I'm impressed with the pronounciation of Swedish words. You guys are not too far off :)
Yes :D They almost nailed it
because it's close to how you pronounce japanese words
@@phillytheflyerable cool 😎
@@anciilkeesh9697 Ja, speciellt ordet "Gräddkola".
Well, except for "Fröknäcke". That one wasn't even remotely close.
Here is some information about the products if you are interested:
0:31
This Beer is from the Ocean Brewery in Gothenburg (2nd largest city in Sweden) They started making beer in 2017 so it's a very new brewery but has become very popular in Sweden since then. This is their most popular beer.
1:38
These snacks are made from lentil as you said in the video and they are made by Estrella, One of Swedens biggest snacks-brand.
The flavor Sour Cream & Onion is considered a classic taste in Sweden and there are many products with it.
2:54
Poppels is a quite new brewery as well, they started making beer 2012 but they have become very, very big since then, They are Swedens largest organic brewery and they have even started exporting beer to our lovely neighbour Norway.
(West Coast = they are from the Swedish West Coast)
3:53
Göteborg Utvalda is a collaboration between Göteborg Kex (Very big cookies/pastries manufacturer) and a Cheese Expert named Jenny Svensson. They are made from oven roasted seeds and are supposed to be eaten with a slice of cheese like you said in the video.
5:19
This is a very local honey from the Gothenburg area and I think you need to be a member of the organisation to get your hands on this one (lucky you!)
6:32
Polly is made from Cloetta, A big candy maker is Sweden, it's a classic since 1965 and it's one of the most
sold chocolate candy sold in Swedish history.
7:39
Dugges is also a brewery from Gothenburg (we love beer in Gothenburg) They started making beer 2005 and by 2009 they had already become to big for their old location and had to get a bigger place. It's obvious that we love to support our local brewers.
9:13
You pronounced Beerbliotek perfectly! And it's the name of the brewery. They started making beer in 2012 as well and like the others they are a local company with roots in Gothenburg, they have many summer beers with refreshing tastes.
10:19
Gränna is a old city famous for making "Polkagris" (the candy stick) many Swedes go there just to watch them make their locally produced candy. Polkagris was invented in 1859 by a lady called Amalia Eriksson. It's also one of the most popular places for school-trips if you are from the area. (everyone from my school in Gothenburg went there)
12:49
This chocolate wafer combo was created in the year 1921 and was named "Five o' clock" but they changed the name to "Kexchoklad" in 1938. It's considered a classic in Sweden and is often marketed as a sports meal, to get extra energy when working out. It's often given to kids as a snack if they are going on a trip with the school.
13:16
This candy is produced by the company "Candy People" and they started making candy in 1982.
This specific candy share the same name as a very famous ice cream called 88an. They don't taste exactly the same but they share the same nutty flavor.
14:09
I don't know who made this but I believe it's a local beer to the Gothenburg area.
15:12
Remi Nougat is a Nougat flavored cookie made by Göteborg Kex the same company that made the seeds crackers.
Swedes loves Fika and Fika is when you drink Coffee and eat cookies / pastries with friends.
16:24
Läkerol is the name of the candy type, it's a pastille that is sugar- and calorie-free. It's produced by Cloetta, the same company as Polly and a perfect way to end your tasting!
It's very obvious that Nick and Alexandra is from the Gothenburg area and I think they represented Gothenburg with great products. I've lived in Gothenburg my whole life and I love japan so it was very fun seeing your reaction, Thank you for a great video!
.
antifreeze Dugges is actually from Mölndal originally tho ;) we dont have much so dont take that away from us!
Läkerol är en halstablett 🤨
@@davidandre6645 Nää
The old "åh en polly!" commercial drove me mad, so annoying!
Utmärkt! Greatings from Göteborg!
Well done on the pronounciations! You know your Å's Ä's and ö's. :)
As a Swede it's rather amusing watching foreigners try Swedish snacks. The 88 Bites is a recent chocolate version of my favourite classic childhood ice cream that was launched in the 1960s called 88:an. Oh and "Gräddkola" means cream caramel in Swedish. Kex Chocklad is my favourite too, Satoshi!
The "seed crackers" are actually a high quality whole grain crisp bread. It will probably be even better with some cheese like a gouda or edam cheese or likely emmenthal (swiss cheese).
Or pretty much any cheese. I, myself, love a good scottish cheddar. Or pretty much any cheese. :P
Oh i love Satoshi so much...'my tongue is drunk' hahahaha and i loved seeing Sinichi trying so hard with the beer before finally confessing he doesn't really like the taste. 🙂👍😁
Gränna = the place ”village” where the Polkagris or so called candy cane was invented :) you should go there if you go to sweden ! It looks like a photo from the 1950s , its like time stoped in that town
Wrong, the candy cane was invented in Germany
@@jonatansmusic hmm, wikipedia says Polkagrisar was invented in sweden, and candy canes in germany.
Infact, candycanes and polkagrisar are different. They are both however what is called cane candy.
@@jonatansmusic inventing the shape is not the same as inventing what it is made of. Gränna was ages before the so called "Candy Cane". And it is still, to this day, made by hand and made exactly the same way as it always were.
@@jonatansmusic No they was inventet by Amalia Eriksson in gränna, sweden. And thay are suppose to be hard when thay are fresh :)
Candy cane was invented in Germany 1670
Polka gris was invented in Gränna 1859
@Nicole Mrak, he didn't talk about polkagrisar, he talked about candy canes
I am so impressed, how you are happy eating what I am eating and drinking.. it is magical.. and it was in my version of japanese
Satoshi..."I'm not drunk but my tounge is"...lol. Omg!! I'm dying. Your videos are the best🌸🌸
Thank goodness they didn't include a can of Surströmming 😂😂
It's illegal to open inside, and probably to send with the post for ordinary people..!
@@TeruteruBozusama Hehe I'm not surprised! You could open it in your home though if your happy for the smell to linger for weeks
@@timotot123 years even. Apparently the only way to truly get rid of the smell is to burn the house down..!
@@TeruteruBozusamaHaha! Amazing. I've never smelt or tasted it but I know the reputation it has
@@timotot123 me neither, nor do I ever want to xD. But I have read about it as it's really interesting somewhat. And most pictures are just of the tin compared to smalahove which is both unappealing to look at and read about..!
Grenna/Gränna is a town, Near the lake Vättern - in southers sweden, where these candy canes originate from.
Thanks to Nick and Alexandra for sending so many wonderful treats! It was fun to see Shinichi and Satoshi trying them. The old-fashioned stick candies were so pretty, and would be so wonderful to try, along with the apple-elderflower Lakerol candies at the end. Thanks for the great video, Shinichi, Satoshi, and Justin!
Sättet han uttalade gräddkola MELTED MY HEART 😭😍 Så perfekt uttal, jag älskar det
This was one of the few videos that i like of this type! You guys where really respectful to our foods and culture!
My grandmother was born in Sweden and we used to get Polkagris made with brown sugar as well as white sugar. I can't find the brown sugar variety anymore. That was our favorite.
サクッとのTシャツいいですね。
お二人の会話がいつも英語の勉強にとても役立ってます。字幕本当にありがとうがざいます。
"I'm assuming this is cola" hahaha i made the same mistake in scandinavia trying Toms Stanger.
Kola is "toffee" xD
Lovely video, it was really fun to see you try sweets from my neck of the woods. :)
Fun fact: the candy cane-like candy comes from a town called Gränna, that makes A TON of those. If you go there, you see store after store after store selling "polkagrisar" in a wide variety of different flavors. I've only been there as an adult, but it would have been amazing to visit as a kid. All the candy everywhere would have blown my mind. :)
Yes, you did pronounce honey -honung- correctly! 😀Best regards from Sweden 🇸🇪👍🏻
Dalle Smalhals Är det svenska du skriver?! Fattar ingenting!
Myeah, but not really. Close enough though.
88 bits are based on an ice cream with calamized nuts and chocolate
Peanuts.
@@Kratatch Hazelnuts, 88:an is covered in crushed hazelnuts, not peanuts.
Satoshi's drunk tongue - love it! :)
tack så mycket för att du testat våra matar i landet, vi uppskattar det verkligen, älskar dig japan från sverige 🇸🇪🙌🏼
We should start with the beer.
Satoshi: of corse!
Crap I love this dude!
Great video it's really fun learning about snacks and food from different countries it gives you a perspective how people around the world enjoy their food and help you understand the cultures more lots of love and blessings amazing
16:39
Those are "Läkerol". It is a sugar-free gummy candy orignally meant to be both soothing for the throat and a healthy alternative to candy with sugar.
They need to just give these guys a show already. Super likable personality’s and I love the way they keep their episodes focused. More entertaining than half the stuff on Food Network
In a world where everything is so political and everyone has a agenda, it is so refreshing to unplug and enjoy these episodes
Fstarf1 I agree. I love these 2 and their reviews and recipes and gadgets. Lol. Theyre def some seriously entertaining folks.
💜💜💜
Must say you have a great and genuine and relaxing feeling in your video. Like listening to the sound of rain on the roof when laying in bed in a autumn day.
You have my subscription.
You guys make me laugh, love your videos. You bounce off each other with the comments.Keep them coming. Greetings from the UK. 😁👋
Thank you for your wonderful videos! You’re both so kind and respectful and I get a kick out of your humour!
Great video! i'm from sweden and i can vouche for all of the snacks
Linschips goes well with hummus👍
You know the Grenas polkagrisar is both the company but Grena is also the city where it’s made. Grena is super famous for its candy canes that btw is the ones you ate
I absolutely love both of you but Justin has stolen my heart. He is such a gorgeous well behaved fur baby, I love seeing him in the videos! 🥰
The 88 is originally an ice cream, but they have made sweets meant to taste like the ice cream. It’s like vanilla ice cream with chocolate and nuts on the outside.
Satoshi needs a t shirt that says my tongue is drunk!! Haha ♥♡♥♡♥♡
88 is a type of ice cream which is really popular in Sweden. The bites that they are eating are just a remake of the ice dream and the company have done this with other ice cream’s such as Piggelin, and Nogger
Excellent review. Thanks.
You're two chill guys.
I've noticed from getting candy bars from other countries that the wafer type is more popular than in the US
It's always amusing to see Satoshi getting gradually tipsy. Drunk tongue...LOL
Wow, i'm impressed how accurate you guys pronounce Swedish for the first time.
Drunk Satoshi is hilarious! That big grin on his face had me smiling too. Would love to go out drinking with him as it would be a fun time.
We have an ice cream called 88:an in Sweden (vanilia and icechocolate ice cream covered in a nutkrokant). It's supposed to be the candy version of the ice cream. Never had it though.
Arrak is like a liqour usually used in some Swedish *pastry* and when making punch (also liqour)
Polagris is a traditional Swedish candy. The have a place in Gränna (Swedish city) where they specialize in making polkagris but also something called knäck (almost lika a hard caramell) + other sweets
Gräddkola is like a toffee and the läkerol *candy* you can usually just suck on.
It's always fun to see you try stuff from around the world.
Treats from the best part of Sweden - West Coast, baby! //from a haafu in Sweden
I’m Swedish by the way 🇸🇪
💚💜
I loved the sakutto snacks. I kept wanting to put a piece of brie on the Fröknäcke crackers. Yum! I have a gluten-free recipe for them here, guys, in case you ever want to make them:
INGREDIENTS
Makes 30-35 crackers
1 cup of gluten-free flour, such as corn flour (traditional), quinoa flour, or chickpea flour
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
1/4 cup flax seeds
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1 1/4 cup boiling water
1 tablespoon olive oil or coconut oil
Note: Any kind of seeds can be added to or swapped out for the ones above. You can also opt to use a different sort of oil and add additional salt to taste.
PREPARATION
Preheat the oven to 175°C (347° Fahrenheit)
Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl. Pour in the water and oil. Mix everything together until it has a dough-like consistency.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the dough on the baking sheet, and add a top layer of parchment paper. Roll out the dough as thinly and evenly as possible between the two sheets of baking paper.
Pull off the top sheet of baking paper and score the dough. Do not cut all the way through. You’re scoring now to make breaking the crackers easier later.
Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes.
After you remove the crackers from the oven, leave to cool before you break into pieces.
Tabieats channel is really much fun 🤭 God bless you both with good health always
How could anyone dislike videos from these guys? I’ve never wanted to be a Weeb, but I sometimes feel the urge when I watch these two. 😁
Chris Rolls sounds like you're thinking with your bird instead of your brain.
Brandon Rowland , come again? Lmao
Or should I say, また来てね??
あなたは鳥の頭脳のようですね。
Please stop with the unnecessary insults.
Give in to your inner weebdom
Gränna is a swedish town and there are a lot of different "candy artisans" located around in that town.
finally!! :D Love from Sweden
Awesome video guys.
Justin is so adorable 😍
I freaking love Justin so much! He's got the cutest face ever....I'm such a fan of people names for pets. I've never met a pup named Justin... it's a perfect name. ❤️
Too bad you didn't get some Mariestads öl (beer) sent to you. My personal favorite out here. I'm an American expat living in Sweden (Gothenburg) for the past 9 years. Love your videos.
You two seem like so much fun to hang out and eat/drink with!!! 😃
It was a pleasure to see you, as always, Shinichi Satoshi and Justin!
Love your T-shirt Shinichi! 😀
❤💙💚💛💜
Thanks to Nick and Alexandra for the snacks. A drunken tongue😂😂. I love the Justinshirt😍. Thank you bothe for a great and fun video!
You should have tried some salmiak candy and licorice candy. Many here in Sweden and Finland love these candies. I don't think they have them in Japan.
Thank you for sharing!🌸
Most things in Sweden are made with natural ingrediens and it was really nice to see you appreciate that! Also, "knäcke" at about 4:50 is a sort of substitute to bread. Less carbs, less calories etc :P A tip for you amazing guys = the emphasis usually goes on the LAST vowel
I'm sorry I don't know your names but you with the hat and glasses has really good pronunciation of the Swedish words. Good job! Greetings from Sweden :-)
If you Wonder where The Gränna candy cane is produced it is hand made in Gränna district. It was in gränna candy canes where invented.
A colorful selection of good things. Great video. Thank you! 👍
Your shirts are really awesome! ❤ Greetings, you are the best! 🤗
"The best thing to start with is the beer" "OF COURSE!" xD I couldn't have said it any better myself.
Why does everything japanese people say sound so freaking exotic? "Oh the color is amber" sound like its the rarest Diamond ever found, I love it ❤❤ 😊
Very nice video guys! You have a new subscriber :).Happy new year from Sweden!
明けましておめでとう2020!
I don't know if anyone ever said it, but 88 is an ice cream. Not sure how to translate it, but it's basically vanilla and chocolate with hazelnut pieces.
Hi from Sweden.I want to explain what 88 is. 88 is an ice cream that is dipped in chocolate and nuts. It is very popular so now there are cookies and they are good too. Thanks for all great videos. I get to see Japan in a more personal way that I will never see.Thank you so much. Greetings from Inger and Sweden.
Ahhh so happy to see you guys are back together and taste testing - I missed this!
Shinichi “they are sour cream and onion flavored”
Satoshi in the highest voice I’ve heard from him “YAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!”😂😂😂😂
I think you both have answered this before but what is your favorite beer or type of beer (ipa, ale, lager, stout) or if you are not a fan of beer, your favorite liquor (sake, shoju, vodka, rum...) or mixed drink? (I personally don’t like many beers (especially IPA!), I’d rather drink hard cider or a mixed drink)
Great video, you guys are awesome and that ending 😂 18:47
I forgot how much I enjoy lakerol pastilles!
Keep making smile guys!✌🏼❤️✌🏼❤️
I haven’t watched you guys in a while... so glad to find you again :) love your channel!
Lentil chips are soo good. The ones I tried were dill and chives. Such a great combo of tastes.
Haven't had Polly in years. Might need to buy some again.
Ooh the polka candy..I love that stuff. As a kid my favourite ice cream was polka, so yummy.
Wafer chocolate is delicious. I can't remember if you tried Kismet in your Finnish snack videos but that's one of my favourite chocolate things ever.
What a cute little dog. I hope he/she is introduced and we learn the name!
Its really interesting that they are tasting swedish foods and not just candy.
The flavor that you have hard time to recognize is nougat, its a type of chocolate nut mix togheter^^ we have it in russia to
Satoshi is so cute when his tongue is drunk.
Your little dog is adorable! ❤🐶
Shinichi: I realized today that I'm not a huge fan of IPA.
Satoshi: Really?! Okay, I will buy IPA a lot.
Me: LOL!!!
I can relate to this. I have to buy very bitter chocolates if I want to have any chocolate, or else I buy and it is gone before I have any.
Will have a look at your new merch it looks good as well 🙂
Hello! Just for info. The chocolate flavor you couldn't really identify is a typical swedish (used by Götebrgs kex amongs other companies.) mixture that amongst other things contains hazelnuts. (could be good to know if anyone with allergies feels like trying, it should however be somewhat safe to eat, my father was allergic to hazelnuts growing up and he could eat Ballerina cookies (by Göteborgs kex) without problems. Best regards to all
The chips are made out of lentils actually.
The swedish word for Toffee is Kola.
Shinichi's true feelings about that beer @8:31 LOL
I love the look of the dog staring at the table like "WHERE'S MY BEER AND SNACK!?!?" XD
I love that you dont know it makes it so much fun!🤣but the have apps that will let you scan the wrapper in to your language love you guys
Those candy cane looking things are very traditional sweet in the UK. You find them at seaside tourist areas. They are called 'Rock'
Loved video... Drunk tongue made me laugh ...and loved Justin's appearance
I need a beer 🍺 after watching you guys
I was so happy when I saw you try Linschips and liked them!! I freaking looove Linschips
Wow they look delicious!! I really want some! Especially some Swedish beer!
I think the thumbnail is for the Hungarian one tho XD Or, well, a mixture of the two - my stuff and then a Swedish flag :D
I was just going to mention that, the thumbnail really confused me 😂

i love Satoshi's shirt. i might need just need to order one.
Your pronunciation is pretty good, way better than native English speakers which I find interesting. Thanks for praising our chips ;)
Gränna is the town that started making polkagrisar, they're soft when they're new then they get more chewy.
We have 88 ice cream as well, there used to be an 88 blue but they discontinued it.
Everybody loves kexchoklad
Living in Sweden but originally from Germany. Love these lins chips and kex choclad 🇸🇪👍
in sweden we have JUL-MAT AND JUL MEANS CHRISTMAS AND MAT MEAN FOOD . AND IT'S very popular it's a tradition and very good
Love the video! It was very interesting to hear your perspective on our different foodstuffs :)
SO HAPPY FOR THIS! :D The 88 bites was originally an ice cream! Vanilla, chocolate and hazelnuts!
