Ah yes, New York New York! Saw BSA there, packed crowd, what a time it was. When they started the first note of this the place went nuts. Me included. Time capsule memory for me.
I was a regular at Septembers then renamed New York New York back in 83-84 because of this band mainly, Packed, loved the crowd and bar then. My cousin (rip) was the bouncer. Good times, they jammed/rocked their own tunes and held the crowd always.
This was THE premier rock band in Detroit in the early 80s. We followed them everywhere! They were so professional and thought for sure they would hit it nationally. I just assumed they played Time to Move all over the country because it was so good. I was shocked to find out it was only a local song. A great looking band for sure and super nice guys. I remember the girls went nuts over Tim Marko (the drummer). They were very entertaining and great showmen. Miss those days. Thanks BSA!
Ok anyone remember "The Ritz"/"Main Act" in Roseville? Show of hands,,,,,,,I think its a fokkin Kmart now. Where the stage used to be is now women's undergarments so thats fitting
We use to see the Romantics playing and practicing in a garage in Hamtramck in early 80's. Way before they hit it big. Wally Palmer knew a few of my friends that went to Immaculate Conception High School.there. awesome times the 80's !!
Saw the The Romantics in 2003 at a free concert in Las Vegas. The opening band was Yellow Brick Road a local Vegas band. The Romantics sucked!!!! Yellow Brick Road just blew them right off the stage and back to Michigan with their tail between there legs
Seeing these guys so many times live, and attending the same High School (even though I was younger) , I think David was way underrated. Was all about Gary. I remember walking into the Ritz and David started singing "Glass Onion" , and totally killed it. I was really into the Beatles, so that memory sticks in my head.
I went to school with Cindy Marco Jeff Marco’s (drummer) sister. They played Busch Jr high school dance in the mid 70’s. It was a huge deal for us kids.
I remember that drummer coming into the now closed El Zocalo back in about '85. He always sat in the same spot and always had a dime or two with him. One time I was telling a co-worker who he was. He asked me what song they were known for. I told him "Time to Move." what does this guy do? Right after Mr. Drummer pays the check my coworker goes up to him and asks "time to move, huh?" Another time my brother came in with his best friend who was a really good bass player. I, being just a 15 year old knucklehead, told them "hey, that's the drummer from BSA (as they were also known) sitting behind you guys!" My brother's friend replied "BSA?!? Boy Scouts of America? who cares?"
Great song from my youth. My buddy from Detroit mentioned this song the other day. Brought back some great memories ! I had to find it on UA-cam and play it.
Oh Wow! I would see these amazing band at every club or locations they played & when my friends and I were able to go. Wonder if Gary ever thinks of Julie "his sister" they looked so much alike and laughed all the time. NOW this bad should be huge!! Their music still lives & their covers like "message in a bottle", "I'm a rocker" and one of my favs "I wish it would rain". I think of you guys everytime I hear that song. Thank you for being such an awesome band and great group of nice guys!!!
I saw them at what was then JC's Rock Saloon back in "the day". Loved BSA and Rythem Corps. Nice change from Powell trying to make everyone like Adrenalin.
