It's like when Her Maj 'shuffled off this mortal coil'. I knew neither, but respected both for what they represented to me - indomitable spirit. Class acts.
Exactly one year earlier, Michael Gambon (the second actor who played Albus Dumbledore) had died. Hopefully Maggie Smith will be reunited with him and some of the other deceased cast members from the Harry Potter cinematic universe. May they all rest in peace.
I love McGonagall’s dancing lesson in Goblet of Fire. Also I think that in the Pensieve scene with Snape, Dumbledore and Moody, Snape actually talks the most sense
She would've made a great next Head master. She held the army of defense in the final battle strongholds among for her devotion for Potter, the School and her own beliefs in power
My favorite scene of her Megan Smith is actually in the second film, clapping and then I also I also like when she says this match has been canceled, and I also realize that the student would take by the monster and chamber itself. Students must be sent home. I’m afraid this is Hogwarts. I always like that.
Wow It hurts so much to hear that Ms.Maggie Smith passed away she was one of my favorite professors that played in Harry Potter and when she told Harry and Ron then I suggest using a map or maybe I should turn both of you into a pocket watch then maybe one of you will be on time and i trust that you don't need a map to find your seats had me on the floor laughing so hard cuz I remembered that one of my teachers said something similar to me 🤣😢 . It was criminal how underused Maggie Smith was as McGonagall. She was well utilised for the first two films (evidenced by how her scenes from those films make up nearly half the video). I understand now why Maggie complained that she (and incidentally) Alan Rickman had run out of reaction by the end because most of their scenes were comprised merely of reaction shots. Though her scenes in the final film are some of my favourites - the way she commands and protects the school, going all badass, always excites me. No one else could have played her. JK Rowling envisaged Maggie as McGonagall and she was spot on (hence why I am reluctant for the upcoming TV series adaptation). I always had great affection for her as she bore a resemblance to my late grandmother. She will be truly missed.
This is especially true of the 3rd and 5th movie. But while she doesn't have many scenes in the last movie, she definitely has a lot of presence! IMO it's the best McGonagall movie apart from the first two.

With Dame Maggie Smith up there, now the core that kept Harry safe is teaching magic in heaven (Severus Snape, Rubeus Hagrid, Albus Dumbledore and Minerva McGonagall).
She may have had a fairly short amount of screen time overall, but her presence would always be felt, she was the spine of Hogwarts, powering the nerve endings, integral to its function. Maggie reflected this gravitas in the character. Unspoken, assumed power.
I did not realize that McGonigal only had a few scenes in the prisoner of Azkaban movie that did not stop Meggie Smith from giving a fantastic movie performance as always.

Maggie Smith was actually fighting cancer during filming for The Half Blood Prince and had recovered by the time of filming The Deathly Hallows. Both parts were filmed at the same time and she was only intended to be in the second part, as evidenced by the lack of Hogwarts scenes in the first film.
34:55 harry wasent actibg rationaly. Mcgonaglle offered sj quietly to help if needed, maybe tell her even why he is leaving higwarys. He was heaetbroken of dumbledores deafj, but minerva was hit hardest, her mentor,friend. She was at her lowest for decades, and still offered to help, but harry brushed her off.
I'm assuming because Potter never got to the school until part 2 they didn't film anything, unless Maggie Smith was filming for some other movie or TV show I guess
