I have often wondered why some people complicate their lives so completely needlessly. Young Marina may have been 23 when she got pregnant out of wedlock, but she was acting as if she was petulant teeny bopper. She wanted to be independent and do whatever she wanted to do, but on her parents' dime. She acted as if she didn't know who she was, who were her parents, and who her family. I guess she had to learn the hard way how to conduct her life in a rational manner.

The Princess Alexandra was never as straight laced as one would think. My famous partner and I were a discrete but homosexual couple in the very early '70s. We were welcomed and invited as part of the "Royal Party" to the theatre, in front of the whole world: without any hint of discrimination. If there had been, we certainly wouldn't have been invited to be seen with H.R.H. at an high profile event! Yes, it did hurt me as a 22 year old, having to be so discrete but the difference was , that in her punk excesses, Marina sought to throw herself at the media, as a way of waving two fingers at social protocols of the day. My painful discretion had to be, my protection of my partner, some 22 years my senior and instantly recognisable to everyone in the Kingdom. Now, we are all older and wiser but the spirit of youth never fades from us, it just gets hidden behind the wrinkles of wisdom!!!
Although he died in 2006 he is still considered an icon of the age so it wouldn't be right to say. Our relationship was never in the public domain; in those days and with the age gap it just couldn't have been . At the end of the day it is my history and my memories but thanks for asking. All families have one or two. After all Prince Andrew is a nightmare. The good ones are those we never hear about.
