I haven’t seen a bad word said against the SN0144 yet, I’m definitely picking one up in 11/11 sale. I’m glad you mentioned the 36mm, this will probably be the one for me personally. I also see a new no-date 39mm version with a Miyota 9039. The established brands had better be watching San Martin. They are asking a lot of awkward questions of watches costing 10X more
@@jimbratherton Is there actually a no date version out already? I was just saying to someone, that I thought they might do that. They certainly are asking a lot of difficult questions of the bigger brands, and giving customers a lot to think about too.
If they did they’d lose a lot of money in sales. Homages sell like hotcakes. Perhaps creating another brand with own identity would be the best way forward.
Looking forward to the full review! No doubt it’s their best watch. Steve from Escape Wheel Watch Reviews thinks it’s better than the Erebus Ascent. And I love my Erebus Ascent. 😮
Cheers, but this is just a first impression and not a full review though. Which thumbnail did you get? As there's 3 different ones, I'm currently testing
@HonestWatchReviewsHWR yes it does. I will always wear a thinner watch over a thick watch unless it's a G-shock or maybe titanium. Not saying that thick watches aren't cool or don't have a place because I love thick divers with deep water capabilities also. But for daily use thinner is a winner!
I like the blue one, I would love to have a chance to try the 42 mm version on my hand - I have a Flieger from Stowa which is 43 and fits me perfectly. Blue dial is sold out in the EU shop...
I agree and have ordered one but it is already a victim of its own success and on back order. Apparently I am number 300 in the queue and that was over a week ago. But I am looking forward to getting mine very soon. Worth noting also they have lightened the orange and red dials to be lighter and more in keeping with the shading or gradient of the blue version.
@@borjastick Ah ok. I wasn't aware of that. I knew it would be popular. Good things come to those who wait I guess. Where did you order yours from? Thanks for the information on the red and orange dials as well.
Have they not made the changes to the blue dial then in the newer listing? I’m looking at getting the blue one in, can get the original 39mm release for £150 after coupons and coins, the newer listing with all three sizes and lighter shade red/orange dial is £162. I don’t know whether the blue is updated though. I don’t think the original release blue was too dark anyhow.
@@mosafdar488 The blue wasn't changed as far as I know. But I am still waiting for mine and whenever I check for delivery details they keep putting shipping back by a week or two. Beginning to smell a rat.
I don't where you are getting that price from... As it's currently €360. During the sales it was even less. If you want to grab a lower spec'd, worse made watch and pay a premium just for the name, than be my guest.
I've had my eye on many microbrands and many offer watches I like. But San Martin -- though it might not be considered a microbrand -- is offering the best value for a beautifully designed watch with this model. I might go on to purchase other watches but this will be my first. Keep up the great work San Martin. The Swiss/luxury market has dominated for too long.

It always seems a bit brain dead to add a date to an exhibition dial in my view, it looks like the manufacturer can't decide between utility and beauty, but at least they've made reasonable efforts to hide it. Hopefully a no date version will be made available because in other respects it's a great design.
@@thomas316 I actually don't mind a date on this. Especially because it's at the 6 and is colour matched too. But perhaps they could do a no date version with the 9039 as well.
In many instances, I would agree with you -- but not this one. Utility or Beauty? Why settle for one when you can have both? In my view the best designs are a marriage of both. By way of example, anOrdain offers some amazing watch dials with minimal text, but cost thousands of dollars. Venizianico offers several dials with hands only, but use an NH35 and cost way more than San Martin. Much like the Erebus watches, the date complication is perfectly placed at the six o'clock position and does not detract from the beautiful dial -- at least for me. Anyway, San Martin will probably offer a no-date version soon, so we will both be pleased.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR I may be in the minority here, but I find the logo very loud which distracts from their beautiful dials, this is the only reason I am not getting one, I liked their written logo in their vintage Rolex inspired model.
