumble up the scale in various ways and hope it sounds right.
Mark DP What? An effing nickname. What are you, twelve? Here in Australia, we're a bit strange about things like that. If a slang name doesn't come naturally we tend to use the person's actual name - weird I know !!
JustinGuitar Started playing about 6months ago. Everything I know I'm learning from you! You're probably the best guitar teacher out there. Keep up the good work 👍
I started learning guitar about 3 years ago, in my late 40's, and Justin's structured lesson plans and friendly demeanor were exactly what I was looking for. Whenever someone expresses interest to me in learning to play guitar, I always refer them to Justin.
I've been watching Justin's videos for years trying to learn to play. I've been watching Lee and Rob for years for their videos on gear and to have a little bit of a laugh. And now Lee and Justin are sitting together in the same room making a video together? My worlds have collided! Looking forward to Lee on JustinGuitar soon!
Hats off to Lee for having the humility and grace he shows here. Hats off to Justin for being one of the finest guitar instructors anywhere. I’m really looking forward to more from this series!
I love the idea that a lick is the same as a word. Different words have different amount of syllables. So a lick can be the same. Each note is a syllable.
This is like captain's private guitar lesson on a video, basically. But it's awesome and very useful! And it's a great colab.I feel like I owe Justin more than I can earn in a life time for everything he has taught me, basically for free. I'm so grateful for you, Justin!!
Yes - just sent him a donation and it's not nearly enough (bought some DVDs a few years ago but the online lessons are like a wealth of information and inspiration - I hope he understands how important what he's doing is - I think he does :-) )
This is why Justin is such a good teacher. Non judgemental, encouraging and gets the journey his students are on. The best advice I ever got was from an early Justin video on transcribing not just reading tabs. Totally changed my ability to play by ear and over the 15 years since has been my mantra.
The practice for 5 minutes on just one thing is a revelation! I'm a bass player trying and failing to learn guitar. I've been trying to play through songs and just having a horrible time but after watching this I spent 5 minutes working on going from a G shape to a C shape smoothly and for the first time it feels like I've progressed at something. Thank you!
Stuart Carden ive been playing almost 3 years on both acoustic and electric and I hate that chord change too! I'm just getting to grips with it now 🤣 the bastard...
I'm in the same boat as you mate. Played bass for almost 20 years and for some reason decided to join a band as a guitar player. Definitely a humbling experience for sure.
Lees always approaching guitar as blues player. But I never hear him actually play recogniseable blues licks, from old masters. What Lee does play, he plays well, hes kinda got his own signature sound, without having to cop specific licks. I'm in a rut where all I play is known blues licks from others that i have picked over the years, throw them all into a jam...trying to play as many notes as i can..instead of fleshing out individual lick/words to create something new..makes sense. Definitely gives us rutted types something to explore. Justin your a genius..great vid guys.
Justin is one of the best tutors online if not the best ever, I've been a subscriber of his channels for more than 10 years now, i started learning guitar by watching his lessons and song tutorials, I highly recommend him to all Andertons viewers especially those just starting, an absolute great chap.
I absolutely love that the Captain is doing this. It is very vulnerable. To be up front that he has been playing guitar for 30 or so years and he is where he is at, is awesome. I am in the same boat. Thanks Lee!
Justin in my opinion is the best guitar teacher on UA-cam. Very happy to see him on the Anderson's channel and love the Rutbuster idea. Please never stop this series!!!
Wonderful lesson. I’ve played for 45 years but under Justin on his site I learn more in 40 min. Than a year on my own. His and Tim Pierce’s sites are the only ones worth it. Thanks Andersons I get a lot out of watching y’all, here in Texas.
Im SO glad to see. Andertons doing something with Justin. I watched JustinGuitar for quite awhile before i heard of Andertons. Justin has an unbelievable catalog of songs and lessons and hes seemingly a really good guy. I know that cares about people. Welcome to Justin! ; )
This is like Star Wars and Star Trek had a baby. Two of my my favorite channels. Guitar is not dead as long as there are people like Captain Lee and Justin. Hallelujah!
In this series, Justin is not only teaching us how to play guitar, he is showing us how to TEACH. Brillant ! thx Andertons for sharing this knowlege for free.
Respect for the captain...taking such a lesson and showing it on the internet is very inspiring. we should all able to show our weeknesses, embrace them and then conquer them!
Absolutely love this series. Justin is a natural teacher. I came across his website about 6 years ago and it set me back on the path to playing again after a 10 year period where I'd basically given it up. Cannot thank him enough.
As opposed to camera facing tutorials, this interview/interactive lesson is fantastic. I don't know that I've ever seen that on any other channels, but it is absolutely fantastic. You have good questions coming from Lee and killer insight from Justin. Keep it up!
Oh Lee---you are my flipping hero! So much more than the obvious virtuoso names we all know. Your courage, your honesty and commitment for not other reason than to develop your self are so inspiring that I feel privileged just to have heard of you-let alone watching you grow and learn and inspire legions of others. You are amazing. Thank you, sir!!!
Been watching Justin videos for years. He is so rare in that he can really play guitar, yet he is outstanding at explaining things to beginners in a way that makes sense. He was born to teach.
I was literally on Justin's channel trying to help me out with this exact title. Thank you so much Captain and Justin, I haven't even watched the video yet.
that is honestly one of the best guitar teacher advice i´ve ever heard. Use a lick, play it till you are bored and than change it...that opened my eyes after 10 years of playing guitars .... THANK YOU. And by the way... if you want to learn to play "cant stop" the right way... check Justins tutorial.
Lee this was absolutely inspired. Your best - and along with the Danish Pete lessons the bravest - work you’ve done. It’s simply inspirational. This channel is in a league of its own on UA-cam.
I have I have followed Justin for around 5 years now and he is a great player, a fine example of the human race and the best guitar teacher on the internet. Along with Paul David's 😉. This series will be the best yet.
Lee, you 100% have to continue this series. Please. So much of this applied to my practice and playing. The combo of you and Justin is fantastic. Thanks!
This is a really good avenue to take, I bought some of Justin's lessons and he really does explain things well. I tend to play the same stuff and style over and over, so he really helped me get out of the rut.
Major respect Lee!! To put yourself in front of the world with all your faults. A lesson in humility as well as a fantastic lesson in guitar. There are many of us out here who are in and around the same place in our guitar playing journey.
Justin is my first guitar teacher. He taught me so much. I would never forget when following his program that i had a timer and some chords and tried to get as much chord changes as possible, good times. Thank you Justin!
This guy pretty much taught me how to play the guitar. Man, its been a long road, kinda feel somewhat nostalgic seeing Justin. If you're reading this man, i just wanna say thank you for everything you've taught me.
I found Lee very good at identifying his playing issues/frustrations, they are very very common to a lot of players, and Justin was able to address them very well and find the right solutions. Well worth watching both as an intermediate player AND teacher perspective!
Justin has to be the best UA-cam guitar teacher for beginners to intermediate players. I owe so much to his free content. Thank you Justin for changing many peoples lives :)
Great concept guys, can't wait for the next episode, but I do need the time to practice what I've seen. Lee, thank you for having the the courage to do this for us. All guitar players have, will be, or are going through these challenges. Been learning from Justin for quite some time. As he said, "it's a life long journey.
I bought Justin's book and did the beginner course and eventually gave up guitar altogether. I still love watching Andertons TV though and this was just an absolute treat...so much so that I dug out my acoustic and had a strum, but it went straight back in the case. Loved watching this - Justin is such a natural teacher and communicator!....well done both!
I have followed Justin and Andertons' UA-cam for years. Learnt a lot of "how to play" from Justin, and a lot of "what gear is out there/best" from Andertons. So this collaboration is a dream come true! Well done lads, I look forward to many more of these!!!!
I lived in Tassie for about 5 years and I always found the music scene there better than Sydney. being back in Sydney now for about 5 years and just came back from a holiday there for a week 2 days ago, and I saw a band or a guy playing music every single day I was there and I traveled all over the place.
Tasmania is like Melbourne-Lite, if that makes sense. We've mimicked a lot of their culture, even outside of the music scene. We're pretty blessed to have so many different acts in different genres, from Jazz to Djent. A lot of locals don't seem to appreciate it though, always in want of being somewhere with more hustle and bustle.
Mauricio Eduardo Santana, It's the weather and Poker Machines. Colder climates always have better music scenes, though Sydney and the whole East Coast was great when I was growing up on the Central Coast in the seventies, eighties and, well all late last century. Mand that sounds weird - "last century". Poker machines have ruined the live music scene everywhere they are and there's plenty of them in NSW Clubs and Hotels/Pubs.
Oh my god my 2 favorite channels/youtubers come together for a series ... this just made my year *screams like a fan girl* hopefully this is gonna be a regular series :) cheers, love you guys hehe
Hi Justin....i just want to thank you with all my heart. Your channel introduced me to guitar and it has been a madness since then. You are my first Guitar hero and thanks to captain for starting this series. Love from India.
This would have to be the best UA-cam video I have ever watched. Two guys I respect. Just being real. Lee thanks for being vulnerable so we can all learn.
Brilliant video, great to watch just how good Justin is at teaching , his ability to conunicate eloquently with passion and compasion for where the pupil is at on thier individual journey is a pleasure to watch. His ability to control the lesson despite the pupils attempts to take over the classroon is hilarious and exceptional. Well done chaps.
Its about time!! Anyone who as gone through the pain of learing guitar on youtube knows Justin. Wonderful combo and he has never charged a penny for his lessons ... Great man and great player.
This is so bold of Lee; boss of a guitar shop, around great guitar players and techs every day, playing for 20 years, and to be willing to go on camera with a tutor and admit how little he knows - very keen to see how these lessons progress- great series idea!
It's really setting the ego aside isn't it. Says a lot about him as a person, I like it! This was a great vid :)
Can't upvote this enough - you put your finger on what's great about this video - the guitar world is so much ego and insecurity and he just lays it all out there..... impressive
So true. But when he referred to himself as a "kind of an intermediate" player I wanted to cry, lol.
This makes me want to buy my musical supplies and guitars from Lee even though I'm in the US
I've got to admire Lee for doing this on the youtubes in front of thousands of people. I'm not sure I could do it. Particularly knowing how awful these comments can get. Kudos to you, mate.
Justin - you've helped me become a better player for at least the last 7 years. Your inspiration has also kept me playing when I started to get frustrated or bored. Thank you so much for everything you do.
I don't see the shame in admitting your own shortcommings and trying to improve. I really don't.
No shame in admitting to one's shortcomings but it takes real humility to do it so publicly, as the man said, in forum where the haters love to hate.
Good on yer Lee and Justin in your collaboration.
Roundtablist Not everyone has the courage to admit that, especially infront of massive internet audience. He really nailed it. He got the confidence.
the andertons comment section has more ignorant keyboard warriors bashing rob's playing and praising lee's playing from what i observed. i think admitting one's shortcommings is quite a smart move to fend off haters though.
Keyboar warriors always be keyboard warriors.
And they said infinity war was the best collaboration...
ha ha - good one!! And for fun, please list each Andertons TV presenter as the Super Hero they would be ;)
Andertons Music Co Starring Captain as Captain America, Chappers as the Hulk, Danish Pete as Dr Strange, Ariel as the Iron Man and Joss as Starlord. Where they have to stop John Mayer from gathering all 6 top shelf guitars and turning the universe into his Wonderland
spot on
You beat me to the punch. This is the collaboration of 2018
Fox Mulder it is
It really takes balls to tell all your flaws and misconceptions as a guitar player to a professional guitarist/kung fu master while the cameras are rolling just to help other guitar players alike who are stuck in a rut in someway or another. A proper salute to the Cap.
Okay, this confirms that Lee is slowly accumulating all the best internet players. He even got Justin to move house. His power is unlimited.
He needs Marty...
He keeps them all in a box.
No escape, no help is coming.
Will Anderson great comment
Captain is thanos in disguise confirmed.
Lee's got a good group; but I think he needs The Worlds Angriest Guitar Player in his ranks... Angry has amongst the most views of all the Internet Guitar Players..
This is going to be one of my favorite series. More of Justin and Pete lessons.
spot mfd agreed
This is exactly the level of instruction I need for myself! I am not an alphabet reciter but I am an alphabet soup splasher. I jumble up the scale in various ways and hope it sounds right.
agree; though he needs a nickname.. We got Danish Pete.... So how about Aussie Justin?!
Mark DP What? An effing nickname. What are you, twelve? Here in Australia, we're a bit strange about things like that. If a slang name doesn't come naturally we tend to use the person's actual name - weird I know !!
My god. Justin, your website taught me how to play guitar a long, long time ago when you first started. Thankyou. You changed my life.
Same here

Justin is such a kind, humble and really competent person who actually stimulate learning - and not just being a teacher
I started learning guitar about 3 years ago, in my late 40's, and Justin's structured lesson plans and friendly demeanor were exactly what I was looking for. Whenever someone expresses interest to me in learning to play guitar, I always refer them to Justin.
I love Pete and Ariel but you can tell how great of a teacher Justin is watching this.
Rut Busters is a great idea, and doing it with Justin is even better.
My first guitar teacher!!! Holy ....it's been a while. Thank you for all your work Justin.
Justin is a legend lol. He was my first teacher too!
Justin is such a great teacher. He isolated several things in cap's playing within minutes and gave wonderful, constructive criticism.
Each note is a syllable.

justin a legit youtube hero. Taught me how to play Little Wing. Legend.
Justin’s sound is fantastic. And I hope, it will be a series. He is a fantastic teacher and the Captain is a great partner.
Very brave to do on camera cptn well done mate. I’m in exactly the same place but not as good as you
Brave is an accurate term
Let's take a moment here to appreciate how great of a teacher Justin is. The guy is a master at keeping students interested.

So weird to see and hear you both together in one video after so many years watching both as separate entities in my youtube life.
I absolutely love that the Captain is doing this. It is very vulnerable. To be up front that he has been playing guitar for 30 or so years and he is where he is at, is awesome. I am in the same boat. Thanks Lee!
Oh man I started playing electric guitar with Justin's videos 10 years ago. Great teacher and great to see him here as well.
Justin in my opinion is the best guitar teacher on UA-cam. Very happy to see him on the Anderson's channel and love the Rutbuster idea. Please never stop this series!!!

Pete is a great player, but Justin is a great teacher.
Justin, along with Marty, constitutes everything I know about guitar. What a great player, fantastic teacher. So happy the Captain has invited him in.
Thank you, my rut will now be looked at in different light. Thanks! 45 years in rut takes beating :-)
Been watching Justin videos for years. He is so rare in that he can really play guitar, yet he is outstanding at explaining things to beginners in a way that makes sense. He was born to teach.
Ok I love, I mean LOVE this partnership. This is epic. My two favourite guitar personalities in one video.
Congrats to you Lee for opening up on your strengths and weaknesses on the guitar. It shows that we are all human. Good on you brother!
I was literally on Justin's channel trying to help me out with this exact title. Thank you so much Captain and Justin, I haven't even watched the video yet.

This guy is amazing, he makes learning guitar engaging and fun, it’s great!
Justin is the man when it comes too playing and getting over theory if you don't seen to get it. Much love to him and Lee!!
9:29 Shakespeare!
Great lesson, though. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and insight with us.
Lee's playing has gotten so much better. I have been watching forever.
'What's your favourite lick?'

Hey Justin!! I have been watching Justin for a long time. Your in good hands Lee.
Teaching is an art in itself and Justin is brilliant in his teaching.
This series is great!
More of this please !
I found Lee very good at identifying his playing issues/frustrations, they are very very common to a lot of players, and Justin was able to address them very well and find the right solutions.
Well worth watching both as an intermediate player AND teacher perspective!
And also props to lee for putting his ability on display i would be terrified
Justin has to be the best UA-cam guitar teacher for beginners to intermediate players. I owe so much to his free content. Thank you Justin for changing many peoples lives :)
Awesome, more like this....
You can play your way to a new way of thinking, but you cannot think your way to a new way of playing. Lesson learnt sire. Very insightful!
Great concept guys, can't wait for the next episode, but I do need the time to practice what I've seen. Lee, thank you for having the the courage to do this for us. All guitar players have, will be, or are going through these challenges. Been learning from Justin for quite some time. As he said, "it's a life long journey.

I watched Justin before but this video just did a thing for me.... lets see where it takes me
Justin is a great teacher , knows how to explain stuff. Been watching him for years, good move the captain !!
Justin is from Tasmania, where I currently live - there is a vibrant music scene here, good stuff
Michael Gorman I was at Elizabeth College a few weeks back to watch a gig. Justin's picture was on the wall there. Great stuff.
I lived in Tassie for about 5 years and I always found the music scene there better than Sydney. being back in Sydney now for about 5 years and just came back from a holiday there for a week 2 days ago, and I saw a band or a guy playing music every single day I was there and I traveled all over the place.
I think the proximity to Melbourne doesn't hurt either, definitely a musical place Tassie

Justin is an excellent teacher, when I wanted to learn guitar 10 years ago, Justin's UA-cam channel was where I started...
What a great video! I finally feel that I'm not alone! Thank you very much!
This guy is the best. Justin has done more for my guitar career than anyone else has. He is just a killer teacher.
Best thing I've watched in a long time.
This would have to be the best UA-cam video I have ever watched. Two guys I respect. Just being real. Lee thanks for being vulnerable so we can all learn.
This is amazing
Justin is such a good teacher! Some people are so natural at it and consequently really engaging to listen to!
More of these are needed :) get the guitarists out the rut
I like Justin. His instruction is very clear and he hardly interrupts which is nice
Marvel: Infinity War is the most ambitious crossover in history
Me: *shows this video*
This series is the best thing on the Internet.
Justin is UA-cam royalty.
