The lack of handholding has always been one of my favorite things about Warframe. Slowly learning and mastering the game's complex systems was an experience I will cherish for a very long time, even if making players rely so much on the wiki is an objectively bad game design.

For me i mostly learned from talking to friends when playing the game, this made it so that while we didnt instantly knew everything, after getting to know quite a few people we basicaly never had to use the wiki. Even tho that changed when i returned to the game since pretty much all of them stopped playing it for quite a while so now despite it not realy being a problem (i have 1,3k h in it which is a good basis), it still is somewhat annoying.

Agree - when you start the game you have just awoken from a long sleep with most of your memories missing. You are not supposed to know what to do, it's part of the game that you have to discover how things work and I love it! I would really love an update that is one huge puzzle but that would be a massive risk for DE if players bounce off it because either it's too hard or it's "not Warframe" enough. Would be cool though...

I just hit MR30 and am taking a break. A few things I wish I learned sooner:
-Trading is OP. Don't waste hours grinding for a rare mod/drop you can get for 10p
-Filter trade chat by removing keywords "wts" and "riven"
-Sporelacer is insane for how early you can get it.
-Deploying archguns in missions is underrated
-Necramech makes open world areas infinitely easier
-Steel path daily incursions are easy and you do not need the nodes unlocked

My account is gonna be 10 years old in October and the main reason I've kept coming back is there's just always something for me to do
    Good stuff:
    - Actually communicative devs who don't always take their community for granted, DE have had their highs and lows and aren't perfect by any means, but they're a much better example than the standard we get from companies today and have been for most of Warframes life span
    - An ungodly amount of community driven resources and guides, there's no shortage of information out there on optimal farms and locations to grind as well as efficient builds and settups for just about anything
    - Lots of customization both visually and gameplay wise, fashion frame is real strong and the game being 3rd person an all makes "looking good" feel rewarding in a way
    "Bad" Stuff:
    - Power Creep has made some Warframes/Weapons/builds really weak and endgame demands such specific setups for most things to function
    - Game has almost tooooo much RNG, it'd be nice to for somethings to be less RNG dependant or give players more control like what items you get from relics or what rewards from Bounties as an example
    - Parts of the game that have been completely forgotten like the original Archwing missions and old boss fights like Lephantis that show their age - Archwing in particular still feels quite clunky too and gets more use out of Open world than its OG missons, yet the OG missions are the only place to farm mods
A lot of this is clearly subjective, but there's a lot that I still wish would be changed/adjusted ect in the game, mostly older content such as Warframes that have been out for a long time (looking at you Frost and Hydroid in particular) that could really use a whole kit overhaul to make them standout and be useful again like what Ember and Excalibur recieved. Otherwise I pretty much agree with what Tac said, game has a lot to offer and can be scary for new players to get into, but the community continues to try to make it easier and easier so people can understand the goals and endgame they want to work towards

To be honest, with the introduction of Duviri, the circuit and how easy it is to get frames, along with nightwave offering ways to get free weapon and warframe slots, I don't think there's been a better time to play in a very long time. The game looks amazing, the quests are engaging, there's so many different game types and unique feeling weapons, it's an easy game to love right away. Sure, there might be a bit of a lull once you've achieved "veteran" status but... what game doesn't have that? A while back I was very critical of how the game treats newer players, and although there's plenty of ways they could probably still improve, I'd easily recommend this game to a looter shooter fan, especially one into buildcrafting and such. It's funny, I've had the opportunity to now play The division's Descent game mode and Destiny's deep dive and they are both less fun or much more shallow versions of what Duviri brought to the table. I mean, The division's game mode is actually fun, Destiny's is a joke, but Duviri beats them both in my opinion. I wasn't sure at first once Rebb took over but at this point, Her and whatever team she has working on the future in my opinion really have things moving in a viable direction, and I think it's even more impressive given the age of this game.

Agreed, been playing this game for about eight years and just started a new account on PS5 to play the Duviri content. I'd add their ToS as a bad point, they can ban you for even trading with somebody they suspect of having sold plat for real money ('black market plat'), and offer no proof other than 'you traded with them'. This happened to half my in game friend group because we used to share rivens around to test them out, either through straight up 2035 bans or them getting a negative plat balance on their account from reversed trades. Zendesk Support were incredibly unhelpful in trying to get this resolved.
It is fun, it is visually stunning on something that isn't a toaster, it can be very much a time sink, but they can be very heavy handed and sloppy in how they use their ToS towards those they think might have broken them.

  • @ates423

I have a unique perspective as both a long time veteran but also a complete newcomer.
Ever since warframe released day 1 I have binged this game for hours on end, develop a lull, burnout, or frustration with the game. Then left.
Only to come back and return to this game several months to a few years later. Everytime I do, the game feels completely new, different, and improved. Which is one way to know that a game is managing to keep itself fresh and up to date.
I just now returned to this game since inaros first dropped and the amount of new content is just absolutely astonishing. A few weeks in and I’m having a blast, just like how I have before.
However there are many gripes I have Everytime I come to this game. It’s inevitable for a long time veteran to burnout, as one does with any game, but there are a couple contributing reasons as to why that happens and how fast that happens.
Warframe has an excellent new game - mid game grind. All the planets, quests, and new systems gives you a near infinite amount of things to do and explore. As long as there aren’t other players hamstringing you along, you can have quite the experience with all the unique instances to play on in this game. Most importantly, the grind is fun and you can choose what you want to grind for and how. By either farming stuff to get plat to trade for it, or grinding it directly, or just ignoring it completely. This is the spark of the game, that makes it so beautiful for many that want to come in.
However for the endgame players who’ve done it all and reliably played from content drop to content drop. The endgame is questionable, all that’s left at the end is tedious, monotonous, near unrewarding grind. That’s where the fun stops. Once you hit that threshold at the end of all the fun grind, and the journey to getting there, there’s almost nothing left to keep you there, and it’s a surefire way for many players to burn out. Hence why I kept returning to this game just to leave again, which is what most players should do if they want to have a good impression on this game.
All in all, warframe has turned itself from a downright horrendous mobile game to a fully fledged open world mmo, netting itself as one of the best f2p games on the pc platform. There are problems as with any games, most of warframes problems stemming from its f2p system and business model in contents. However, this game manages to keep itself fresh, and is always improving. This game is a solid 7/10.

As someone that play this game for 9-10 years. I still think they need to take a big part of their dev team and change/streamline the general experience. Like that:
    - Reduce the amount of nodes in the starchart. It's too much now. Could remove archwing missions.
    - Rework/remaster the rest of the tilesets that need some new lighting/materials/art direction.
    - Rework the oldest frames that need to be as good as the new ones.
    - Crosssave for obvious reasons.
    - "Link" the different content Islands with the rest of the game a lot more so everything feel homegenous.
Still the most unique art direction in the game industry, i would love to see a solo spinoff in its universe.

If you are looking for a quick game to scratch that shooter itch, this is NOT that game without work. I find it rewarding that, even with some guns nerfed, modding can bring your favorite weapons up to an at least “useable” point when doing low level grinds. When I come back and do a story, my frames just need a quick mod touch up and I’m good to go, all of my precious hard work is not for NOTHING. Is there more work to do? Absolutely! But what I have already built is still there with me along the journey.

As someone who recently picked it back up after about 4 years, I'll say that with baseline knowledge of the game, I was able to go from MR 0 to MR 10 within 11-12 days. It's very easy to get from the early game to the mid-game, and extremely fun to do so.
That being said, the mid-game is where things started to crack for me. I hadn't joined a clan at this point, and it felt requisite for me to progress further. The disconnectedness and age of the game also started to show, where I found that accessing new content took a lot longer with 3 open worlds, railjack, and Duviri to juggle. But in general, the gameplay loop and progression is still really fun, it's just slower than I remember. I'm still having a great time grinding for mods and doing all of the new quests/endgame content, and the power fantasy has not changed one bit. There is just so much to do, it makes my brain hurt.
All in all though, I would say it's a great time and one of the best free MMO's on the market right now.

I feel for a long time the modding system is the biggest turn-off moment for many new players getting into the game. DE (whenever they decide to tackle new player experience again) should look into reworking how modding is introduced and give a lenghty enough time for players to adapt and understand how modding works. Secondly, similar to what no man's sky does, is add a tracker that specifically shows where exactly a players needs to go to find a resource, mod, warframe part and ect. It would otherwise allow new players to rely less on wiki to track down parts players may be looking for. Lastly, as mention, hand holding should exist up to the point of fighting the jackal. With the remaster of the corpus ship and introduction to the parazon, new players are somewhat unprepared as such new mechanic was not introduced till that boss fight. Vor's boss should be the introduction to the parazon to get players familiar with parazon kills so they wont feel completely lost with the jackal. Warframe is a game I proudly played for 7 years and new players should have an easier time learning the bases of the game instead of fearing it.

This is indeed an accurate analysis. The major problem of warframe to me was and still is the grind. To elaborate further, your excavation or survival or defense run is 80% the same from run to run, you wipe out the enemies or have someone else did it. Once you reach your goal you're out then repeat. If i used destiny for example, yes the pattern is also, run and gun to the objective , which is more or less exactly the same but i get some npc dialogue/mini story to make it less boring and feel run to run a very slight difference. Also where your region is also affecting this. I'm in the Asia region and i would say 70% of people here are businesses like unless you know them personally. They will do their job, no talk, no joke nada. Get in, get it done, then get out. That's how i've been playing for years and i'll take zavala mission briefing over no random shenanigans any time. So my additional advice is get someone to tag along. Either you drag someone you know or join a lively clan, that would either eliminate the grindyness issue or at least mitigate it.

I have jumped in and out for years now and my builds are still so strong that nothing is ever really challenging and doesn’t offer something new that I am like ‘I want that!’. A new ‘OP’ gun or mod comes out and I just feel like, I already wreck everything, I don’t need it.

I personally really enjoy testing out different game mechanics or reading wikis and learning more about them that way, sometimes even adding to wikis what wasn't publicly known at that point. In that way I think the fact that Warframe doesn't take your hand can also be a huge benefit for some. Especially thinking back to the old games where no game mechanics were explained at all and huge wikis didn't exist yet. You mostly had to test stuff out yourself read about it in forums. Today it became kind of a standard for every game to take your hand so hard a good number of people just feel restricted by it. All just to get the newer often younger players into the game.

As you said in the video the monetisation model is one of if not the best of any game I've played same with the community if you ever need help you can say it and within less than a minute you'll have 5-10 people all trying to help out.
For the bad the thing I've seen people struggle with the absolute most has been the movement. It is glorious once you know how it works and that's the main thing. "Once you know how" as you said the lack of hand holding some people love it some people hate it but there needs to be some more in depth stuff for people that either want it or need it. Sometimes you play something new you sit down start it up and you just stare at the screen clicking things randomly because you don't know what to do because you're simply not being given enough information. It's not because you're slow or because you're impatient it's simply because you don't know where or how it works because you where never told. I know some people don't like the hand holding but between
"Click this" and "You'll find the button in the top right with 6 other buttons but we won't tell you which one" dramatic example but you get the idea.

From my perspective (4 months old tenno as of now, active nearly daily player):
The good: my beginning frames, mag, wisp, mesa, titania, garuda and gyre (got much later) are very self sufficient, no matter which weapon i choose on them, if i have the catalyst, they can function by themselves themselves. By design, as the class system. The movement is fantastic, the combat is diverse and makes many playstyles with weapons viable and have great feedback. I like melee (especially with wisp) and charge weapons.
I also love divivi, its rouge like aspect is phenomenal in both the experience and circuit.
The story is also phenomenal, with an exception listed below.
The bad: new war locking you into doing the quest, which is a massive hurdle to overcome for access to the rest of the game, idk why they cant force you just to play as the drifter until completion. However there is one quest for worse: the railjack mission, cy NEEDED a secondary character to bounce off, the story is somehow boring, and its mission type, wholely unique in the mission is one of the worse (tbf, maybe i shouldn't of been mag with pull, but its a bad mission beyond my skill issue).
The grind: just reach rank 5 fortuna, lmao. So many things are locked behind this aspect, hildren (which is a pretty meta subsume for steel path) is locked behind exploiter orb. Little duck making your amps worth a damn, etc. And orb valis, while pretty AF, has imo the worse bounties in the game for a miriad of reasons. Also add in the lack of catalysts you have access to and forma, means you will not be able to experiment with builds as much as you wish too.
I could add more to all the parts here, but i think ive put the most pressing points up above.

Warframe is the best f2p game I’ve ever played, I have been playing it on and off for years now. There’s so much you can do in the game. It is very intimidating when you are new but it’s not overly difficult to where you will fail over and over again. The community is a very good one though and using UA-cam videos and asking the community can help you out a lot.

I'm someone who honestly doesn't think Warframe has any "flaws" which I know, is a big red flag, but give me a moment.
Usually one of those "red flag people" like that, will bash and double down on any criticism their game has, going out of their way to say "that's not true" or "that's just how it is".
Instead, this video emphasizes some of the BIGGEST criticism Warframe has and the honest response from me is; "Yeah, it's honestly part of the fun."
Warframe is a game about perspective, heck even in story a LOT of the big twists throughout the story have been changes in perspective. The Sentients, The Orokin, The Void.
I think it's all about perspective. Yeah Warframe is grindy, but that means you have a lot of time you CAN invest in the game, not you must. And, brief aside, the one critisism that doesn't have an upside is how daunting the new player experience is. But once you pass that wall, you find that the rest of the game is a slippery slope, before long you're Mastery Rank Legendary 1 and waiting for the next content to drop to give you an excuse to play again! It's not addictive, it's... serene, you'll find hours, days go by in a flash, all after spending however much time you decide to play. You'll find yourself saying "Wait, that's finished crafting? It had a three day timer though." or "Wait, what do you MEAN Nightwave's got an end date?! Oh jeez, I need to farm out the last couple levels"
And yes, Power Creep is a thing, but that means we FEEL powerful, and then we find something stronger, and because DE's accepted the power creep, instead of trying to fight it, they make up for it, many of the oldest weapons in the game just got a HUGE power spike via "incarnon" and it won't be long until your favorite weapon gets an upgrade. Incarnon, Prime, Prisma, Wraith, Kuva, Tenet, the list goes on and on, reason after reason to upgrade old gear.
And the story is deep reaching, "why are we doing this" "what are we doing" having to check the wiki for context, but in a strange way, it leads to a sense of community.
It's not JUST our story it's THE TENNO's Story.
A new player comes in and goes "Wow, can you believe that Stalker tried to kill Alad and failed?!" and an older player retorts; "Yeah, Stalker's little 'acolytes' were a pain, kept getting the drop on Alad and downing him, I had to go Trinity just to keep him ALIVE!"
I feel that the story may put YOU in the seat of the "main character" but the world, this disjointed way of story telling, has become a way that the world feels so much bigger than you, "The tenno" did this, not just you.
WE fought Alad and his Mutalyst strain, WE fought alongside Ordis in the datascape, WE kept the Ambulas system from becoming a mass-produced menace, WE fought together against the Fomorian threat.
To be honest, I feel if they ever get people to moderate and double check the wiki regularly and just PUT IT in the Codex, it'd just feel like a Museum... huh, museum.
Wonder if Leveran would be willing to fund exibits into the major events of the recent past, I'd be down to fund it with a couple dozen million credits XD

When did i stop playing warframe and uninstall it? It was during the Zariman patch where the crippled the operator movement and Zenurik and several other ways. The Operators fluidity in tandem with the lightning abilities of Zenurik were fully woven into my playstile and there was the zone where i could get into, aka having fun. Then they broke several of those ways of the operator (including zenurik) as well as operator movement in such a way, that i never felt in the zone after that. and after the devs showed no remorse or no consideration for peoples grievances i left and uninstalled giving the diskspace to other games.

I want to add that, for a lot of the people that consider speeding up proccess as "pay to win", then Warframe is definitely pay to win. Very much so.
All those mods you need to make a functional build? Might take you months to get them all (or even more if you rely on Baro to bring them).
Spend some money on plat and you get them instantly (well maybe in a couple days since you get that trade limit tied to mr rank)
Those frames that are awful to farm like sevagoth, nidus, regular equinox that you will first need a functional build to farm them (wich requires the previous step) and will probably take you a lot of time to get?
Spend money on plat and you get them instantly!
Want to level up your gear faster? Want to get more drops? Want to get more creds? You guessed it! Get some money and you are covered!
Want to craft things in an actual decent timeframe? Welp, gotta need that money!
And yes, I know you can gring items to get plat (everything I have on my mr30 account was farmed or bought with plat from trade) but you get my point.
Also you can buy godroll rivens with plat, and those can make a HUGE different for a lot of weapons (especially the new incarnons)
Now don't get me wrong, Warframe is an awesome game with its flaws, but to me, not mentioning all of this is kinda a mistake.
And no, I'm usually not one of those that call speed up mechanics "pay to win", but I had this conversation so freaking many times online while trying to defend Warframe's model that I understood its a real issue

People seem to fixate on either the fact Warframe has a premium currency, or that that currency is tradable for ingame resources. People that believe in the "premium" aspect of the game are usually scared off by time gates, platinum shortcuts and other things like you said. However, there is the other side of the coin that Platinum is earnable for free by trading for ingame items like Prime Parts. Using the trading system, you can utilize all those P2W features of the game without ever paying a dime. You will see free to play accounts with literal thousands of plat because they know their way around the ingame market. Its hard to choose a side, and its up to you if you think Warframes system of premium currency is fair or not. Objectively, Warframe does have one of the better free models out there, but its not perfect.

Very important for new players: You have all the time in the world. No need to rush through the starchart. Take your time, repeat missions to gather resources, mods and blueprints, slowly build your frame up before you move on. Learn all the mechanics for the next step. There are many things you do not have to do at all. Like steelpath. You can but you don't have to.

Most of the content outside of late game content like railjack/Eidi hunts/archon hunt/steel path/Duviri is either hollow or not worth it , nearly almost all of the good mods/drops/items for 95% of builds drop from these activities and the only exception to that rule is Warframe's Excellent quests and main story(which combined with mastery tests will teach you nearly every game mechanic , make sure you practice your mastery test a few times before you attempt to complete it)
Edit: I forgot to mention Elite sanc onslaught and Nightmare mode also being a source of important/required mods like hammer shot
His advice about gathering a large pile of resources and mods/blueprints is spot on to a huge degree

@@codylucynki1279 Ignore this person's comment almost completely new players
Take your time, try different frames and weapons, ignore meta do nothing builds, play the way you have the most fun. You can only experience new things once so pace yourself.
You can get the plat for anything you need by farming low level void missions for relics, opening them and selling on warframe market. Slots are only 20p so you prob only need a few relic runs per new slot. Low level capture runs can be done in a few mins and you can hoard the relics and open them all in low level survival missions if you find a group doing the same thing, or do low level capture runs if you want to open them one at a time. You will also get mods and resources you can use this way.
The comment about things "not being worth it" is entirely subjective, try these game modes for yourself and see which you enjoy. Theres no PVP epeen waggling to be had, unavailable skins/frames/weapons are almost non-existent if you have patience and plan ahead, its all up to you and how you enjoy to play.
And if you dont enjoy it dont do it :)

Honestly as a person who has played this game for i think 6 years at this point ive seen my fair share of how this game has changed from back in the day where movement was basically not a thing and you had 3 daily revives per day after that you had to spend money to revive in your mission or you lost everything you just farmed for to what it is now has been a fun journey. I will always recommend it to people but i sadly have not been apart of it all to much since the 2nd war started to grow i come back for basically every single update that does come out but recently a lot of the frames and primes havent showed me something for me to personally go out and get which is not a problem for the game ive just found my frames i enjoy and love and have dumped countless resources into but its always a game i will hold dear in my heart and recommend to people so long as they can push through the drawbacks of it being a little rough in the beginning but if you can get past that it becomes a very great game to pick up and play or play non stop or whatever you may do with it at the end of the day you play how you want to

For me the amount of bugs and the length of time they take to get fixed burned me out so much of contents I liked to do way back the introduction of Deimos.. (3rd openworld map)
They will introduce a new content which for the most part is blatantly buggy to the point that if it's not DE, gamers will crucify them.. Patches will take weeks even months to be delivered and for the most part there will be still game-breaking bugs even after the wait...
What's worse is that the bug is not exclusive to the new content added but also to the old content already existing in the game (Which is already free of Bugs)... Like some mission objective will not spawn rendering your hours of progress/grind in that mission worthless because you'll need to quit, mechanics not working as intended, random clipping that can sometimes lead to death...
Like I said this kind of stuff will be received with a HEAVY-backlash and scrutiny if it's not DE but I think that's a privilege they earned from gaining the respect of their fans for being a really fair F2P game..

Veterans or Newcomers alike, Nitain Extract are dumb probably the single most agreed upon comment I've seen for warframe. Crazy though, I remember when Warframe had no orbiter and such a bare bones map with no indication of what to do. We tenno have come so far. One thing I am so glad DE has kept in the game is you can literally play how you want and every frame and weapon can have such a unique build. And the seeing all those crits on screen after the 6th forna on a weapon is never going to stop being an order incredibly satisfying feeling.

This game is so friendly to it's new players. Yesterday, I was doing a high level Deimos bounty with an MR3 Excalibur who was clearly out of their depth. But there was no stress, we helped them, revived them and kept them safe throughout the bounty. At the end, it was all "gg/gj" and nothing toxic. I have so rarely come across toxicity in this game.
For a 10 year old game, it is visually stunning! And doesn't need state of the art hardware to run! I think that is worth celebrating!
There is a lot and you do need to go on youtube/wiki but I also like that. It build communities outside the game and also breaks up the grind.
I also compare every free-to-play games monetisation to WF as I feel like it is the most fair. It has managed to create it's own economic bubble with supply/demand which you can go into and learn about. A free-to-play account can look exactly the same as a pay-to-play account simply because you can get everything in this game for free if you farm it. You pay for convenience/your time rather than a 'thing'.
This game has my respect wholeheartedly! It is a lovely place to chill but it can be a buggy, messy place at times. I would rather that then spending £20 on a warframe skin.

Longtime player here too, haven't played for 10 years but more rather I've played for around 7 roughly. I can't explain warframe in brief. It's too complicated, but it's fun, you'll never find a game with a community as loving and helpful as warframe. (Like seriously the community is wholesome and for the most part eager to help guide newer players too).
If your thinking about picking up warframe then your making a great choice. It's hard to get into, initially I didn't like it at all. I thought it wasn't for me. But I came back to it after about a month and thought that I should try it again. And I'm glad I did, for me a game has to have cool weapons, warframe definitely checks that box. There is so much original and unique content it's inspiring. With so many warframes and abilities and don't get me started on the railjack which it's like this huge battle in space. It's so fun, as for the nodes and grinding the map. That shit sucks balls. Not because it's necessarily hard but that is downright boring imo. Only incentive to do that is the rewards you get but that's the only real negative to progression. You can be f2p and get literally anything in the game free of charge. And with a good farming guide you can make it pretty easy too. All of that is achieved on the in game economy. It's daunting at first and one is usually hesitant to start trading but I promise the market is the best part of Warframe. So many cool things you can get your hands on by trading with other players.
..BUT.. is the story good? In my humble opinion, well I never quite cared for the story. Tbh it's alot of grinding. More than I'd like to admit but if you enjoy the fast paced gameplay as I do then you'll keep coming back for more just as we all have. But the story is okay.
My final thoughts, this game always has something going for it, it constantly evolves as time passes onward and the team who supports warframe is called Digital Extremes and they are by far the greatest and most passionate dev team I've ever known. If anything is worth putting money into, it's definitely warframe. They have earned every cent and dollar that I've given them for platinum. And I don't regret an hour I've spent in that game (except for grinding bounties, fuck bounties and that RNG bullshit).

The big no-no for me is: as you lvl mods to max and have 5 formas in your weapon and 5 warframes then game just turns into mindless cookie clicker, you don't play warframe for gameplay, you play it for equipment goals, (same as in cookie clicker, difference being here you improve your lethality and not cookie gains). Core gameplay is the issue: adds are just mindless sponges with aimbot that just rush you, and at the same time I think there is way too much visual noise in the game, this bring another issue: there is currently no way to make enemies engaging and "smart" without them becoming outright op, cos the sheer amount of enemies which are barely visible and now will be performing actions you need immediate reaction to, will outright overwhelm the player. And I can't picture them completely redesigning FX and visibility of enemies, while also lowering their model variation at the same time giving them role and purpose with completely different approach to engage player. And that is just frustrating. I think Mass Effect 3 multiplayer is probably the best example of what I want warframe to aim at to be gameplay wise.

Which on top of being confusing if you progress normally made me even more confused after the helpful people went on to do their own thing. As someone who's played and is currently playing both, I'd say Destiny and Warframe are in a very similar place when it comes to lack of end game content.
I know many highly praise Raids and Dungeons, but they're not really something you can do forever since the loot pools are not that big. Of course, your time with raids and dungeons depends on a lot of rng, but once you got all the loot, most players don't play them anymore.
I think the biggest thing to understand if you're coming from Destiny to Warframe or Warframe to Destiny is that Warframe has way more content to do from the path of beginner to end game (potentially monotonous if you aren't the type for repetition though) but it doesn't hold fomo tactics within it. Destiny 2 has a way shorter beginner to end game route as your only barriers is the power level grind (resets annually until the new system) and if you bought the expansions. A lot of Destiny's content is centered around fomo, so you'll want to grind a certain raid or dungeon on the week it's grindable, or else you'll have to wait.

My biggest issue is instead of solving major issues with a viable rewarding ‘end game’ and with enemy scaling they’ve added many many undercooked systems now that take away from what I originally fell in love with with the game

It's very difficult for me to use warframe and endgame in the same sentence only because there isn't one in the traditional sense, just personal goals being your endgame. Over time your account will eventually get stacked to the point you don't need anything and the only thing left is making platinum and playing the most recent content for 2 months depending if there is a reputation grind.
I've found myself playing and enjoying alt accounts and its rekindled my interest in warframe, after running 2 fresh account into arbitration, steel path, and pushing the accounts power I can 100% confirm you do not need to spend a dime on this game and play completely free.
The price tag comes from knowledge and information gating. There is a lot I disagree with when it comes to DE choices for account progress or things just simply out of date. My best advise is to find people to play with and learn from them, as well reading the wiki, after 10 years there is not one thing that hasn't been covered in the game, just have to look for it.

I’ve been around for Warframe almost all the 10 years and I still feckin love it, it’s just so much fun and yes I have the muscle memory need to bullet jump in other games 🤣 I really didn’t like the game at all at first. Like you say it’s feckin nearly impossible to know what is happening at first and I abandoned it many times, but something about it keeps bringing me back and I found Chanel’s like yours and got a little help understanding the game and became hooked. Not gonna lie I still really really fecking hate all the grind and it does spoil the fun of being a stupid powerful space ninja but luckily for Warframe the combat is so much fun and elevates the overall boredom of the grind. Do i play as much as I used to, no, do I still enjoy it and come back for more, hell yeah but now I’m a filthy casual and I don’t give a feck 😊

The game is so unique, I cant think of any other game that is even close. Not saying that the game is "BEST GAME EVER", it is NOT, there is many things that frustrates me to this day. Plus it a bit bloated with content, as if developers has itch to make a new game. But is one of the kind for sure, story wise and how it is played.

If they just deleted Defense and Hijack as mission types (basically anything that prevents you using the games biggest strength: movement) and just put a lil search bar on the star chart so its in line with every other console in the orbiter then its a perfect game 10/10 haha.
Visuals, Audio, and Story Quests are always stunning. Possibly some of the most emotional missions ever made in a game tbh.
The downside to the main quests being so good, though is that it highlights pretty harshly how shallow the 'main ' content is. Grind is an understatement, dear god! I think having to re-level weapons more that once for polarity is clear example of pure arbitrary hamster wheel grind road-block nonsense. There are so many examples of "please repeat this task 1, 329 more times or wait another hour because we have no content so must stretch basic ideas razor thin".

The one thing I really hate about Warframe is the Relic cracking grind. It's awful. And it feels really bad to waste fully charged relics over and over trying to get a final frame part and fail repeatedly. I wish they'd make the Relic system less lottery. Maybe after each opening you get a token and X tokens let you pick the item you want.

for me the main flaw in warframe both in its game play and story is that the developer s think of a cool orinteresting idea first and think of how there going to implement it in later.

Grandmaster founder here, stopped playing after they nerfed void dash into void sling (Short void dashes became a staple gameplay mechanic for me and my hyper mobility builds). Between them nerfing weapons/rivens out of popularity instead of actual balance, the extreme gameplay change/clunkiness that came with voidsling, and the general lackluster direction the game has been taking... I'm over it. You can only nerf my fun and time investment so many times before I move on to other things. I've spent thousands of hours trading and buying rivens for hundreds of thousands of plat, only for them to be nerfed without any reason other than "it's too popular". When a company disrespects your time investment the way Digital Extremes does, they can go f-k themselves. Too busy enjoying games with an ending now, too many good indies, too many good single player/co-op games, too many good games that don't require me hoping the developer isn't going to ruin my gaming experience. First it was Warframe, then Overwatch, then GTA Online... I'm just done with developers screwing me over, live service gaming can go to hell. Thank god the indie game scene is absolutely slaying the gaming industry right now, Digital Extremes like to pretend that we are all going to come back to Warframe eventually, they couldn't be more wrong. Their pettiness has made me petty, and petty enough to dump my 5k hours down the drain due to their incompetency. My friends list consists of people who haven't logged on in years and whenever we talk on Discord not a single person has any intention of coming back, DE lost sight of what makes Warframe great, and if they don't reach out or listen to people like me (Actual gaming veterans with 30+ years gaming experience) then the game is ultimately going to continue going no where.

The monetization strategy is definitely one of the most player friendly I have seen for free to play games. However, the only way to get platinum besides paying for it with real money, is by trading with other players. This means that even though you yourself don't have to spend any money for it, you still need someone else to do so so that the amount of available platinum in the game increases. Of course, this isn't an issue anymore in the current economy in the game, but it is still required. Other free to play games generally still provide a way for players to get the premium currency, either through daily or weekly activities, login rewards, or by other means. So although I don't necessarily have an issue with the current monetization strategy, adding some platinum rewards inside the game would definitely make it even better. Perfect even. (But I understand why they don't do it. At this point in time it wouldn't make sense to do it. There is already more than enough platinum floating around in the game).

As a previous 7 year veteran here's my take:
Pros: combat / gameplay, customization, graphics, overall content, presentation.
Cons: combat / gameplay difficulty, overall content, grind, mastery, end game, RNG.
Warframe easily has some of the best combat, movement, and gameplay of any game, period. IMO Warframe has THE best customization of any game I've ever played, period. You can literally customize everything. There's a lot to do and a lot to earn. The game looks amazing, has some of the best cinematics and animation I've ever seen.
Despite all that good stuff the bad stuff is IMO really bad. Combat and overall gameplay is great but lacks difficulty and reward. The game is not hard. Difficulty comes from bullet spongy and overpowered enemies and / or a lack of a powerful build (which is RNG based). Nothing in the game is skill based, it's build based. That may not be bad for most but I see that as a con. It should be a balance of both. If you're skilled enough at the game mechanics you should be able to tackle all the content, even without an op build,l (just my opinion). Mastery requires leveling everything, even stuff you don't want to use, and overall, it has no benefit other than let you use level locked gear (which might not be worth it). Then there's the content islands. There's lots of stuff to do, but that stuff doesn't connect very well. Everything you earn in the game should ideally have some utility throughout all the content. There's plenty of new warframes that come out but the devs rarely fix or update older frames to be on par with newer ones or newer content. The final con, no endgame. Warframe is very arcadey in that way, nothing to really work towards once you get the stuff you want.

I would say you will be satisfied around Mastery Rank 16-20 at that point you would have experience every mission type, most likely max every faction, if your not a complete psychopath completions we’re your trying to collect everything you would have around 30 Warframe that you personally like, half the weapons you like and again satisfied.
At that point I’m just doing NightWave and fun activities but definitely slowed down the grind a lot. Toke Longer breaks and that okay don’t burn yourself

I have mr 14, most of steel path 350-400 hours ingame in warframe. I also have around 3000 hours in destiny 2 & Raid shadow legends and in my opinion warframe monetization is as predatory as raid, if not worse.
To explain: a market that is outsourced & using „earnable“ currencies will have a way higher volume (low & high spenders), meaning lower Bar for entry and thus will cost the average engaged player (only including mr3+) way more than any AAA or subscription based game.
Sadly people that engage online have usually spent money on the game themselves, making them biased because they have an „investment“ in the game.
    Kind of genius ngl

I got up to like MR 20 something and just got tired of it. This was probably a year or two ago. Hope in every now and then to rank people up in my clan then log off. I found Destiny 2 this year (super late) and I think that's keeping me entertained for the time being. The similarities between the two are crazy. I'd love tenno/warframes in that game.

As a ten year veteran myelf, I'd say you missed out on two points regarding Free to Play and I think they're actually very important, because the second originally drove me away from spending any money at all (for the better or worse; I missed Excalibur Prime!):
    1) There are real money purchasable cosmetic exclusive to the various prime bundles (I couldn't care less, but I think it's important to mention).
    2) The default conversion rate of money to platinum and the whole x% off limited time login bonus combination sadly still is outright predatory building on FOMO, even though the game absolutely wouldn't have to do so, because - as you've said - the rest of the store is more than fair and absolutely free to play'able for pretty much everyone.

The good has easily been the variety of characters, skills, and weapons. It is one of the few games where weapon creativity has really been pushed and the variety at present gives the same feeling of when I played the original perfect dark with it's varied selection of weapons. I started really getting into the game around 2015, haven't had too many breaks in between then, and have thoroughly enjoyed the game for the most part, minus the melee 2.0 changes that took a bit too long to fully bring about in my opinion. The combat and flow in game is something unique beyond your typical shooters or hack and slash games.
The bad part of the game for me is easily the lack of missions with more depth than the simplicity of complete a single objective. You have all these worlds, all of these mission nodes and yet at every turn it is nearly all the same. Exterminate, spy, sabotage, defense, mobile defense. Why can't we have some more in depth mission nodes where you have to stealthily complete a spy node or two, sabotage a following objective, and then defend an extraction point for X amount of time before escaping the area? Anything with more depth and complexity would be much welcomed. Boss fights are also a relatively weak point, with most of them being either ridiculously easy or too reliant on stages of invulnerability would be some of my biggest gripes.

build-time on top of the "find out where to find it"+ the grind to actually get it, is just too much. i wish they would free us from at least one of these things. make things way easier to find with an ingame-system, so we dont have to rely on third party options like wikis or youtube guides or remove the build-time. removing the build-time sounds way easier. but having both is just disrespectful to the players and their time.
for instance: you have a free weekend and you decide to farm a frame, you cant play that frame on that weekend because it takes 12 hours for each part + 3 DAYS to build the frame. thats just an insult on top of the six hours actual gameplay-time to grind out the components and the research that could take an hour too. it really feels like a chore and you have to wait to enjoy what you grinded for.
the 3 days of build-time usually makes me not play the game for 3 days cause im pissed.
on the other hand, this game is truly a masterpiece, packed with amazing quests and storys and the music, guys the muusssiiiiic :)
weapons feel amazing to use, best melee-play of all games imo and best movement of all games. a ton of different stuff to do and all this for free, just amazing.
