WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use UA-cams lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and UA-cam deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

There appears to be an issue with the discount code GARYSN0144, I'm now waiting for San Martin to rectify this and I do apologise for this having specifically mentioned the code and it was set up for one person to use once seemingly.
Thankyou for getting on it as I am pulling the trigger when it goes through !
Thanks Gary. In the basket it’s already showing a ‘max’ discount code applied of $24.09 CDN and won’t accept your code. Cheers mate.
Hi Gary, thanks a lot for your treat …. However unfortunately still not functioning. Best Regards, omar
Doesn’t work at this time. Oh well
And they seem to have jacked up the price another $15. Too many reviewers are saying how cheap the watch is for all the features, so naturally they figure people will pay more.
I had this for a month or so:
Pros:
- Bracelet finishing is next level (Polishing + brushing) as displayed in the video
- Watch is very thin and wearable
Cons:
- Blue dial fades into a yellowish color not to black as shown in the renders earlier
- Bracelet articulation as explained, but you don't really feel that when you wear it.
Only for a month, what did you do with it? Did you send it back?
Two things i would want to point out;
1) The seconds markers. Too generic and the design can be better, It seems like the only thing not cohesive on the dial.
2) The seconds red paint on the tip. All dial colours come with the same red paint? If it's the design cue, then ok. But best thing is to paint it same colour like the dial.
Did you take any pictures of yellow fade?
It’s nice. I think if Seiko bought out a watch like this, they would charge thousands.
All the best👍🏾🇬🇧
Yes. Would be 3x the price😊
No boubt San Martin will be using this case with different dials. I'm personally not a fan of textured dials, so I'd love to see a black lacquer dial, a-la the new O aqua terra. Now that I'd be interested in.
@@peternic1 get the red or orange dial the texture is much more toned down looks more like a fume dial. But in the right light the texture pokes through enough to mesmerized you. It very nice.
San martin has said they're going to do a bunch of different ceramic dial in 5his style.
I want this dial in a bone colored dial!
I already got the blue dial but I'd order another one with a simple, glossy black dial.
I have the Orange one, and its that good I am seriously considering buying the other colours - something I have not done with any watch before.
Get one. You will not be disappointed.
36mm orange dial on the way!😁
the bracelet looks great,. who cares about "reverse articulation" this complaint is nonsense in my opinion
This. Like wtf, it's at best a good indicator for tight tolerance, who would complain about that?
It's the white sand dial gmt effect again - another massive leap forwards for SM. Many many congrats to them.
I agree.....
If you store your watches in a case with those pillow things I don't see why the less flexible bracelet would be a problem.
exactly what I do
There is always a time when you will need to put down the watch for a while and you don't always bring the watch case with you and soft surface is not always available.
I always put a watch down on its side (as you are supposed to) so wouldn’t notice.
I would much rather have a better looking bracelet personally.
It’s odd that Gary disconnected the bracelet to show us when that would never be done.
I'm very excited to see where San Martin is going. Provided they keep the prices low, they're going to become a powerhouse brand
Agree on using female end links. Better suited for small wrists
If you need female end links, the watch is too big for you.
Mate, they have 36mm version of the same watch.
I think male endlinks look higher quality.
Female end links on a watch look like trainer wheels on a bicycle
Small men aren't real men.
While I don't buy into the hype, at least they are upgrading their movements at these microbrand price points.
The wrist roll on this thing is a sight to behold my wife saw it and said omg u spent way to much money but then I told her the price and she was like oh I assumed compared to ur other watch’s that was a super expensive one,by the way it looks. She loves it and she usally dosent give my watch buys a second glance but she actually wanted to see this one in hand. It’s a stunning work of art. My only complaint is there is no purple dial. This bracelet is there best by a long ways imo.
I absolutely love mine. I went for the orange dial and now I'm curious to see what the red one looks like.
Just received my watch yesterday and what a gorgeous watch I love it the blue face is stunning and the finishing on the watch is superb. I have no problem with the bracelet I like it.👍👍👍👍👍
I ordered on 17/11 for £149 and it’s finally on the move. Hopefully receive it this week, can’t wait. Always like watching your reviews Gary, beautiful macro shots, balanced opinions, and fab wrist shots. Oh and your wrist size is like mine! Keep up the good work!
Great video as ever man and it does look very, very impressive 👍👍
Just thank the lord they fixed the bracelet gap from when they used this type bracelet on the SN0130
Nice dial. For me, I'd put the bracelet away and save it for maximum flex and use a good textured leather strap for this. Crocodile, snake or an ostrich pattern leather strap maybe?
Should make for a good dress watch though.
This thing would look incredible on a curved end light blue/teal rubber strap if you can find a color match.
I wish I could make a 39mm sports watch work as a dress watch 😩
@@Horizontalvertigo get a big wrist and rock it.
@@tdugong I'll get my machete and keep an eye out
I love my „JianZhan“! The orange dial looks mesmerizing in sunlight!! And the 9015 movement operates inside COSC parameters! Great Watch! Comparable with my Swiss Watches in the 1000€ Price Range!
Oh big surprise, Gary likes the new San Martin… ha! kidding mate! This watch is brilliant. I truly believe this and the SN0129’s are going to be the ones to point to when we look back and say, “hey when did Chinese start changing the watch world?” I am not a huge fan of the dial (even thought it’s super cool). I hope they come out with some “boring” dials for my boring ass…😅
@@adk7962 the red and orange are way more toned down, they're more of a fume dail and the texture pops through softly under the right light and angle. Those seem more casual. I think everyone wanted the blue because it was so loud like you can see from the video.
That is one ridiculously good looking watch. SM is overusing those indexes and hands a bit, but it is far from a complaint, more like suggestion to add some variety. If I started listing all the major brands that this watch puts to shame, for the price, it would take an hour.
What a looker and a great movement, one thing would finish it off perfectly is a capped seconds hand.
Cracking review thank you.
Love the design, I'm just hanging out with fingers crossed for a green dial version.
Great looking, amazing specifications and i love how slim it is
San martin using miyota 9000 is a game changer for me, well worth the price jump. Am in the market for a black dial gada on a bracelet, so I'm very excited to see what they come up with next
One of these would be a great way to add some colour to a collection
I have the red version, and I slightly regret not getting the blue. The red fades to back around the edges, and the pattern is much harder to see overall than the pictures would suggest. Still, when the light catches it just right, it's stunning! The bracelet and micro adjust works well and is intuitive.
Did you say that somebody returned a watch because it didn't lay on a desk to his satisfaction? 🤣
No, they didn’t return it just fed back to the brand that they thought it was odd
I ordered this watch on 11.11 as well. Can't wait to get it.
Beauty! Reckon I need to do a bit of a charm offensive to get this one past the boss...
Is San Martin moving to a different classification than an Ali brand? Microbrand? Independent?
Regardless, nice watch. I also appreciate they are listening to their customers.
I think so and about time
Ehhhh Idk about that. Still coming from the same factories and designed by the same company as the others. I think they just use San Martin as their first wave when they upgrade a part of their production. Fine by me but this is 100% an AliExpress special.
I don't think that's a negative, it just speaks to the quality of watches being sold on AliExpress, and shows they are closing the gap quickly.
It looks great, particularly the dial and I like the slim case. However, I still really enjoy my sn0116 and recently picked up an Oceanus t200 so I already have a couple of GADA watches I am happy with. Great photography as always Gary 👍
Very nice! Hope it’s still around for the 11.11 sale
I get mine on Monday!🎉
I like that they are making watches of their own designs now. I would imagine those bracelet links are going to get scratches from the tight tolerances though.
Whats your wrist size? Reckon it will fit well on 6.5 inches?
I'm gonna wait for the adventurine dial version. Or let's see what bracelet they use on the next version. Tha will be my 5th San Martin, and maybe 6th too depending on the release.
As it looks as though it’s the same handset as the SN0129 three hander. Is that correct? If so, I’m not a huge fan. That and the completely flat top to the bezel on the 0129 are my only two gripes with the red dial version I have of that model.
Beautiful dial my favorite part of a watch. San Martin is impressive for a fairly new brand
Love it, love it, love it.
It's a stunner. Will keep a close eye on this. Might be my next SM purchase.
Wish they’d offer this in a 41/42mm. They seem to be making most of their new watches in this 39mm size which, imho, just feels too small on bigger wrists.
@@grahamwallace how big is your wrist? I have an 8 inch wrist, and this watch fits perfectly. It wears bigger because the dial is larger than the typical 40-42mm diver watch. It should accommodate larger wrists.
I thought the same about the 129, I waited a while and they released the 130 with the green malachite dial in 42mm hopefully they will do the same here
Bigger case size would get a bigger lug width too hopefully.
I prefer smaller watches I've had a 36 mm Datejust for 50 years it's still one of my favorites.
If you prefer Big watches i just bought a Hamilton chronograph 44 mm $886 on a bund strap. Can't wait for it to get here . This is new 👍
Fantastic looking watch.
Its a real shame they didn't use the bracelet from their oil pressed SN0129. That thing is a work of art
Considering making this my first SM and it's mostly because this is the best looking bracelet I've seen from them. Why would anyone care about the reverse articulation? Serious question
@@SecronSeven It’s awkward when you set it down.
@@SecronSeven When you try to take it off it might take some hairs with it.
@@SecronSeven full articulation can make all the difference in terms of comfort. Compare a Milanese and or a beads of rice to a thick integrated single link and you'll feel it straight away. I can tell straight away by looking at this that it will wear similar to a bangle due to those tight tolerances
@@brianlam9429@brianlam9429 Hmm. Weird that something liek that would matter to someone enough to not purchase it. My santos is awkward when ixset it down and i never once considered that a flaw.
The read dial is beautiful. Damn, what a watch.
I love the dial, would love to see it on a PRX style watch
One of the most beautiful dials i ever seen!!
As good as a Zelos for half the price. From a personal point of you I would have preferred it to be a 38mm. Great to see them use a better movement, although not too much wrong with the NH35
It’s actually more expensive than Zelos last release lol
@@predog18 The closest I can find is their Swordfish field watch at $399, and that has an NH movement in
@@watchalot919 two of the six swordfish 40 and 42 released last week, now sold out, were 299.
Personally I got the dlc meteorite dial 40mm for 399
Had my eye on these for some time, fantastic looking watch and a 9000 series miyota! Going to be keeping fingers crossed they’re in the November sale !
It is very very pretty. Nice clasp as well. Just too blingy for me though. Well done SM.
That's my concern with the dials too. Still considering the blue!
Fantastic watch at a fantastic price. May get one. Not sure if it fits in my collection. Especially love the bracelet. To many manufacturers slap on a boring oyster. One thing though. Not a fan of the clasp. Its to big and chunky for an elegant watch. Give me a half link and a smaller clasp since you need less micro adjusts.
@@jerryglasses it has a more premium glidelock on this clasp. It's very nice. Worth the chunkiness.
If this one comes with an aventurine dial I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Though I must say I'm curious what this dial would look like in a shiny black finishing. Sloping edges on the indexes would be nice as well, for a tad more bling and to set them apart from the SN0129.
I love the bracelet and I don't mind the male endlinks (my wrist can handle those).
All in all, San Martin are on a roll, their designs are solid and their execution is amazing.
I like the use of a 9000 series Miyota movement. Thats a big improvement. I'm not sure about that dial. I wish i could see one in person.
Is it better ? Why ? Rotor noise an issue ?reviewer = not a word !! 🤨
Beautiful watch, great review. Thanks
Insane quality. SM really need to do something about shrinking those enormous clasps though.
Absolutely spot on 😂. I think it's huge improvement. Hey. I'm proud that Chinese watch maker can step up
I was waiting for this one 😃
I hope it didn't dissappoint
Just in time for Christmas.
I wish they would have used the printed logo on this beauty.
No... it looks way better with the applied logo. Printed downgrades it.
I agree i don't like the logo at all.i would consider buying with script. That was my comment ✊
Best looking watch on AliX atm. 🤩
So good, and discount argh! just bought a watch so I have to rein it in.
lol....
FINALLY a 9000 series San Martin original! Can't wait for the 9075 GMT variant.
Great to see ZAR 😅 Cheers
This watch is one step forward for this brand. Not only do they finally use the Miyota 9 series movement. The back story of this watch with that reference to an ancient Chinese ceramic technique also makes sense. Brands like Anordain charge more than 10 times the price for watches with enamelled dials. But I would prefer a bracelet with better articulation and female end links instead.
There's also 10x the amount of work to get one of Anordain's dials compared to a rather run of the mill oil pressed dial. The two are really only comparable by the fact they're both watch dials.
Yes, it’s not Anordain level enamel, but it’s much more than a simple oil pressed dial. (I have the watch). The dial is beautiful and original and leans into Chinese artistic culture for inspiration (1000 year old porcelain finishing). And since the Chinese invented fine porcelain, it gives this dial finishing legitimate heritage with no need to invoke anything from the Swiss or other European design of the dial. This time, San Martin deserves some credit for design and also inspiration. Personally, I’d like a non-fume dial version, but this is still beautiful.
@@AG-99 you're right, it's oil pressed with a basic low-temp enamel coating.
I'm just not impressed by a facsimile, when other companies use actual porcelain in their production.
It's not like SM made a novel interpretation of the artform, it's a basic job to go "take the design from the glaze, and make it work on a dial." They did it successfully, but it's not rocket surgery. So trying to really pump them up for their design work on the dial falls flat to me.
There are plenty of other companies that make nice dials in the same genre. The only notable element is the price point to quality ratio. And in that regard it's certainly fine enough.
@@HorizontalvertigoYes, I agree that a real porcelain dial would beat this hands down, but when buying an Ali Express watch, quality and beauty for price is always a main point, as you note.
Not the first time they've used a 9000 miyota. They've used the 9015 in the prx homage and they used one of the variants in a nautilus homage.
Yes, I was reminded of this thank you. Lets hope they use it more now
But no mention of what difference that makes ie rotor whir / noise , better accuracy, hacking even ? Poor and obvious omission imo !
A guy named Gary used the 9015 in a Watch called the Exciton $200
Love your channel with so many stellar watches! For me the AMZWATCH’ watch is my favorite. Keep the videos coming. Thanks.
Finally a marked case back. Looks nice, but I wonder if it is too busy dial?
@@Seajay2016 the red dial is very toned down. Its more of a fume dial, and the texture is only there under the right angle and light, but it's very nice. I think the orange does the same.
I'm confused, online some visuals have matching date wheel colour and sometimes it's standard white date wheel. Can you get either of those ? 🤔
Shame your code doesn’t work, Was on Ali express like a hawk when i heard that on your video! I have the SN0129 and that is a beautiful watch. Will wait to see what this price will be in the November sales as I have ordered (still waiting for it) the new Veneziancio Arsenale in Purple for a knock out £437.16!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hi, how did you get the Veneziancio Arsenale for such a great price ?
@@Hemebean it dropped from €800 to €656 then I managed to find a 20% discount code online which worked 😁👍
Hi, do you know if the blue on the newer listing has a lighter outer edge on the dial - like they’ve done with the red and orange?
No, Blue dial remains the same.
@ thanks champ!
These do look interesting. I wonder if the dials might be a bit much for my taste, but that blue does look nice to me. I'm definitely down to try a San Martin. I'll want one with Miyota 9000-series (as in this watch) or a PT5000 as I'm kinda done with NH3x movements. I don't disparage those NH (or 4R) movements, but I only have a few mechanical watches & I'm glad to spend a bit more for a "mid-range" movement. In the sale I'll be looking at all of SM's watches that don't have NH movements. I've sold a few lately so I think I can buy 1, but only if something really talks to me. In a previous sale I got a 9-DAO "Engineer" w/ blue dial, and wow that's a beautiful watch. The keyless is a bit clunky -- that's the only criticism I can find with it -- but it's a great timekeeper. I like the watch enough to put in an SW200-1 when the PT5000 needs service. I'll still service the PT5000 as an exercise. I'd love to buy something else _that_ good in this sale, and maybe it's this watch. I've still got a preference for Swiss movements (or clones of them), but those 9000-series are _nice_ aren't they.
At the last sale I had one in my basket at £204 with coupons (red dial). Expect same on 11/11. Didn't checkout in the end as I have a microband about to arrive.
very happy with my red version, super accurate Miyota movement, only caveat, since I have a large wrist, the bracelet is too small for me. If anybody has spare link that they are willing to part with, please contact me!
Been wearing mine for 3 weeks now. My Tudor hasn't had a look in!
This doesn't surprise me...
An absolute stunner, but sadly, I'm just starting to realise how lazy i am with Automatic Watches.
What's the best San Martin Quartz?
❤👍
Just order this £151 in 11
11 sale, hope it's as good as it looks.
CADISEN can put the MIYOTA 9015 in a watch for under $100 US
I’m waiting for the inevitable mineral dial options. That case in Red Agate? Sold!
Hi Gary can I ask if the dial is slightly more subdued under normal light conditions, under lights it looks a little to bright with a turquoise blue colour but in other shots it’s more Aqua blue with less green in the hue . I know colour questions are relative but I’m not mad on Turquoise but Aqua blue like the Christopher Ward 12 titanium this watch resembles is fine.
Brilliant video
Would take the red SN0144 or the red desert SN0129 ??
So good to see the end of boring sterile case backs. Hopefully they stick with this going forward.
This looks like it’s a feasibility study like their GS diver from years ago, see what’s possible and then go from there.
Or do you think they’ll do more Miyota 9000 watches at those prices? (This isn’t their first 9000 series Miyota btw, SN013 or so, RO homage I believe, and they have this Nautilus annual calendar, maybe that PRX?)
All the reviewers are getting the blue version, I'd really like to see the orange one.
What a stunner
I was putting my hopes on red dial, but production photos after the renders were... different. Blue is beautiful though! Thank you for the review, Gary!
This is running $500 CDN before any discounts, so a little rich for me. I don't believe the Miyota movement adds anything in the way of cost. I recently bought a Benyar (part Pagani) watch for $50 CDN that features the same 9015 movement as this.
Do you have a link? I've never seen a benyar with a Miyota 9000
I'd love a clear case back to show off the movement I'm paying extra for !
Spectacular!
I wish they make a purple dial of this model.
I hope they continue to incorporate the 9000 series movement into their future designs.
Oh, crap! Just when I thought I was done collecting watches, THIS one pops up! Thanks for making my wallet a little thinner, Gary!
Not their first watch with 9015. I believe you have reviewed the all silver SN013. And there’s the PRX homage SN023 too.
I know because I have all three of them 😅 But this one is the best if course.
Although I can appreciate the finishing (specifically the bracelet brushing) I'm not a fan. It all just feels a bit nondescript, bordering on generic to me.
Not the right design or size for me personally, but knowing SM, they'll release a variant I like eventually.
Well its personal preference but as nice as it looks,it wouldn't bey first choice of San Martin.😊
Tried to use the code, through the affiliated link but it didn’t work..
So sorry, I’m trying to get this fixed now
Beautiful bracelet and polish. Very dull/boring watch case, hands and indieces. Hopefully, a more interesting model comes out in the future.
At the end of the day , counts the swiss and japanese brands . If someone wants nice watches for a life time ,should probably choose a micro range swiss brand as steinhart or a midrange seiko & orient star . You will save your money when you need it.
@@taotao23730 how? You'd be lucky to sell a used entry level Swiss or seiko/orient for more than half of its value, because the buyer could just pay a bit more and get new.
By buying for much less you don't have to get as much for the Chinese watch, and can be sold. Even piecing it out and listing as a mod base, a watch like this is high enough quality to get you something back and be less of a loss than the entry level swiss piece and midrange Japanese counterpart.
A very nice watch, not massively different to my recently aquired Islander Brookville otherwise there would be one on the way now.
Having seen Islander watches too I can tell you there is a chasm between these brands in terms of finishing
