    You have been a great help. I live in Ohio, we’re running indoor now. I can’t wait to run my MP-10 this spring. There are still a few things about tuning my engine I need to dial in and you’ve gotten me several steps closer. Please keep sharing your knowledge, because the only other way to learn other than running , is by getting the correct advice, and seeing what applies, and works for you. Thanks again.

    Thank you for this. I can rebuild the motor in my gsxr but I've never even seen a nitro motor before. I'm thinking about getting something for my son and myself to play with so I'm trying to learn beforehand. I appreciate it.

    The four things that need to happen to make an engine run no matter if it is a 2 stroke or four stroke is ....suck squeeze bang blow. 2 strokes suck and squeeze on one stroke and bang and blow on the second where as 4 strokes do it on each individual stroke

    I wonder with the tech we have nowadays if we could have a O2 sensor on the exhaust to find the Stoichiometric ratio easily and accurately.

    Can’t wait for the day when we have electronic fuel injection on nitro RC cars!! And a bead lock RC tire and wheel combo to eliminate the freaking tire glue!! But thanks for explanation of nitro engines! I always wondered how it actually works 👊👍

    Excellent video! Is it possible for you to explain when compression gets low how to tune or when to replace internals?

    • @invisiblespeedrc
      @invisiblespeedrc  3 роки тому +1

      The way to tune is always the same. at some point it won't idle with such a small idle gap, and you have to increase it. Otherwise you tune it the same way. When the engine doesn't want to idle and the tune is inconsistent, that is a good sign to know to change the piston and sleeve. If the engine is loud with a metallic sound, it means the rear bearing is bad, and needs changing.

    Nice video! Is important edit the long video abou tuning with the correct information about humidity and oxygen.

    I guess they should create some type of turbocharger to make these engines capable of running on unleaded fuel

    How does the glow plug stay glowing if there is no current when running? Isn’t it compression ignition much like a diesel and the glow plug simply helps get the ignition process started? Seems like a 2-stroke compression ignition engine. Not new to RC but new to nitro as of a few months ago.

    • @invisiblespeedrc
      @invisiblespeedrc  2 роки тому +1

      No it stays glowing due to the heat

    4:21 Deflagration not Explosion !? Chemical reaction / Burning at subsonic speeds ? Explosion is not until reaction (shockfront) higher than speed of sound, why explosions, as in pipe bombs etc, so dangerous ! Deflagrations and Stoichiometry are our friends :)

    Very good. Now i understand what my father did not master in late 70s when i was little kid. We must have nitro car he said. But it never worked ok. He was tuning engine all the time. Then i could drive for 1min, then tuning again. I am all in on electric cars :)

  • @truettsmith7034
    @truettsmith7034 3 роки тому

    I’m sorry to say mate but you’re actually wrong it’s a compression ignition not spark ignition the glow plug just get it going. think about it how the hell is that glow plugs still glowing when there’s no electricity 🤣🤣🤦‍♂️ it’s like a diesel mate that’s why it’s called a glow plug and not a spark plug big difference

    • @invisiblespeedrc
      @invisiblespeedrc  3 роки тому +6

      No, YOU are wrong. Except this part "the glow plug just get it going." Exactly what I said. But then the glow plug stays glowing due to this: "When the platinum in the element comes in contact with the methanol in the fuel, there is a catalytic reaction between the two. This heats the platinum while causing the methanol to ignite. This is the foundation upon which the entire nitro hobby is built." rogershobbycenter.com/allaboutglowplugs
