It's so cool to see such diverse locations and styles... One minute it's like a western, then on a beach, then it's cyberpunk, desolate dark planets, colorful vegetation, deserts... Seems like they have managed to mend together so many things for this game.
12:22 I've always felt that the color difference is because one door is outside and one door is inside. Like you're entering a courtyard or some like that from that big golden door and the bronzer door is inside the building going into the meeting room
Yes, you can see over the top of the inner doors.
It could also just be a switch from day to night.
I was going to say the same thing. It seems obvious that they are different scenes as arm with the watch just disappears as the door opens. I think they just edited two scenes together.
As you walk into the room you can sea stars through the cealing window, this tells me it's a different door also
Also, when he walks to the door the sun is shining and when he is inside where the telescope is shown, it seems like the roof is open and you can see the stars so it might be night time.
I think the Red Mile is going to be a Running Man type contest, where contestants try to survive a run through an extremely dangerous environment. The people seen at the terminals are placing bets and gambling on things like who survives, how quickly contestants die, etc...
I’m 100% doing a neon into red mile run
I agree. There's also the outline of a person running on the Red Mile sign.
Same, the moment I saw it. lol.
I'm hoping they add an option for us to interact and compete in an MMO fashion in future, perhaps?
yeah, the planet looks pretty hostile weather effects wise, all that cold and storms and darkness, must be a really cool setting for having a contest like this.
Sounded more like a Cyberunner death match crash course. Like they give you a dangerous/high risk mission to smuggle/retrieve illegal goods. And you've got to get the stuff back to them or wherever the goods are supposed to go in a fixed time. Success = HUGE paycheck & rep/status. Faiure = bounty, jail and even death. So perhaps that's what those NPCs are doing, betting on the Cyberunners delivery time/repuatation.
I think the gold door was the front door and the darker doors are the inside doors tbh
This. I think this is actually a very clear and easy distinction. You can tell from the lighting how your character was outside, and then it's obviously darker being inside.
Furthermore, after you enter the bronze colour door you can see the ceiling and what looks to be some sort of star design/artwork. Before you enter the golden gate, you are clearly outside and it appears that there is no roof directly beyond the gate, implying an outdoor courtyard style area beyond the gate. Clearly two different gates hence two different colours.
Yes also the height of the doors, the darker one is much shorter. Its just the way it was edited which makes it seem like one door. Probally a gate to a complex with buildings inside.
Bronze door looks like its made of shiny and panted wood.
It's so obviously a front door (gold) and then the door to the meeting room, what large buildings does anyone know of that open from outside straight into the meeting room lol
Haha thanks for the shoutout mate. I wish they actually put me in the game 😂. But I don't think that's me!
haha, Oh man I was really hoping! If I see a pudgy little white boy with a country accent, I'm claiming it!
The Camera head at 13:49 is from Perseverance, the Mars 2020 rover. This is in keeping with other exploration vehicle models we see in the room: The Apollo command module and LEM (13:46), and what I believe is the HMS Beagle (13:43), used by Charles Darwin to research his theory of evolution.
Edit: As @theonlysjc pointed out, this camera head is actually from the Mars rover Curiosity.
Started typing virtually the same thing but then scrolled down to check and you had beaten me to it.
Fairly positive it is Curiosity rover but either way, great catch.
@@theonlysjc Yes, I stand corrected. Very little difference in their outward appearance, but this is Curiosity.
@@SuperWIDEgaming a cool little nod to space exploration either way. Love it!
Oops you beat me to it, I knew I should have scrolled further down. Cool little easter egg for us space nerds and shows Bethesda have definitely done their homework
34:41 My thoughts are the Red Mile is a gauntlet challenge of some sort. The terminals in that frame are casino games, Blackjack on the right, Poker on the left.
3:31 The fact an NPC is just staring at a wall, amongst all this great immersion, just adds even more immersion to me.. Every major city has to have a few cracked individuals who hold lengthy conversations with a brick wall.
Must be high on that aurora
Haha, very true!
If your from California you probably saw this today 🤷♂️
Listen its not my fault the wall is a better conversationalist.
This is by far the best starfield channel. No click bait, not rushed, easy to listen to.
Keep them coming, buddy ✌🏽
Way to keep making entertaining and info-packed content for us all. Keep up the steely eye.
Thanks, will do!
@Starfield Signal: Excellent catch on speculating those flags and patches are assocated with UC factions! This makes perfect sense because the only missing flag is the mythical Constellation group (which lore tells has passed into urban legend based on video). My guess on the flags:
*the 4 military ones are the flags with weapons/swords on them.
*The blue flag with what looks like a wheel cog? Could represent Engineering/Mining colony on Mars. OR more generic like the science based HQ for UC system (HQ for all scientists, medical and engineer personnel).
*The Admin/government one is the UC text one with white flag & black star. Similar to a futuristic Brussels which runs the EU except this is the UC government which is HQ there in Jemison. One flag to rule them all vibe Lol.
21:30 this reminds me a lot of how knights during the medieval ages could have their own shield/symbol. Their shields were often hung together on a wall to show their allegience.
I wonder what we can expect when it comes to smaller settlements other than the big cities scattered around on the planets and space stations.
I've been wondering that as well. I would assume there would be a good amount of them. Shame we haven't seen any though
@@gavinbarnhart5204 The beach with the Paradiso hotel I'm still not sure where it is located.
Just discovered your channel, so glad i did, easily the best Starfield content creator on UA-cam and hope your channel grows beyond, so excited for the game, i still remember the days of playing Oblivion in 2006 as it was my first game for the Xbox 360, Fallout 3 in 2008, New Vegas in 2010 (Obsidian did a great job), Skyrim in 2011 and Fallout 4 in 2015, now we finally getting a new game from Bethesda as it's been so long! :')
As for the door situation, they're probably still using screen caps from different iterations of the game. It's not guaranteed that all of what we've seen is even in the final cut of the game we receive. And as others have said, with the way they have edited most of these releases, it could just be a cut from external door to internal door.
Also at 14:44 ... that is the head of the Curiosity rover that is currently on Mars.
I can't wait to play this on Xbox series X in HDR. On my OLED TV this game is going to look incredible.
At 12:12 I believe the door changes. I think we go from an outside door and transition to an inside office door. Same design on the door because it's a part of the same building, but it's not the same door. It would be a little odd to have that super large door lead into an office. I could be wrong though!
My thoughts too. It would be an odd transition from an outside courtyard directly into that library area. I'd expect an interior hall or lobby to be between the golden door and the bronze interior door.
i just discovered your channel. i really like the way u present your findings and the overall flair of your channel/studio.... have my sub! keep it up
15:17 you have the Curiosity or Perseverance (the one with the helicopter) rover. If they throw in curiosity or opportunity (good night Oppy) that will be something else. Keep up the good work my dude!
The memorial is a tribute to the Dev’s. Clara Struthers worked on most of the Fallout games.
Oof 😢
I'm going to write down the names on the UC memorial, then make sure I don't use them when I'm in the Freestar Collective.
@@thefirsttrillionaire2925 bro thankfully, she's alive lol.
The Red Mile looks like it may be a gladiatorial arena setting, with the arcade being those betting on the outcome on those trying to survive the Red Mile to get to the exit.
Thanks again for another great deep dive! Ive watched about 30 other channels and these are by far the best. Keep up the good work.
14:49 looks like the head of a Mars rover. Like the Curiosity for example.
Yes it is.
Correct.
Nice! I find it funny you said it would be 'fun' to pay the bank for the house haha
If we are too far from broadcasts hopefully we can collect/download recordings to listen to while on foot or flying the ship. One of the best things about FO was exploration while listening to BGS's radio stories or talkshows. Mods for this were incredible in FO4.
I personally think the door color you discuss at 12:30 is 2 different doors. The exterior door is golden color while an interior door is bronze. Reason I think that is because there is no sunlight coming from your back and there is carpet. Most buildings have tile or some other "easy clean" type of material for their entry area. Could you imagine 500 people daily walking into a carpeted area? Have to replace the carpet every couple months.
Thank you for the continued deep dives :D Will you be posting a lets play / tutorial on this channel once the game is released?
Oh yeah, lots of streams and tips and lore
Dog Star industries is probably named after Sirius, which is the bright star in the constellation Canis Majoris, or the big dog, and so is referred to as the Dog Star. Perhaps they are based in the Sirius system, which is 8.6 Ly from Earth, so it would be in the game
25:15 my thought is that the 6 flags represent the 6 branches of the military with those being (from front to back): the vanguard, the security force, the air/space force, the more general army (which would be the biggest so they're allowed to have UC on their logo, plus the star really reminds me of the US army from World War 2 so that why i think its the UC's army), the engineering corps, and then some kind of special forces.
Nice thought Henry! Makes complete sense
Hopefully we will be able to sit down and enjoy a nice cup of tea and biscuits. I want to enjoy the surroundings. @21:50 There was a developer wearing a jacket with the emblem that looks like your settings icon. 3rd flag in blue. but his emblem was black on a white jacket. But again it was a developer in one of these videos
This is the first video of yours I've seen, and I've got to say I enjoyed it. Easy to listen to, informative, and kept me entertained. Keep it up!
Was never hyped for this game, or excited or even thought I would give it a go. But wow, I’m getting blown away by this now. Feel like I’m going to get lost in this game so easily and I can’t waitttttf
Not sure if you've already done this, but if you want to do another deep dive video like this, it's worth going through and noting how the quality of the facial animations changes through the Direct, which may represent different builds of the game. So it's possible some of the character models represent an older version.
I am expecting the facial animation in all the story cutscenes to look really good, but all the NPC conversations to be rather characteristically Bethesda. Like the character creation intro cutscene with the miners is clearly much higher quality because it is a story cutscene, compared to something like the Beast Hunter guy, who is just a random NPC out in the world and the animation looked rather bad lol.
12:00 Day and night! When they show the player approaching the door, it's broad daylight. When the door actually opens, if you look up at the windows, it's night time.
34:40 I think the red mile is some kind of maze / obstacle course and the location we see is a betting area just based on the screens and the words she says (sounds like a mirrors edge kinda thing)
I keep clicking on Starfield videos that look interesting and helpful, and your face keeps showing up!
@12:11 i think it was day time sun making the door look gold, you can see a starry sky looking into the room as you open the door, so im assuming its day in the first half, then night when you open it. the lighting is what i think is making the colors appear different.
28:29 I think the bones of the trophy animal there looks pretty similar to the creature they show at 2:25 in the Starfield trailer they released alongside the direct. The scary looking red one with long pincers and pectoral fins, which appears to be protecting its eggs or something, the same eggs they showed towards the end of the direct.
In your discussion of what the UC flags are, the red one with what kind of looks like double-chevrons is SYSDEF, which I guess is the space defense part of the UC systems. You can see it clearly in the three minute trailer video that came out the same day as the deep five. I think around the 1:24 mark in that video.
Thanks so much, I’ll look for that!
The inn in Akila City, to which the NPC voiceover refers, is called The Stoneroot Inn. You can see the name above the door at 28:00.
Fantastic video! Nice to hear a viewpoint from someone that actually has a familiarity and love of the game. All the while it doesn't cloud your thinking giving us well thought-out critique of the things you like and are not completely sold on.
~ 26:00 - I like where you're going with the: Cydonia might be the game's starting location and it might be _the player_ having a "moment" with the artefact that caused the "hours without incident" counter to get reset :)
Red flag with triangle like thing is most likely UC Systems which is in the showcase where it appears you can join them. So it seem like you can join UC Vanguard or UC systems maybe other sub-factions too. @7:44 on the Bethesda reveal video the emblem is similar.
Y'all UA-camrs gonna dive so deep into the game that you won't be surprised by anything it has to offer when you get your copy. I'mma wait and find out on my own.
You're vids are keeping my starfield itch going, hope your channel sky rockets when the game comes out. Just keep uploading these types of vids with tips and tricks when the game releases and I'm sure it will happen. ❤
Around 25:40, where it pans and zooms in on that 11 hours without incident sign... Part of me thinks that may be the beginning of the game. Like, it focuses on the sign and zooms in, and then we see the 11 replaced with 0, and then a cutscene of an incident or to the scene where your character wakes up with the two other miners checking on him.
nice!
That guy you were talking about at 16:40 looks like that same guy from the clip of the little class that was happening outside in New Atlantis
Youre gonna be a top, if not THE top Starfield channel on release
Keep going & dont stop improving G
I thought of SSNN sort of like a bulletin board type thing. where you can go to a terminal and get news or missions. maybe see bounties or hints on a pirate raid kind of thing.
In the bar with the skull I kept looking at the gun hanging on the wall behind the bar. Reminds me of The Winchester in Shaun of the Dead. It could be a unique/named weapon.
I really like the aesthetics of the game and the design of the cities and ships.
The doors were eaither the same or similar. One looks really tall for the city wall but didn't a structure behind it. When it opens, it shorter and opening into a building.
18:57 i wonder if that is the "raptor mixed with a wolf" native to Akila that Emil teased a long time ago.
I think you're right. Must be.
In Akila City, there's a place called "Shepard's" (your face cam was blocking it in this video) but that's gotta be a mass effect reference
22:47, the picture behind the ship on a stand, is the image vanguards flag emblem is based on.
i think the gold door may be a secondary constellation location. noted by the type of door like a vault... the main constellation location seems to be the space station with the four triangle "wings" if you look at the shot when the character walks in you see stars out of the window in the ceiling.
02:11
Nice catch. I've watched a lot of footage so far & haven't seen anyone mention this.
09:17
Was this scene also showing the landing port from a distance? Through the glass railing?
15:22
Looks like the mars rover head to be honest?
20:24
Anyone notice that weird ass bug in this scene before? Really blends in with the rocks...
22:04
I find it interesting that the "Vanguard" uses the same ship design as Constellation?
Also cool armor.
23:44
Nice find.
29:40
Maybe it's German? I know it translates from German to english as "See"... maybe a play on words?
30:04
Chinese Dragon?
Like in Fallout when you reach an area an unknown signal will blip and static will hum until you are in range then it will get louder as you get closer and listen to a broadcast. That would be cool as Pirate alerts or Bounties (wanted folk) have been spotted and or a colony or outpost needs help or materials announcements of your player-based outpost is open for trade.
10:10 as an coffee addict I really hope I can order coffee, too. Couldnt roleplay myself if this wouldnt be possible 😁
The name on war memorial Clara Struthers is an Easter egg. She is an artist who worked on fallout 3,4, and 76. Probably worked on this game too
The Red Mile looks to me like a game show that might be a callback to the movie "The Running Man" and the scene with the door is actually people betting on how long contestants will survive in "The Red Mile"
26:23 I think you've done well in decoding that given how low level the sol system is as you stated to be lvl 1. More than likely I reckon that we'll be on Mars and then discover what happened to earth and then boom we'll be right into the rest of the game more than likely to Alpha Centauri first
At the war memorial at 6:15, you can see the name Clara Struthers. She is a world designer for Bethesda Games and has worked on Fallout 3, 4 and 76. I'm betting the other names listed there are more employees from Bethesda. I've seen it done in many other games and if you go back to Star Trek shows, the placard that is on the bridge of the Enterprise has Gene Roddenberry and many other names from the crew listed on it.
Great breakdown video! Subbed, will be my go to channel for all things Starfield, can’t wait! Thank you.
After starfield is out it will be kinda meaningless to see trailers being analyzed of a game that's out already would it?
@@grilleFire what I mean by that are things such as tips & tricks, good/bad weapons, best spacesuit etc.
I understand the world will be procedurally generated for all but it’s always good to have channels like this so you know what you’re looking out for.
Also to note, his channel states he will cover all things Starfield even after launch.
At 13:50 that is most likely one of the heads of the mars rovers! Its likely from the newest one!
Yeah because it seemed to show alot of "past" (for us present mostly) relics of space travel and technology
28:38 ish
Freestar Rangers and the emblem/logo on top... Doesn't that look like a more detailed logo of the flags we saw at the start ?
The trees in New Atlantis are sooooo much better too!
@ 12:14 Remember the blue dress and the gold dress, or someone will say a car color looks orange but it is a shade of red. Or it could be just shadows and light at play. Or maybe it is the comment my little brother says to me "Maybe it's a tumor?" lol
21:25 I think the flags likely relate to different branches of the government, military, scientific, ect.
@28:12 that trophy up on the wall was most likely killed by the gun mounted just below it meaning it may be a lootable object with special attributes. @29:20 I think the Vol II Hotel is a play on words easteregg referring a vault meaning Vault Hotel. I wonder what it looks like inside and what easter eggs lye within 😅
Keep going man. This channel is going to blow up when the game releases. Stick with it.
15:50 that head is nearly identical to the Mars rover, Curiosity. Looks like just another piece of memorabilia in the Constellation base.
Actually I looked at a higher resolution photo of Curiosity and it's an exact copy. Just a cool easter egg for us space nerds
The robot head museum piece at 15.00 is the scanner head of one of the mars Perseverance rover. Though its probably a test version from earth not the one on mars because a mars colony would fight for that artifact.
Iv been watching your videos on starfield and im so exited for the game i currently only have a ps5 but im getting an xbox in a couple of weeks and i cant wait to see thats in store for everyone when this game drops im really excited.
24:31 next flag to the right (white flag, dark blue emblem) is defo a sword/planet/moon logo. That'll be the Planetary/System Defence?
@starfieldsignal The Red Mile room with the terminals is most likely a casino, you can read Black Jack on one of the terminals facing the camera with a Jack of Spades card on the screen
Dogstar is also the name of the Rock Band headed by actor Keanu Reeves. It might be a nod to him.
no way lmao you're right
Another great video dude. With the flags (great pick up) that maybe the Cog is Logistics/freight dept for UC?
11:40 I believe that it is 2 separate areas and that the first door(Golden) is one of those 2 big step out moments Todd spoke of and the second is a different location but apart of the main story so you’ll encounter them in the same order being that door is just a symbol for the faction.
It was just a good transition to draw attention to the scene after opening the second door(Bronze). Transition being Unique, Exotic, inspirational almost. Then the tinged dark door opens to a clean, futuristic, and inspirational.
I saw quite a few NPCs with almost glowing eyes maybe it’s a mutation that happens through living conditions or a cybernetic enhancement. Or maybe it’s like a robot replacement for replacement of damaged or none functional eyes.
12:15 the first shot is from outside, I bet anything when it cut to the "bronze" door it actually cut to a different door on the interior which isn't being directly lit at the time you open it. Only reason it should look that dark in ambiance even beyond just the color of the door. Also, it looks as if you are walking into an Office or Study of some sort, certainly not a room you'd walk into directly from outside.
29:38 Sieghardt Outfitters might be an Easter egg to the actor Seighardt Rupp who would typically play the bandit or mercenary roles.
Hey, just a quick catch: I think the VOLII SYSTEM is supposed to be pronounced "Vol-ee," not "Vol-two." It's all one word. Other planets/moons/systems with numbers are separate from the name.
I agree
When approaching the door it's day time, as the door opens you can see through the skylight inside that its night time. The colour change may be due to the change in lighting
Is it possible that the scene with the bronze door is actually a different place than the gold door? Maybe Bethesda did a bit of trick editing there? Just a thought.
21:30 the UC stands for "United colonies" so each colony having it's own flag makes most sense. The vanguard guy could happen to be from that particular colony.
15:20 that is the head of Curiosity which is the rover we have sent on Mars, and since they also have a model of a galleon, it probably means that in the lore they have been leading important exploration missions maybe even before the discovery of the American continent, which would be why people think they don't exist anymore
I think the Galleon is just an homage they have in their headquarters for exploration in general, as I'm pretty sure Bethesda's not trying to completely rewrite actual history with this game, like they do in the FO series.
That said, though, as they do have a present day rover mast, as you point out, I actually think THAT suggests that they're what remains of the remnants of NASA, in the future.
Making Constellation, basically , The Jedi. lol!
@@DrNothing23 idk the fact that they said "people don't even think they exist anymore" makes it seem like an organization that had to exist for many centuries in order to be so famous and the be forgotten, so maybe my theory can work and i hope it does because it would be cool
Might be way off base but I got major Logan's Run vibes from the run door in Red Mile. Possibly the various screens are gambling platforms to put money on how far each contestant makes it through the course before getting killed? That was my take away.
In 23:12 it's a memorial easter egg from mass effect 2 when sheperd go to collect tags for his fellow soldiers
So it is possible that the names are the names of ships or ship captains. Or it could only cover some small part of the war, a single battle, or maybe there was a battle right there in that square and those are the names of the people who died in that battle.
I really really hope we will start the game as some kind of worker on mars, then the incident happening, it would be just so perfect and also would connect the player emotionally, since mars is real, and this scenario is easy to imagine!
I remember when oblivion had NPC daily routines and it was groundbreaking. pretty much no games use anything close to that level of programming.
At 38:14 the knife to a gun fight kill has been seen with different people maybe it's a finishing move?
Yeah, with the door thing, the 'golden door' seems like a metal door stationed outside, whereas the 'bronze' door is actually painted wood (notice the wear/crevasses!) stationed inside the building.
30:35, above the security guard are what appear to be water based animals, and I bet they are where aurora is processed from/out of. then the dancers, are dressed as them as a homage to what made Neon so big, due to Aurora, the "fish thing, hanging above said security guys head. There are 3 of them.
Well, if you look closely at the glass ceiling, you'll notice that it's nighttime when the doors are opened and daytime when the door is unlocked. These are two separate scenes of gameplay that were edited together. That's why the lighting is different.
Sorry I wasn't trying to respond to you. I was trying to respond to the poster of the video
30:38 check those fish hanging on the left of the screen, kind of shark-like looking. That's probably where the aurora drug comes from 32:33 some faces on a wall and it says enhance!, that's most probably were we can modify our character's face mid game clinics
The Vosco Head is actually a Mars Rover camera mount. Look up Spirit and Opportunity, Curiosity and Perseverance.
Yeah you're right about the Triumvirate. The word dates back to Caesar's time. The First Triumvirate was a political alliance between three very powerful Roman politicians, Julius Caesar, Pompey the Great and Crassus. Together the three guys completely dominated Roman politics and cooperated to pass laws in their own favour. The Triumvirate broke down under spectacular circumstances and ended with Julius Caesar as sole ruler of the Roman Empire. Until he was murered. There was a Second Triumvirate too, between Octavian (Julius Caesar's adopted son; and future first Emperor of Rome, under the name Augustus), Antony (whose girlfriend was Cleopatra) and Lepidus.
I think in regards to the war memorial in front of the MAST building, the 25 to 30 names maybe the names of ship captains that went down with their ship during the conflict.
2:25 Are you sure that is a J? I cant see the whole letter but it appears to perhaps be the greek letter for Delta Δ - This means it may actually be Demison.
11:30 I would call that more of a brass. I also do not think that the door shown opened by the watch and the interior door are the same. Likelyhood is that the door shown on the outside is like a gate to a house, where as the door inside is just a different internal door of whatever building is on the land, behind the first door. You can tell this because the lighting is different - Its very clear on the first "gold" door that its outside, but the door that opens to the study with the members of constellation inside is clearly an inside door. It's also a very obvious jump-cut.
14:48 Yes, this is the kind of thing we use on mars rovers TODAY. It's likely part of an existing IRL rover, or a fictional near future rover that was sent to a planet outside of earth before space travel was widely accessible. At the very least, the design is exceptionally similar to current rovers.
16:58 Not necissarily outside our Galaxy. Starfield has ONLY "over 1000 star systems" - The milkyway has 100,000,000,000 stars. This is why its always kinda confused me how they say that in the starfield universe the art of exploration is a lost art, because 1000 star systems is barely even 1% of our galaxy.
26:01 No, Cydonia is not the starting point of the game. This was confirmed earlier though i can't remember when....But i do remember we know that we're starting on a moon. Also no, we will not have multiple start locations, that was news from a fake leak more than a year ago.
30:25 This may not be the player character. It could quite literally be anyone. This is B-roll footage.
In reference to the j, look below the desk and it's 'jm' initials
I could be wrong but that thing you said might be a piece of one of the Mars rovers appears to be from either the Perseverance rover or The Curiosity rover. The fact that they didn't use Opportunity (Oppy) instead is a bit disappointing.
If you look closely at the red mile terminals it looks like they're playing a card game with faces of whom I assume to be challengers of the red mile, likely gambling and the survivors I'm assuming get rewarded handsomely with early finishers and the people who make the house lots of money getting nice rewards
