    Pretending to be a race and race mimicking is bad. Specially when it further perpetuates harmful stereotypes. But there should be nothing wrong with wearing that eyeliner shape otherwise. Gatekeeping makeup is bad. Eyeliner and eyeliner shapes are not exclusive to any race

    • @HeyitsJin
      @HeyitsJin  3 роки тому +45

      No one is gatekeeping makeup. We're gatekeeping our race. The eyeliner aspect of it is like the smallest problem, It takes more than an eyeliner to look Asian. Our eyes are a very distinct feature of our race, especially for East Asians.
      If you are so fixated on the eyeliner then you clearly don't actually understand the struggle. I don't need to make you look like the bad guy when you did that to yourself in the original comment.

      @@yvpb Girl of course I'm going to be offended. You do understand that for someone to feel the need to comment something on someone's video means what they want to say is something they feel strongly about. In the video, I stated that making your eyes as another ethnicity with the intention of looking like another ethnicity is wrong. I don't understand how did you interpret that as no one can wear makeup.
      You stating that small eyes isn't exclusive to Asians and I agreed. But you need to accept the fact that small slanted eyes, flat nose etc is a stereotypical features that the West created to depict Asians.
      If you can't see where I'm coming from then there's nothing I can do. We just disagree. Hopefully I didn't offend you in anyway for defending my race's right.

    Can we also talk about white people calling out others for "asian fishing" when it's dolly makeup, or when people are just following their natural eye-shape? it makes me tired that white people do this perfomative activism, it's just annoying. On the double eyelid talk, it’s because of all the mockery of our looks, the internalized western beauty standards that whiter skin and double eyelids grew popular anyway.
    Honestly only until now have I started to see people with Asian features of yellow skin and small eyes start to embrace their own features. These white creators also don’t help the already harmful Asian stereotypes of submissiveness that let’s be honest many Asian also played a part to create.
    To sum up everything in moderation, you can use our styles and wear out fashion but when you make our features into a ascetic or a tread ... that’s going way too far. You can join in Lolita fashion and look cute and frilly but fetishizing yourself making yourself look submissive can do a lot of harm to others so yeah maybe you should stop ??? 🙄 it’s not like you can’t enjoy stuff that you like just know your own boundaries don’t take it too far

      I think we shouldn't blame people that fetishize themselves for this? Like, they aren't the ones going out and creeping on Asian people are they? It's the creeps that we should be calling out not insecure girls that want to feel cute and sexy.
      Also, many Asian woman in Asia do surgery or make-up to look white while mocking white woman who naturally have those features. I think what a lot of people don't understand is that a lot of people in Japan for example see white woman as ''dolls''. So yes, they are trying to look white while dehumanizing and fetishizing white woman. That's where the dolly make-up look came from.
      And yes, Asian woman in Asia try to profit of off the ''exotic'' of white woman just like white woman in Europe or America profit of off the kinky Anime girl stuff.
      And this does harm white woman living in those countries because girls bar girls basically perpetuate the stereotype that white woman are all open to sex and are basically all whores.
      But I'm blaming creeps for these stereotypes and the creepy old man that ask me how much I want for sex because they think white woman are whores, not the girls that want to change their looks. (because we humans just want to be everything we're not)
      Because they aren't hurting or trying to hurt anybody. It's the creeps that look at girls sexualizing themselves and go ''Oh 'insert whatever race' are all 'insert whatever stereotype'''

    Tysm!! Because while I was on tiktok I found a few people who were like. “Ew they wanna behave like a UwU kawaii girl too and it’s so terrible!! don’t do this guys etc, etc.” it made me really start to wonder if it was even ok to dress in the cute lolita like fashion too or would that be considered asianfishing? I’m starting to feel like at this point some people on tiktok are losing what Asian fishing really means because just because you want to dress in a certain fashion DOESNT mean you want to be Asian and idk some of them don’t seem to get that. It’s really saddening because I don’t want to be called an asianfisher just because I love the overly cutesy and pink kind of fashion but when it comes to some of them that’s what Asian fishing is. It’s really gotten confusing;; it’s even at a point where people call just normal winged eyeliner Asian fishing

    • @HeyitsJin
      @HeyitsJin  3 роки тому +6

      Its important to differentiate asian fishing with dressing up in a fashion style. Like I said in the video I think the most reasonable way to differentiate it is you can wear all these cute clothes whether it's lolita, harajuku or korean style but you still need to look like your race. Its when people look at you and you look like a completely different race that's where the problem begins. It's the same as black fishing there are things the black community is more than happy to share but if you do blackface with it etc that's where the lines has to be drawn.

    • @plzleavemealone9660

      Most of Lolita fashion is literally just shortened historical European dresses. Like, it literally stemmed from Asian people being obsessed with European cultures so it would be extremely ignorant to call white people out for that. If anyone should be called out for it it's the people that took historical European dresses and shortened them like that.

    • @HeyitsJin
      @HeyitsJin  3 роки тому +1

      @@plzleavemealone9660 lolita are a fashion inspired by those European dress. The Japanese added their own touch to it to fit into their culture. At no point does any Japanese state that they are the pioneer of the clothes. You stated that the dress are shorten version of what the historical piece. Which is true but its in no way of sexualising the individual who is wearing it. The difference between the historical piece and lolita is one is historical and one is modified for modern wear.
      I don't quite see where your point is? Being obsessed with a fashion style does not equal to trying to become another race? Lets not forget that when the West colonised many countries they were the one that forced their clothing standards onto them. They were the ones that sexualise the norm of clothing choice of the natives and sexually assault the women until they were forced to change the clothings to prevent being raped.

    Thank you for your response on this matter. It seemed really reasonable compared to the other takes I've seen that are inconsistent and even hypocritical. I appreciate your clarity in the difference between appreciation of Asian culture and the appropriation of it. I'll preface this by saying I'm not East Asian, and in fact, coincidentally, I'm pretty much everything except East Asian (so I have quite a bit of Indigenous blood in me, giving me natural almond eyes.) I don't have any real say in this and I'm just stating my personal opinion and asking questions. I did also want to point out the one woman with the obvious, very drastic, surgery on her eyes you showed actually wasn't inspired by asian culture but instead those Bratz dolls or similar dolls. It does look at first like it's a horrible attempt at trying to look Asian though. Am I wrong in feeling like some people have taken the eyeliner thing too far with the accusations of Asianfishing? In some of these cases I feel like the whole issue that Asianfishing creates is forgotten by many of the people who attempt to call it out. Like to a point where regular looking eyeliner is being called out as Asianfishing. I was also curious about something I haven't heard many talk about, is it still Asianfishing if someone clearly states that they aren't Asian after a lot of people mistake them for being Asian? I also saw another thing where people were claiming someone was Asianfishing for using a Japanese name as their username, but it was actually the name of a character in an anime, I can't remember which. Would that also be Asianfishing if the person never actually claimed to be Asian nor hid their actual race? Sorry for the long comment, I'm just pretty interested in this topic.

    • @HeyitsJin
      @HeyitsJin  3 роки тому +1

      I can definitely see the bratz look. I guess the makeup and black hair looks like us asians.
      Name is weird and depends on the country origin. If someone decides to change their name to something in chinese is a little odd as you will associate with a chinese only. But then again our culture is beautiful because every character means something. For me it's not just 1 thing that determines asian fishing or not. A lot of the times its multiple things. Some of the girls who were asian fishing were heavily inspired by asian cultures. Its not just the makeup, its the hair, the influence, the way you act according to stereotypes of us asians to imitate us asians. Sometimes its with intentions Sometimes it can be someone obsessed with the culture so much that they don't see that they're going too far.

    I honestly still don't get why asian fishing is wrong, yes asian people have been treated horribly because of their features but that's not something that has been done by people that wanna have almond eyes so why should they get the blame for that, I honestly can't understand how we accept that people can change their gender but can't accept that someone wants to look like a different ethnicity simply because they like those features more since that's the whole point of having plastic surgery

      Of course I absolutely don't agree with it when it's done to show Asian people in a submissive/stereotypical way

      This is going to be a difficult one to explain. The reason why gender is acceptable is because the idea oof sex is binaries you're either female or male in a normal human anatomy. While the idea of gender is a spectrum. You can feel more masculine and align more as a biological male than a female. Etc etc.
      Race on the other hand does not have a spectrum. There is no social construct in the society that makes you feel like another race than the skin you're born with. You are treated the way how all people the same colour as you are treated. Black American are treated poorly with systematic racism etc. Asians are forced to fit into the stereotypes that caucasians has made onto us. Asian women are fetishized as submissive and don't have a mind of their own. The whole reason why Caucasian wants to become another race is all due to using our features as aesthetic and thats it. They have not grown up into a home with asian raising nor do they want the burden that we have to carry. They don't need to worry about being shot by police like the blacks do. They do not have to fear that they are being targeted to be bashed up just because they are a certain race.
      Transracial is wrong and thats the end of the story.
