Sig P365 SAS versus Kimber Micro 9 Nightfall - A Comparison

  • Had intended to review some defense ammo and use the Kimber as a pocket gun and Sig as the compact, but when I reviewed the numbers before heading to the range I realized these two where much more similar in class than I first pegged them, and we should probably do a comparison first and save that ammo review for next weekend. And while its not an apples to apples comparison, I think it has some value for those who are curious about the differences between a micro compact striker fired pistol vs a micro compact hammer fired pistol.

I recently acquired a Kimber Micro 9 nightfall. I love the sights and the Hogue grip affords me a better purchase and recoil control. My only drawback was the heavier factory trigger pull. It was advertised from the factory at 7 lbs. I purchased a trigger spring kit from Mcarbo and changed out the firing pin spring, hammer spring and the sear spring. It reduced the pull dramatically allowing better trigger control and more accurate shots. Great review. Thanks for sharing. 🔥👊💪🇺🇸

I too have the kimber nightfall, it has a nice feel, and for a Kimber is reliable

I prefer the aesthetics of the Kimber and especially the palm swell for a better recoil control. However they’re both great guns. Thanks for the video!

I have a p938 and a P365…both shoot well but my preference is the p938, and by a wide margin. It’s also easier to conceal.

I have both guns. I even have the after market Hogue grips for the Sig. The Kimber feels better and is more accurate especially after doing the MCARBO trigger spring kit. The Kimber is more comfortable to hold and carry. (both are appendix clip holsters in the waist band . The sig carries more rounds and has an easy to pull trigger, but the gun and extra bullets feel much heaver than the Kimber. I tend to carry the Kimber and have a 2nd magazine ready. My Sig has the fiber glow front sight which I like. (both have a similar sight)

I have the Sig P365 SAS. I was initially enamored by the clever sight. In practice though, I found I just could not pick it up quickly. It's a neat idea on paper, but it just doesn't work for me in practice.

I used the SAS version as an excuse to see what the hype with the 365 was all about. I've since tried all the various versions. I agree that I prefer the iron sights versions, but I'm glad I got to experience this SAS version and the mipro bullseye sight. Very interesting concept. I get better with it each time I shoot it. I shoot it much better than I ever expected. For whatever reason I find it much easier to adjust to compared to a micro red dot setup. Maybe it has to do with the cut out in the slide that emulates a iron sights rear sight to my eye.

I just picked up a used Kimber Micro 9 Nightfall and so far I love this pistol, it's very light to carry all day and for me, it shoots great at the range with zero issues with both type of ammo I use. I was concerned about buying a Kimber after hearing about some of their quality control issues I have heard lately and mine was made in the Alabama plant versus the Yonkers NY plant, but so far mine has been prefect and I feel comfortable using this as my daily EDC. Nice well made pistol for the money I paid for it.

I would say the Nightfall has been the most reliable Kimber of the many Kimbers that I've shot thus far. Not the most pleasant 9mm to shoot, but I've had 100% reliability and what I'd consider very good accuracy from the one I've shot. With a slow measured shot I can hit targets that I couldn't hit with the next size up.

The SAS is a pocket gun. flush magazine, draw with one hand and just put the dot on the target. Not a target gun. It's going to be good at not getting snagged in a pocket and getting shots out quickly on a torso sized target

Kimber is very nice but in the long run I think sig is more reliable.
