- So I tried one of the zwift academy road pro contender workouts (glycolytic capacity), much harder than I first thought...
I've been loving zwift academy so far and the workouts have all seem really well structured, I've found them to be just the right intensity for me. Challenging but not really difficult to complete, leaving me feeling pretty good but knowing I've worked out and banked some of the benefits. This one though was definitely tough.
The glycolytic capacity workout -
"This test runs you through sub 2-minute intervals followed by rest periods to allow for complete recovery. After intensive intervals, we'll also profile your recovery capabilities and judge how resilient your aerobic system is. This will be identified in the 2 x 10-minute sub-threshold efforts at the end of the session. Any riders considering the pro contract must also complete the 2 x 10-minute sub-threshold efforts without failure."

Thanks Jimmy, hoping I can improve on the baseline ride at the end! I actually don't know, it was so persistent for so long and mechanics had a look but we couldn't work it out. Recently I took things apart and clean them and now it's gone, unbelievable 🤣
Holy smoke looking color from your workout, your FTP is not that high, but you do have really massive raw leg muscle power especially 1000w seated!! Keep going!
Thanks! Have you tried this one? I think coming from more of a strength and conditioning background helps with the raw leg power, ftp is definitely lacking though. Something to work on for me and believe it or not I use to be more powerful and had even weaker ftp 🤣
@@alexreader not in the short future, this will tax me out too much. It's a test rather than a workout. As the ride season come closer to the end for winter in USA, I even plan to do more base and reduce time at high intensity. But yeah i might keep it in the list when i get bored. My weakness is opposite. I lack the punch and i think i need to hit the gym more.
@@benjapolcycling yea that sounds sensible! Something I need to do as well, reduce the intensity and hit the zone 2 rides. Ahh, if we combine we'd be a better all round rider 🤣 when are you doing the finish line ride?
@@alexreader my plan would be tuesday evening for wo. 6 and finish line on Thursday evening. Assume my boss don't send me out of town.. for Weekend try to get most outdoor as possible if weather allows. And I ride MTB too thats quite tiring (but fun!)
