I am visiting with my children and there are not a lot of videos that show you where are good places for children to visit or any tips for traveling with children.
I am really sorry for the bad economical situation that Turkey is going through and I hope things change for the better. Anyway thank you very much for your informative video which focuses on the current situation.
Thank you for all the information you gave us in this video. I visited Turkey last September and l fell in love with that country, their culture, their food, the hospitality, the sceneries,, the history, l can see your point on what you are saying, we go as visitors, to have a great time and enjoy ourselves but it's totally different than when you stay and live there, like you say, it's in any country, it's an adjustment. I was able to see some of the things you mentioned. Not easy for the locals. I do have a big respect and admiration for the country and their people and l wish things get better economically. I enjoy your videos very much. Thank you.
Thank you for your honest and informative video Bery! Coming to Turkey in 2 weeks. Your videos and your itinerary that I purchased was so so helpful. Thank you!
Your video had some really good points and reminders. Thank you Bery! I don’t have any other tips; but I do want to say that it’s nice of you to include your 🐱 in the video. He/she looks so cozy curled up on the sofa.🙂
Thank you for this informative video and your honesty about the topic. I hope the economy will get better and provides better conditions for natives and foreigners
Thanks for emphasizing that people that come from other countries are GUEST, and should act as such--be diplomatic, humble, and polite. I just had an interaction with a guy from Ireland whom while in the Southern States of US started dissing our symbols and culture and just thought it was fine. I corrected him as best I could. (as you say all countries have perceived negatives--including his own). I really hope to make it to Turkey some day, it sounds like my kind of place.
That’s exactly what we are and we should never try to change the mentality and lifestyle of the country that has opened its doors for us, if we don’t like it, is easy, then leave somewhere else where you might feel more comfortable. 🇹🇷 is a beautiful country, you’d love it!
One of your best videos. We have a holiday home in Turkey for last 15 years. For us the cost of living is good because we have sufficient UK salaries and pension but my heart break for Turks as there is no doubt prices have risen incredibly. We visit 3-4 per year so not really not the same as moving permanently. We love Türkiye, the people, culture, food and even the language although still a beginner at that. Hope that you still think that you made the right decision to move from your homeland. Love your videos about travel as we also love to travel to a new place every time we go to our apartment in Didim❤.
Absolutely! Our monthly expenses for 2 have easily tripled almost and we are not buying more than usual, same things, same everything 3x more expensive.
I'm in Istanbul and it's crazy to see the cost of food. I'm from South Africa where our currency is pretty weak ($1 = R18), but this is next level. A meal that costs 200 TRY here costs us R80 back home
thank you so Mach Bery I really enjoy that. i will be coming to turkey next month for work, please can you tell me something about the agents. the good side and bad side
Hello Bery, I subscribed to your channel several years ago, and I find the information that you provide very useful. I'm not looking to move to Turkiye, but I am planning on visiting this spring, insha'allah 🤞. I know you have posted videos on where to stay, but do you think you could post a new video with some hotel/airbnb recommendations (different neighborhoods) in terms of facilities (elevator), easy access to transportation etc. and also compare the pros and cons of staying in each place (flat opposed to steep walks, for e.g). Thank you so much! Please e-mail me if you'd be willing to meet up with me sometime. Thanks!
Türkiye is affordable only as a tourist. But as a citizen /resident, the prices for everything are quite high. I've worked in Türkiye last year and İ agree with you. You have to have some money saved if you want to maintain a bit your confort from your home country.
The price of some food items etc are the same as america. A good pizza is damn near $10 now. More than america. Crazy part? Turkey has all the resources to stop importing food items.
Very useful information you present like always :) Can you advice me where to visit if I want to buy affordable hijabs and modest clothing (dresses, pants, two-piece)?
Bery, thank you for your videos, they’re very enjoyable and informative. We are from the UK and will be holidaying in Istanbul send April/beginning May, please could you advise us what currency we should bring with us? Thank you
Hi!! I suggest exchanging your currency in Istanbul and use only our local currency, Turkish Lira. You can also pay almost in every establishment with your cards and your bank will exchange the currency accordingly, or you can also withdraw Turkish Liras from an ATM. If you want to exchange cash you have with you, is better inside the Grand Bazaar.
You mentioned about you Colombian friend. How did she get residency approved? I thought that is only possible if you are 1) married a turk. 2) work/study. 3) buy real estate $75k
@@BeryIstanbulTips so she went to the normal route of applying for residency? Because I heard since last year, everybody's residency had been revoked cause of the elections ongoing

Hell no! Salaries only increase once a year but by the time they increase it everything increases too and at the end of the day people still cannot cover even the basic expenses. Here’s a video about the current cost of living (2023) and the actual monthly salary, it might help you understanding more the situation: ua-cam.com/video/Rz-wVQ8W6ps/v-deo.html
You talk about citizens, but this is should be about expats. If i came from US or any European country i can live here in Turkie spending less then 1/3 of my income there. It's super affordable for foreigners
Finally you are realizing the facts about the economy :) i think less than a year, i'll see a video from you about 'why i'm moving back to Mexico' lol. I also see many tiktok videos from americans in Istanbul and i don't think they are lying because they have usd and working remotely. If we 'turkish citizens' can earn Usd or Euro salary then i'm sure %90 of the people who wants to move and live in abroad will change their minds and stay in Turkey. For Americans everything in Turkey is cheap. For example they pay $300-500 usd rent for a luxury apt in Turkey which the same apartment in Usa costs $2000-3000 or more. Food is also same topic if you wanna eat kebap in Turkey costs around $10 usd and very delicious but you can eat kebap in Usa costs $15-20 maybe more and less tasty. So what i mean is these people are really lucky and smart who earns usd or euro and living in Istanbul :)
The fact that I haven’t shared a video before about this topic is because I have tried to keep the channel exclusively about traveling but since many people keep asking me on my social media about this specific topic I instead made a video answering the most common questions I get asked the most. Is not that I’m “blind” or I’m barely “realizing” the situation, I’ve been living here for almost 8 yrs and during this time ofc I’m aware of the situation and the changes the country is going through day by day. And no, not going back to Mexico since my life is here, I’m married to a Turk and we have many future plans in this country. And yeah, I know exactly what you mean about Americans saying everything is cheap here, as I said, that’s only for them, not for the majority of people living here especially Turkish or those foreigners earning in TL, the way they want to romanticize the inflation in 🇹🇷 and devaluation of TL is extremely tone deaf, that’s what I tried to mean with that comment, is not a lie that indeed is cheap, FOR THEM, not for 99% of people living here, maalesef.
Also I want to add that thanks to those TikToks many people really believe life here is extremely cheap for everybody, some decide to come and give it a try but once they realize the real situation the end up going back to their home countries, so at some point those TikToks are also misleading others, what I say is, yes, share that life is cheap for you because you have usd/euros, work remotely, and the devaluation of TL against USD and Euro is giving you advantage.
@@BeryIstanbulTips i was joking for you move back to Mexico,we talked that before and ik you have a turkish husband :) i didn't know some people moved to Istanbul only from watching tiktok videos ,they must felt really disappointed then lol.
Hi! Absolutely! Life is a bit easier and way less expensive than in bigger metropolis like Istanbul, I live some years ago in a very small city in the Black Sea region and my expenses back then were literally half of what I was spending in Istanbul. Rents are more affordable and even eating out.
