CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Aron (James Franco) falls, discovering to his horror that he is stuck.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
James Franco stars in director Danny Boyle's inspiring survival drama based on the incredible true story of Aron Ralston, who became trapped alone in a Utah canyon for days after slipping on a loose rock, and resorted to extraordinary measures in order to make it out of his dire predicament alive. An experienced hiker and climber, Ralston (Franco) is very much in his element when he parks his truck by a mountain near Moab, UT, hops on his bike, and peddles to the middle of nowhere. Later, when Ralston encounters a pair of young female hikers who have gotten lost while searching for a local landmark, he jovially shows them a sight that most casual hikers miss before bidding them farewell and continuing on his way. Drifting through the canyons alone, deep in thought, however, the explorer who presumed he was ready for anything quickly discovers just how fast things can spin out of control when a rock gives way as he shimmies down a crevice, and pins his hand to the unforgiving wall of stone. Over the course of the next 127 hours, Ralston tries everything he can think of to free himself, flashing back to small but memorable events in his life -- as well as forward to the future that he might enjoy should he manage to wiggle free -- as his body begins the slow process of shutting down. Eventually realizing that the only way out is to leave part of himself behind, the exhausted, delirious adventurer draws his cheap made-in-China multi-tool, and does what it takes to survive.

Dwayne Johnson and James Franco did really good in this film
Daniel Hulse How does this only have 10 likes
@Weight Overload Haha I got it after seeing your comment 🤣
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaah
How did I not understand this the first time I read it?
entendi esa referencia lol
If I was stuck in this situation I would probably die of anxiety before anything.
Ikr
The Dodger me too 😐😫
I'd break the rock into prices instead of cut off my arm.
Brandon Hickory maybe he tried that and it didn't work :/
he tried that already
Lesson learned: Kids stay at home and play games.Don't do anything else.
Noted!
Your not telling me shit. If I die doing stuff I love, being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, exploring, so be it.
Primal X Yes sir
+Sarunas Siaudvytis How do you know it's a joke you idiot. OP probably doesn't do much of anything besides playing games.

The silence is, what makes this scene so "feelable", you can feel the shock, he got, like nothing is in his mind. And as he slowly get's that he's trapped in and what happened, the music comes back. Perfection
Exactly. And you can see the camera doesn’t move much, particularly in shots like at 1:28. He’s well and truly stuck.
He can act, I lived him in the series 11.22.63 and Spiderman but he plays in a lot of comedies with Seth Rogan, not exactly bad movies just comedies aren't exactly Oscar worthy
And his eyes
A.R.Rahman is a genius. He knows where to play and where to remain quiet!!
I agree...absolutly incredible movie/case with a perfect ending scene...and the music from sigur ros(festival) at the end makes it so emotional. When i watched the movie for the first time it was realy hard to see the amputation szene....but i think nearly everyone would do the same(or try)....at one point your brain produce so much adrenalin and tells you to do what you have to do when you want to survive this.
I feel so bad for the person that this really happened to
Yeah the actor for this is Aron ralston. The guy that actually got trapped was James Franco.
Sponge Gains You mean the other way around.
B.C. Rivers
Lol that was the joke
I’ve met him
Tiehack what's he like?
As soon as he gets trapped and he looks up to the sky it really hit me. Like, it’s like he’s in disbelief that this just happened. And when he looks up to the sky it’s like he’s saying “I was just up there, and now I’m here, stuck.” This whole scene is the epitome of your life changing in an instant. Incredible acting by James.

I'm 100% sure the moment I'd cut my arm off someone would come around the corner. Zero doubt no matter when it happened, I am a million miles from anyone a group of people would walk up to me 30sec after I did it.
Due to my track record, the same thing would happen to me.
dont matter lol ur hand was crushed it would've probably been amputated anyway
Finally the same person I can share my same luck experiences with
So what happened at the end of The Mist would happen to you guys too?
Edriss Scofield love that movie to pieces but mannnnn, the way it ends breaks my heart!!!!
The cameraman should help him 😭

Look up John Jones cave diver. Now that is stuff of nightmares compared to this.

I always say im stuck between a rock and a hard place but this guy takes it to a whole nother level
Thats hella scary to be stuck! I cant stand the feeling of being stuck like that !!!
I just liked this comment to be the 1,000th like.
There are very few movies that trigger my anxiety but this one takes the cake

When he cut his arm off...that fucked me up. Especially when he had to cut that vein. I'm glad he didn't let this situation kill his spirit. He still goes exploring
Not his vein but his nerve, and it’s super painful. Good thing he didn’t go into shock or passed out from that. If he did he would’ve died from blood loss. This is a great movie.
Rell -
that was the nerve
Rell if I was there I’ll be happy to cut it off cause I’ll be like my hero Future gohan
@@mu_sic_da_sound1281 oh I thought it was a tendon, but it would make much more sense for it to be a nerve.
this is the scariest film I’ve ever seen, far more terrifying than any actual horror film. this scenario is so unsettling and causes me so much anxiety I can’t even explain it. my heart feels so tight watching this and thinking about how a real person went through this makes me shiver
Bro exact same thoughts here😳😳
You might want to watch The last descent
you might find the movie "awake" just as the scary. The movie is about the gaining consciencness back while being in open heart surgery but paralysed so you can't tell the doctors so you just have to deal with the pain.
@Eyelush Billie yes it can happen in real life and has happened many times to ppl. Look it up it's def a thing
Reality is often far scarier than fiction my friend.
I dunno why the airplane flying over at 0:35 always stands out to me. I guess it shows that the world just continues to move on as if nothing happened?
Oz Undone No it shows that how helpless he is right now. He can see that plane just flying right above him that full of people that can help him. but he can't call them for help. Pretty fucked up situation if you think about it.
Cosmic Bunny both could be right, he feels helpless and it shows that the world is “ignoring” him, there not doing it intentionally, but simply because they can’t find him, like the movie said, he didn’t tell any where he was going because he’s a hard hero. But I think you, me and oz undone are correct
The people in that plane were probably the closest people to him
28 days later reference
@@jimmy2k4o exactly!
I read a piece of his book that stood out to me. It went something like: this boulder was stuck here for millions of years waiting for me to move it and I unknowingly lived my life for this moment; so here we both are now, destiny fulfilled.
Woww 😢😢
He kinda said something like that in the movie, like that rock has been waiting for him since it was an asteroid, to that very moment he got stuck to it

Bullshit. That boulder did an awful job. Like it was reading off of cue cards or something

Solaire Of Dabstora I still believe they handled it to him solely because he claimed to retire soon earlier
Mateusz Pruchnik What are you talking about? The boulder killed this role. The way it fell...I wonder if he had a stunt double.
Dwayne Johnson is the greatest villain ever!

0:34 the thing i love about this shot of the plane, is that those are the closest people to him at the moment.
Holy cow I didn’t even think about that bruh. WOW!
0:30 The genius here is that the title is displayed like an afterthought, but it is completely intentional. It's the director saying that the film started fifteen minutes ago, but the ordeal starts now.
The Editor added it, not the director, dumbass.
Franco was so great in this movie. I wish he was this committed to every role
Brett Wilson he IS committed to every role. It’s just every role doesn’t require this much dedication.
Wym committed? Just because he likes to do comedy movies aimed at adult humour, doesn’t mean the dude isn’t as committed as he is when it comes to serious roles.
He’s a great actor overall and by far one of my favourites
I was thinking the SAME THING.
Most A-list actors are this talented. Just that most movies nowadays dont require this level of dedication for them to flex their acting chops.
0:09 seeing the headphones hanging and the music distorted was a nice touch. I had headphones on when I had an accident. As soon as it happens, you still hear some music so it takes a moment to even realize what just happened. This scene was extremely realistic how it's portrayed.
This was so well directed. You really feel the shock of it all and then the panic growing into terror along with the music
2:05 when she says go harder

He should have tried turning the rock off and on again
This made me giggle so hard
Yeah he did that but the rock was strong whatch the movie
He did but the rock was too heavy. In fact there was literally no way for him to escape other than cutting off his arm. Maybe if he had a sharper tool to chip off the rock he could have escaped but it would have take him a long time. Also even if helicopters search for him they wouldn't have seen him. The only way he could have escaped would be if he brought a buddy and maybe he could have contact help and get the rock out.

Imagine the sudden realization that you are physically trapped and there’s nothing you can do about it. Terrifying.

They did this movie so well. They incorporated human relations and experiences, to make his character extremely realistic, so that all the emotional notes hit home. But they didn't make it the focus, there's no plot about his relationships before/after his journey. it's just about his traumatic experience, and what's going through his head.
i absolutely love how he has a moment of shock before realising what just happened
this is by far, my favorite James Franco movie. he did an absolute beautiful job with this role. this will always be one of my favorite movies of all time.
I think this may be one of the best title scenes ever. When he fall into the canyon their is no music, crazy effects, or a crazy title, its just silence to emphasize the shock and horror going through Aron's head.

I love the title of the book "between a rock and a hard place", not just because of the literal meaning, but it perfectly describes the apparent helplessness of Aron Ralston's situation, until he turned that around.
James: C’mon I got this
Rock: Stoopid, I’m not gonna let you get the chance.

The real guy was one hell of a trouper to cut off his own hand like he did - how many people would do that? That must have been the most terrifying thing ever.
Not only that but after the amputation he still had to walk 7 more miles I believe before he ran into anyone, dehydrated and everything. It’s a testament to the will of the human spirit
@Have a Nice Day honestly I've prob would done that too
Trust me, the will to survive is way stronger than you think. Most people say they wouldnt cut off their arm, but they wouldnt know since most people in America havent been in a life and death situation.
When youre in that situation, everything else becomes a small sacrifice if it means you get to walk out alive. But goddamn, he only had a 2 inch dull knife to use...wow.
My dad meet the real guy
Yes, James Franco was quite committed to his role to do that.
Franco did a great job in this movie
This acting was very good, almost seems as if it's actually happening to him.
It did its based off of a true story a guy actually got his hand stuck inside of that exact Boulder any other cut his arm off to survive
I have been watching movies for fourteen years and nothing has ever touched me in a way this has. Remarkable.
Now THAT'S what I call a real horror movie!
NEO GOT YOUR BACK BROOO🔥🔥🔥
One of the most powerful title card I’ve ever seen in a movie.
this is something that i dont even wish upon my worst enemies
Fun fact James Franco was so passionate about is role as Aron Ralston that he actually cut off his arm.
It was a fake arm look at the behind the scenes
Method acting.
@@baconboiwastaken9377 The fake arm won an oscar, though.
It’s sad because this was a real thing that happens
At least he made it out sans arm
@@patrickgogan3517 hehehe sans arm...
And this, this is why James Franco is my favorite actor
I have an amazing story. One day I was driving home and I felt the presence of the Lord, come down to me from above. It was as real as anything and I felt so comfortable with Him.
I knew if I asked Him to play a song on the radio, He would.
So I said "Ok Lord, play Come as you are..."
I didn't know what station it was on or anything, but I turned the radio on and the song started playing right on the spot, perfectly...
I started getting flooded with chills inside, trembling, and crying tears of joy. When I got home, He stayed with me for 10 minutes till I got out of the car.
I've been getting amazing prayers answered for around 5 years since, because that experience made me stop doubting when I pray, and I follow Biblical instructions, best I can.
1:43 this specific scream in my mind is when the panic completely set in, it goes from pained grunts to just straight up yelling
All it took was 3.5 second for his life to change. Real eye opener. Always access a decision before you make it a permanent one of your life.
Anyone else struggle to watch the FULL amputation scene??? I can handle blood and guts in just about every other movie, but this one gets me for some reason! It's the music combined with the sound of the bone breaking...and the nerves getting cut that puts it over the top! I can watch it 50 times and it STILL doesn't get any easier to watch! 😵
One of the best acting of james franco 🙂::
The fact that Aron Ralston let James Franco see some of his footager that ISN'T shown in this film is another fact that blows my mind. It just makes James' performance that much more REAL.

1. Don’t tell loved ones where you’re going.
2. Break away from a hiking group.
3. After breaking away, start exploring an obviously dangerous place.
4. Lessen concentration and awareness by listening to loud music.
5. I stay home and watch Golden Girls
6. Don't use your climbing rope.
7. Don't bring a Hatchet.
