Cardiac Surgeon Breaks Down Surgeries From Movies & TV, Part 2 | GQ - Розваги
Jessica Alba in the operating room with nothing covering her hair or face is freakin hilarious
Not for the guy in the table 😂😂
Tbf she came in the movie late to kill him in that scene that was the plan. I’m sure se wasn’t worrying about contamination lol
She wasn’t supposed to be there. She went in there because they were taking to long to kill they husband. lol
Well.. she's hot.. duh
@@daijme lol, so what?
When a surgeon says, "This is absolutely brutal to watch" you know it is brutal, and you had every right to cringe and for your stomach to do flip flops when you watched it.
Yeah, I don’t know how did that guy who amputated his arm didn’t pass out
They made us watch that movie in highschool lol
@@forgetfulstranger same
Yeah, I love Danny Boyle's style of making movies, but I refuse to watch that one.
The video has only just started, but I already know you definitely mean 127 Hours. Everyone I've spoke to has said the same, that it's an ordeal to watch.
He's like the cool rich uncle we wish we all have
I have one but he's not cool he just has a farm
I wanna get a plastic surgeon/dermatologist 🔥
@Maxwell i idk man owning my own farm sounds pretty cool, nothing like being self sufficient as the world implodes around us 😌
@@maxwelli5846 I’ve never been on a farm I would like to for a bit but I’m sure it would get old eventually
Wow, that's shallow.
I've had the pleasure of meeting Dr Lee in person and have witnessed first hand his professionalism and demeanor to someone he operated on. We need more people like him on this than celebrities in my opinion.
what hospital is he based at?
is he this hot in person too??

What a dapper gentleman.

I wish I was that Professional, serious and RICH.
Really good looking suit there.
He’s not especially dapper of a gentleman but he is an especially gentleman dapper
Great, now that I'm finally a doctor, my Asian parents would ask me why I'm not featured in GQ too
It is never enough right? Haha
Bwahahahah
"Call me when you GQ star".
Typical Asian parents 😁 just like when you got 98% in your test, they will ask "Where the other 2%?"
At first I thought you were lying but I see your English grammar isn't too great. So you're obviously Asian like you said
Notice that he very rarely uses the word "never" to be absolute certain about something, instead he uses "rarely, usually, most likely" etc. He is a true scientist.
Have to leave room for anomalies
bigg
GQ doesn't realize this, but these videos are making everyone's day better
No really, they're the best. I have watched so many since we went into quarantine lol.
Factual! Information I never knew I needed/wanted.
Not you again😂
Bruh does anyone know this is a bot 😂

So much respect to this doctor. We all know how hard it is to be a cardiologist and especially a surgeon but he keeps his cool and that is rare.
were you expecting him to freak out or something?
Doctors being calm is the opposite of rare
Do you think everyone is like Gregory House ? lol
I think all professional medical practitioners are very calm, since them panicking will cost a life.
@Sambhav Mathur same to you sambhav if you are appearing
I had the pleasure of rotating with him on my CT surgery rotation as a medical student. Dr. Lee is the best!
*He just looks like a Surgeon. Very professional.*
Love this dude. Super cool yet extremely well educated and informative. You can really tell how much experience he has.
Ironic- Hayden is in this video😳😳😳😏
@@AsgardsValkyrie For those who are curious, we see our prequel hero-turned-villain at 1:50 and 1:56.

Dude, this comment sent me! 🤣 So underrated!!

Hi, Ben. What’s your profile picture?
@@w3nd333 it’s a mushroom!
Gentlemen like Dr. Leonard Lee are the reason I listen to medical experts for advice instead of laypersons who spew nonsensical cures and misinformation on social media.
Man, 127 Hours is a nightmare. Things happening to the limbs and digits is the stuff that makes me shiver the most. Had I been in Aron's position, I think I would have just died. I do not think I could have been able to amputate my own arm, even to save my life.
Finally a surgeon (even better, a cardiac surgeon) who's not self-absorbed and idiotic. He actually takes the time to explain the scenes and treats us a capable audience. Simply amazing.
You can tell this man loves what he does.
What does he dose?
@@vivelajonny he's a Cardiac (heart) surgeon
Yes
They did such a great job with 127 Hours! I listened to his book on Audible, then went back and watched the movie, it's practically word for word, and the part of him cutting his arm off was exactly the way he described it in the book. I could feel my own arm reacting to it. Was super creepy!
I actually had a freak accident where I broke my arm and the bone snapped so my bone was pressing against the nerve and I would describe the touching of the nerve the exact same as he did in the book (not sure about cutting the nerve as I never experienced that.)
Btw it wasn't lightly pressing against it either my arm actually made the nerve move a little/bend.
do u have the link where i can read the book?

An old high school acquaintance of mine had the unfortunate situation being part of the slim statistic of her body rejecting her first heart transplant. She's in her second transplant now, so far so good.
I could listen to this guy for hours
finally, a challenger for Dr. Annie Onishi
He’s hot and smart please bring him back again
times two
I agree lol

Yes!
My mother had her gall bladder removed in 1979. For a couple of weeks afterwards she would cry in her sleep and we would have to gently awaken her. She was dreaming that people were standing around her laughing while she slept and that she couldn't wake up. I believe she must have had some degree of awareness during her surgery that she afterwards forgot.
This doctor explains everything really clear and without technicalities AND one actually gets to understand it all. Big respect for this man!
Bring him back every week I love this doc! Being in the medical field and working in the OR myself, it is so fun to break down these movies
Very much in awe of Dr.Lee, i love the way he explains things. More of these breakdowns GQ!!!
This series with this man just hits different, love it!!
The Movie Awake scared me because the guy was freaking out and was aware when he was supposed to be under anesthesia. When I had to have emergency surgery that’s all I could think about.
I'm already waiting for part 3!!
Thank you Dr. Lee for this fascinating and elucidating video, look forward to watching more.
I love the way he describes very complicated procedures and terminology, in a way that anyone can understand. He talks in a clear, calm, and precise manner. He exudes professionalism.
at last! been waiting for Dr. Lee's commentaries👍🏻👏🏻❤️
i love this man, his voice is just so calming
Doctor Lee!! My favorite doctor, worked with him for many years
i feel like this doctors theme song is classic man by jidena and it just plays when he walks in a room
Absolutely!!
Thank you so much Dr Lee..
GQ needs to do an episode on this mans wardrobe 🔥🔥
Can't get enough of this Doc.. Seems like a busy man.. Wish he could react for longer..
Dude this guy is AWESOME
His voice is so calming
My father straight up woke up in the middle of surgery not that long ago to people literally panicking and running around and shouting at each other he then fell back asleep, he's ok also.
Very informative, Thanks Leonard!
More, we need more of Dr. Lee!
Love his voice and much information about this video👍🏽
2:52 He's completely right about that, do this day I cannot get myself to watching this scene, I cannot look at it
YESSS I WAS WAITING FOR HIM TO COME BACK
Yes!! More videos with him!
My first surgery was done with a Da Vinci, a 6 hour Nissen Fundoplication. Just 5 small scars, then I have had 3 more since then with more surgeries coming in the future.
If I’m ever about to lose a lung I want this guy working on me.
No, you'd want a lungologist
@@User-54631 I mean, aren't cardiac surgeons.. actually cardio thoracic vascular surgeons. We have a degree called M.Ch. (CTVS).. for heart surgery here.
@@User-54631 You'd want a pulmonologist for extended Care. For surgery you want a cardiothoracic surgeon. I know because I have one who is absolutely phenomenal.
You can’t have Jessica Alba wear a mask!! That’s like casting her as a character that can turn invisible!!! Just crazy!!!
Maybe she didn't want a mask because she "couldn't breathe" in it.

Part 3 Please
my mother had surgery on her back that she was awake for - she screamed that she could feel it but they said she was lying and continued the surgery. it was one of the most traumatic things my mother has been through. and after the surgery they realised that she did in fact feel it and their resposne was "sorry"
That’s insane!
Why would someone even lie about that?
GC is highly, highly underrated. Literally immeasurable amounts of creativity and entertainment
Wired does this same type of video yk
I wants part 3 and 4 also thanks
He’s just so frickin cool
He’s back! Yessss
This guy is awesome and I want to hear more of what he has to say.
More, more; we want more 😀! This presenter is excellent: conveying targeted information and reasoned judgments, with a calm and collegial manner. Good for him! I wish him and his family all success and peaceful and serene lives. ❤️
More of this gentleman!
Do a part 3!!! I like this Dr!!!
I do like how he speaks. He is confident and educated. The way he pronounce the words is another pleasure)
Really enjoyed the Drs commentary...good choice
This dude is so smooth.
I could listen to him explain this stuff for hours
Great video
Please do the Fall, S03E01. I think that is one of the most accurate medical television I have seen in my life!
I can listen to him talk all day. 😍
Fun fact DaVinci also makes reading equipment for seniors and people with bad vision. Good luck with customer support though you might as well call me.
When I was a kid and I had to get a few teeth pulled, even though I was asleep during it. I could literally feel the pain in a dream, it was like I was awake, could see the people doing the procedure and feel everything, it was awful
Great video overall, but I would just like to point out the fact that the consensus has changed over the past few years, and that the appendix is no longer generally classed as a vestigial organ (in my experience). It serves as a reservoir for gut flora.
My sister had her appendix removed after it was infected and actually tore. Her digestion has changed, she said. More gas is produced. But otherwise she's okay, luckily.
Exactly! I was kinda baffled that he said that; the new science on the appendix has been common knowledge for, like, ten years now.
Awesome video
Love the video
He seems so calm and cool
After 9 minutes and 24 seconds, I trust this man with my life.
That’s the same outfit he wore in pt 1 isn’t it? GQ liked him so much they just filmed both parts back to back and posted them at different times.
Hey Dr. Lee !!!
There is beauty in knowledge and he is beautiful.
He should inform himself more about even bigger hyonosis surgery. They are done in switzerland since years. Some hospitals train all theyr workers in this tecnique and their patients in selfhypnosis.
THAT POCKET SQUARE THO
When I was a kid I had surgery and woke up when they cut me. I ripped out the IV and thrashed around. Was the first indication that I don't react to pain medication the way most people do
I have had the experience of waking up during a surgical procedure. It was horrible. They got me back under pretty quickly.
Wait, really? I’m curious!
A favourite!
He is Competence personified
That’s terrifying imagine being put asleep but you can hear the conversation in the room while your heart is not in your body 😳
Now get Dr. Morgan here to LOOK OVER the Optical Shop footage - I know you guys LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT
God bless you all hope everyone is having a great day!
shout out to all the people with anxiety who are soldiering through this video right now lmao
Thank you for listening
Surgery is still extremly painful, painkillers and opiates just reduces the pain a bit, I had abdominal surgery and I had 10/10 pain for 3 days after the surgery
Well yes, your brain is "active" again, so those impulses that weren't being sent while you were under anesthesia are now being felt
I had foot surgery and i was so uncomfortable the night after even with strong painkillers
2:21 I woke up during my ACL operation and asked the person standing next to me why do I feel there is a washing machine on my left thigh? (I remember using those words). He was a bit surprised and said it's torniquet. Then I saw a screen to my left where they were drilling a bone, I felt a weird vibration, my teeth made a sound like I would have had cold. At that point I realised that's me, my bone what they are drilling. Also the "washing machine" on my thigh started to hurt too much so I asked for some soothening, the dude next to me placed a mask on my nose and mouth... and more I don't remember...
I love this
This is the cool rich uncle neurosurgeon I needed to talk with before my l4l5 thanks
When I went under anesthesia was the best part cuz it felt like I just took a nap… woke up 12 hours later after a 9 hour surgery
His cleverness is attractive!
You must be very smart then.. Sorry I'm simping haha
My son was born with hydronephrosis and he's had a couple of surgeries with the DaVinci machine.
6:38 I’ve seen Dr. Pimple Popper do that many times.
Thanks
For anybody who hasn't watched Awake, Jessica Alba’s character not wearing a mask and covering her hair was integral to the storyline.
