I live in Maryland and can say that this was pretty accurate 😂 but for me all I need is a crab and some old bay
olivia bartel yeaaaaa buddy
As a born and raised Marylander, especially from the eastern shore, I was excited about watching this one. Carrie and Alex did a good job picking snacks and treats, and I was tickled to see you guys love it.
As a native Marylander, I can confidently say that Carrie and Alex did an excellent job capturing some of the great food and drink selections that come from Maryland! Glad you both enjoyed the delicious treats! As someone also mentioned in the comments, the chips are pronounced UTZ as one word, and they rhyme with guts, of course without the “g.” :) And you will not be disappointed by Capital Teas. They have an amazing selection year-round, with additional seasonal flavors as well. Great video!!
+tenshichic thanks! We really enjoyed everything, looking forward to trying the teas this weekend.
@@TabiEats 10:58 aww hahaha, when you squeaked the doggy toy for Justin, my golden retriever thought I had a new toy for him!
Lol my boyfriend is born and raised in Maryland and when he saw Herr's and Snyder's said they weren't Maryland, they were made in Hannover PA. Glad you liked the Berger cookies, they are my boyfriend's favorite cookies.
Thank you to Carrie and Alex for sending such a fantastic box of treats! Everything looked so yummy! How sweet to see Justin enjoying his new toy, too. Maryland is a beautiful state. I'm looking forward to the next part of the food review during the Livestream, too. Thanks for the great video, Shinichi and Satoshi! PS Satoshi, your hat today is great! :-)
I am born and raised in Maryland. I have had most of these things. We put Old Bay on most things! Crab and Old Bay is very unique for our state.
Lol, Old Bay everything in Maryland. I'm originally from Germany, but I've lived in Maryland since I was 12, I'm 35 now, and I actively crave Old Bay when I don't have it for a while. Great on fries!!
Me and my girlfriend love you two! We have wanted to send you snacks from Maryland and I’m so glad someone did! It makes us so happy to see you guys eating stuff from our state! (Also it’s pronounced like “uhtz”) :)
+Katherine Dick thank you! We enjoyed everything!
You can always send them different ones ;)
I moved out of Maryland a month ago due to work and watching this video brought back so many memories. All the things you tried are great examples of Maryland foods. If you ever get the chance, go to the Eastern Shore of Maryland and get some blue crabs with old bay or some crab cakes. The crabs in Maryland are unlike every other crab you will ever eat. They are a bit sweet and with the old bay they are also a bit spicy. Otterbein's cookies were a household item in my family. Anyone who came over left having eaten an Otterbein's chocolate chip cookie.
I am originally from the Eastern Shore (Salisbury, yo) and I can double up on your assessment. Alabama's Gulf blue crabs do not remotely hold a candle to those caught in the Bay, or on the Atlantic side of the Shore.
Fisher's popcorn and Thrasher's fries are a tradition in Ocean City, as are the salt water taffy. Obviously you can't try the fries unless you're there, but if you do make it there, they're a must-try as far as I'm concerned.
You need that Apple viniger stuff too
I lived in Maryland for 56 years and Berger Cookies are excellent. You really only have the white cookie as a reason to eat the delicious icing! LOL!
+Martha Fletcher omg they were amazing!
Martha Fletcher I’m from Maryland too. :D
Martha Fletcher I live in Maryland to #baltimorecounty
The man gaming Gta mob, #montgomerycounty!
Martha Fletcher #annearundelcounty but I can’t stand Berger cookies. Too much chocolate.
Love this video and was awesome meeting you guys at your LA Meet up. Grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and every time I get the chance to get back to Baltimore I take back Bergers cookies and crab cakes or coddies. I used to work for Grauls in Ruxton, MD many years ago. Brings back many memories. Lol. Thanks for the video, Carrie and Alex for sending you the snacks, and will come back later to share it. Will definitely try to catch the livestream. :)
Hi, this is the Carrie that sent the box! I'm so glad you guys liked everything, and I loved following the live stream too! For everybody that's pointing it out, yes several of the brands are actually from Pennsylvania, but I included them because they're popular with Marylanders and the crab seasoned things carry that Maryland flavor. I did tell the guys in my letter which things were not actually made in Maryland.
The crab taste comes from seasoning called Old Bay
I get Kerr's here, but they never send the good flavours to Canada it seems. We have the same type of puff with ketchup.
purberri my brother puts that on everything
Old Bay is amazing on anything that needs savory flavor. I have been known to dust it on my grilled-cheese sandwiches for an extra Eastern Shore flair.
@@HayTatsuko fellow Eastern Shore girl here who does this as well. So good!
Old bay doesn’t taste like crab😂😂😂 crab taste like crab old bay taste like old bay there is a big difference
Justin got a new Toy ! Lovely !
Technically, Synder's of Hanover comes from Hanover, Pennsylvania. However, these pretzels are sold all over the US. It is not a true Maryland product. Great selections.
I'll give Snyder's a pass, as their products are very popular across the state line. Would you consider Old Bay the quintessential Maryland flavor? If not, what?
I mean, it's not that far above the line
So glad you liked the items from Maryland. I have lived here most of my life and enjoy seeing others enjoying things I grew up with. The chips are not called U.T.Z. but utz. Rather like yutz but without the y lol. Enjoy and hope you visit Maryland sometime. 😊
As a native Marylander, I approve of all this selection. My favorite are the Berger cookies and the old bay cheese curls.
Lived in Maryland my whole life. We are very proud about our state and our products. Awesome video as always!
Yup I’m from Maryland and these are some good Maryland selections we have some pretty awesome tasty treats some people think our state is boring but I love Maryland it’s a peaceful state at least in my part of MD you guys are awesome !!
I grew up in Maryland and even though I am in Washington, DC now some of those things I have to go into Maryland to get. That beer goes great with Maryland Blue Crabs. The chips are seasoned with Old Bay Seafood Seasoning. We can get the Utz (uh-tz) chips in DC. Ocean City, Maryland is my go to for summer vacations. My family usually go twice a year for a week and a weekend. And if you are ever in Ocean City you must go to The Candy Kitchen to try their fresh fudge and soft water toffee.
I miss wrecking the scoreboard in the Ocean City "Photon" arena. (Lazer Tag, with points, in a controlled setting.) It was right at the edge of the beachfront, and it is why I never got TO the beach when I went there.
OML CANDY KITCHEN= LIFE🙏🙏🙏
Yay! What a treat for my Friday morning! I'm originally from the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I'm glad you had such a good time with this! UTZ crab chips are AWESOME. The seasoning is very similar to Old Bay. the iconic crab and meat seasoning from Maryland -- but another company got the rights to "Old Bay" products, which you tried out -- Herr's! UTZ is pronounced "uh-ts" in one syllable. Both the UTZ and Herr's snacks are pretty good, but I tend to like UTZ a little more.
Ocean City is actually not near Chinoteague. OC sits on the northeastern Maryland part of Eastern Shore/Delmarva Peninsula, not too far south of the Delaware state line, while Chincoteague is well south along that peninsula, just across the state line in Virginia. Chincoteague is most famous for the annual Wild Pony Swim, in which horses that live on Assateague Island are rounded up and paraded through town, before the foals are auctioned off to live elsewhere in the US -- it's a humane population control measure that's been in action for many years! I attended one in 1990 and it was super fun.
good food haul boys
It's really easy to make salsa and very healthy too I put it on my chicken and bake it and OMG the flavor gets immersed into the chicken perfect with Shirataki rice and a salad drizzled with olive oil
OMGEEE!!! I can't tell you how excited I was to see a taste test from my home state! Carrie and Alex: Where in MD are you from? I live in Southern MD! :)
Carrie and Alex captured the heart and soul of Maryland with all their foods. I have had them all and I am so happy that you enjoyed them! Maryland is famous for their crabs and Old Bay seasoning. The seasoning goes on EVERYTHING (I highly suggest sprinkling some on popcorn and french fries). I knew you both would like the soup, I LOVE it. That style of soup is called Maryland Style. There is company in Maryland called Phillips Seafood and they make a delicious cream of crab soup. (Geez, I'm getting hungry now, LOL)
I'm so glad you like the chip, too! Utz (I pronounce it "uh-tz") makes the best crab chips and the kettle cooked are the best. I usually enjoy them in the summer because there's nothing better than sitting on the beach with a bag of crab chips and an ice cold beer! Can't wait to see the live stream this weekend! Thanks for sharing guys!
Hi Trinity Li! We're in Annapolis :) Old Bay really is the best, but I saw in a previous video that another fan had already given them some, so that's why I sent them J.O. Otherwise there would've been a tin of Old Bay in the package! I like it on my fried eggs :)
BavarianRhapsody thank you! It was fun coming up with the list of what we wanted to send :)
I’m Australian and never seen Herr’s but that packaging is very pleasing to look at. Something about the color combo makes me happy!
Wow! What an awesome collection of snacks! The soup and salsa looked so delicious! I love anything 🦀! The cookies looked delicious too! I’ve been to Maryland a few times-for work in the past. That part of our country is beautiful! I cannot wait until the live feed for the rest of the review! Especially, the squeaky toy for Justin-chan! 💙
Brother, you mentioned 1:00 PM (Japan time), which will be 8:00 PM (PST) for us here in CA, yes?
The video showed an on-screen text correction to 2 PM JST -- which should be 9 PM, your time.
(Watch from 9:40)
J.R. Caldoon.... OMG!! Lol! I was typing my comment, towards the end of the video, and totally missed that message! Thank you!!
I wouldn't want any true fan to miss the live show! I'm totally looking forwards to it, and I'll get to see it, too since I have an early shift at work Saturday, which means an early departure later on. :)
J.R. Caldoon......Thank you again!! I’m so glad that you get to tune in! See you there! ❤️
J.R. Caldoon nailed it. Confirmed. Online time zone converters puts 2 PM Tokyo time at 9 PM PST and Midnight EST, USA.
Such a lovely selection!
I would love having you guys as guests. You're so grateful for all the foods! Loved watching this video and loved how much you enjoyed everything! ^_^
I say it "Ootz". I'm not sure if it's right, either. Herr's also makes a puff flavored like deep-dish pizza. They are my favorite, also the jalepeño and cheese puffs are very good.
Looks like somebody put a lot of thought into that selection, not to mention some money!
By now, I hope someone has told you "Herrs" are and always have been made in Nottingham Pennsylvania!
Over the border from Maryland!
Drive thru there when cooking you'll know it. Smells wonderful!
They have great factory tour & Amazing Christmas light display every year, as well! 👍😎
This video settles it! You two are my favorite UA-camrs! Love all your videos. Please keep it up. :)
Hey to my favorite couple on UA-cam! I just love your channel and watch it daily. I even show my kids. Always full of great energy and fun reviews. I learn so much from you two and would love to visit Japan. I am from Maryland and have had these snacks as well. I hope you all visit someday. I’ll take you guys out for real crabs which we are known best for.
I live in Wisconsin and I love Old Bay seasoning. I use it as part of the dry rub for my crock pot pork. It's awesome. Nice video.
That sounds like a good idea, I always use that on halibut in a pan covered. Love the flavour.
I'm lit... gonna do old bay with pork crock pot hack. Thanks!!
Caturday Nite I love it on chicken. X)
Oh! We have Herr's chips here in Toronto too. They make the best Ketchup chips!
Maryland Pride!!! This is where I’m from! Although ive only tried old bay chips and natty bo beer , I’ve never seen or tried anything else
In Montgomery count, MD I typically find the orange bag of Otterbein's cookies at the end of my Giant's grocery isle for about $5 a bag with tax (about $4.40-something without)! I have yet to see them at Safeway or another MD grocery or bakery! Be warned, the chocolate chip ones are EXTREMELY THIN, THE MOST ADDICTIVE of the ones I have tried so far (especially with milk) and oddly and sadly typically the bag with less cookies even though it claims to be the same amount as the others! T_T!
You have to try Berger cookies if you live closer to Baltimore
Epsil0nify I just recently tried those! Very good and super sweet
It's not often you both love everything you taste test =) Awesome!
Ahh yay!! I live in Maryland and that selection was spot on!!
Satochi: "thank you BEER-y much" :D
The selection are dope! Kudos to the sender! 🤗
Yes Maryland represent
Good job Carrie & Alex!!
Yum!!! I hope people send you more treats from other US places like California, New Jersey and Chicago!!!
Justin's little face!! And what a great selection of tasty treats!
What a great food haul! It makes me want to visit Maryland! By the way, my husband lives for those honey mustard-onion pretzels. He sometimes uses them to top his soup. Thanks for introducing me to food from Maryland! Have a great weekend!
If you or your gent go there, and crabs aren't an allergen for ya, please try a crab-burger. You might get a shell-chip or two, but the sandwich is usually amazing even with the bits of crunch that weren't intended. :)
J.R. Caldoon Thanks for the great tip about the crab burgers! I'd sometimes take a trip to Santa Barbara and get a crab burger with sharp cheddar cheese at one of the restaurants on State Street, but that place is long gone. It's great to know I have lots of options in Maryland. Thanks and have a wonderful weekend!
You're welcome, and thanks - it's been a good weekend. I'll have to try some nice sharp cheddar on a home-made crab burger sometime. :)
Utz is pronounced like a word with a short U sound like "butts" minus the b.
Phil Nolan oh come on bro you think you're the only boy on the block that likes snack foods??
@@brandonrowland9268 dude he was just helping them with pronouncing the word UTZ.
@@brandonrowland9268 huh? whatcha talkin about dude? Phil was just trying to help them pronounce the word.
ohh woow the cookies looked so good
Ive been to maryland quite a few times spent a couple months tehre as well. I love those crab chips they rarely ever sell them outside of maryland .
I from Maryland and crab is everything
Thanks for choosing snacks from my home state! 😌
its good to see ur.. taste test ...
make my happy time😘😘😘😘😘😘
4:17 My mom used to work near that supermarket
Happy time! Very impressive lineup of snacks ---and most of them looked so good! Haha, Chinko-teague ;)
Baltimore Maryland is where I live. :) I was hoping they'd send the Berger cookies. They're so good but so rich I can't eat a whole one. Crab and old bay are definitely what comes to mind when I think of my state!
Lucky to taste the food🌺🌺
Nice video love it😍😍👍
I'm from Baltimore MD... And we put old bay on everything. You guys should try a pinch of old bay in your Natty Boh... Oiishiii
I LITERALLY HAVE THAT CRAB TOY FOR MY DOG FROM HOMEGOODS STORE
I live in Maryland and I LOVE it
Recently got a house in Lewes Delaware and it is about a half hour from Ocean City Maryland
yes crab chips are amazing!!
i had the synders honey mustard in va , been wanting fisher's popcorn!~
It is Friday and I want a beer
Berger cookies are best when you put them in the freezer!
I am from Maryland!
great vid
Many of these are also quite popular in Pennsylvania. Which is not surprising as Utz (pronounced Uh-tz), Snyders of Hanover, ad Herrs are all manufactured here in neighboring PA
William E Donges III New Jersey too...
I really want that soup too. I like crab and that is a lot like Manhattan style clam chowder with the tomato base, one of my favourite soups. I always have old bay seasoning at home, good stuff. Showed Justin the toy and then he ripped the squeeker out? lol, my dog would have. He loved killing the squeeker.
UTZ is only in the east, I thought it was everywhere in the USA, great chips.
Like Tom Hanks said in Cast Away : "You gotta love crab!"
It's not U-T-Z it's Utz (pronounced like uhtz). The crab seasoning on the chips is called Old Bay.
Beer!!! Satoshi 🤣
you guys are cool
I live in Maryland!!😄
Living in Maryland it is weird to remember that we have these things every day but you guys don't
I've lived in Maryland for my whole life and I've never had any of this.
live in central california now from salisbury maryland born and raised till i moved when i was 18 and california can never have the hometown flavors of maryland state seaford fries homecooked meals :(
You were right with the second pronunciation. More of an"ootz"as in oops
Old Bay seasoning is basically the same as the crap seasoning on the chips.
CRAB. CRAAAAB ! BAD TYPO, SIR!
I was gonna say "did you just insult the almighty seasoning?" but it looks like you're safe
J.R. Caldoon lol stupid auto-correct.
Phil Nolen Auto-correct routines seemingly are programmed for maximum hilarity!
Phil Nolan old bay is different
Ok this is pretty good, but why my state? Also I had most of things in this visit. But you should eat our crabs,ITS SOO GREAT
I don't really like the Snyder's honey mustard and onion pretzel. The crab chips looks yummy.
Both the UTZ Crab Chips and the Herr's Old Bay chips are lovely. I am a big fan of Old Bay, but I have to say that the UTZ knockoff ones are somehow even better than the officially-licensed Herr's OB chips. Major props to UTZ for managing to make a Maryland traditional flavor even more of itself, even without the proper license.
In college, we called National Bohemian Beer "Nasty Boh". What, no Goetz's Caramel Creams?
what there’s only like 3 grauls stores in maryland
Great video but the Herrs, Utz, and Snyder’s are from Pennsylvania!
It's pronounced Uh-Tss. All of these food are the best :D Especially Natty Boh (easy to chug haha)
Holy shit those cookies look insane! 'murica fuck yeah!
I am from Maryland
+Gabriela Cruz hello!!!
Utz rhymes with nuts.
im from maryland
I’ve always heard Utz pronounced like “uhts”
I wonder if they're from Baltimore because that's where I live right now ^_^
Oh oops! Wrote my last comment as I was watching the video. I heard the word "Baltimore!" :D
Annapolis :)
Cool! I live in downtown Baltimore right now
Awesome! City life would be too much for me, but I like to go into the city for events.
That’s the worst synder’s, the buffalo one is the best.
Damn they didn’t send you guy no mumbo sauce :/
What’s with all the Herrs , Utz chips are so much better
Also, natty boh is crap beer brewed by Pabst in NC
Ok, be honest. How much did you giggle at "chincoteague"? I know, I'm immature :D
Better question -- how much did you giggle at "Assateague" ?
A solid 1 1/2 giggles. And a smirk. :)
I'm from Maryland but I don't like old bay that's why my sister says I'm from Delaware which in not
Justin is so beautiful! What breed of dog is he?
+Emma Chambers thanks! He’s half chihuahua and half miniature dachshund.
TabiEats he's so adorable!
So basically in marilyn everything tastes like crab Haha jk
It is Utz not u.t.z
maybe you should include short unboxing :)
