    Guys, piece of advice from a candidate for the class of 2024: START EARLY!!!!! I procrastinated my training thinking, nah I’m good, I got this. Clearly I didn’t. My first CFA went poorly because I only trained for about 2-3 week, and it wasn’t proper training. Luckily , I got to retake it this past Sunday. Between my first and second takes, I had one month to train. I worked my ass off with a trainer and boosted my push ups by nearly 30, my pull ups by 3, my mile run by 22 seconds, and my crunches by 25. Start training either with a trainer or using videos and other advice from an adult who knows what they’re doing AT LEAST 2 months from the date you must take the test. I was able to surpass the goal on 5/6 of the sections on my second try, but with more time could’ve easily maxed a few of them. Start working early so you can make your application look as good as possible. I’ll edit this comment if I get a nomination/appointment, should know within the next two months :) Edit: received a congressional and senator nomination. Will most likely hear about appointment in March!

      Jake Simpson Do you have any training videos to recommend? I’m a AFJROTC cadet Class of 2023, but I need to start now to help with PT and eventually a (cross my fingers) academy admission.

    • @jakesimpson6365
      @jakesimpson6365 4 роки тому +8

      Dream Discovery I don’t have anything specific video wise to recommend, but it’s good that you’re getting started early. If possible for you I’d go to your local gym or find a trainer who you can tell your specific goals. They’ll know the most efficient way to get you in shape for these specific exercises. I understand that can be costly, so another recommendation would be to look up good upper body/arm workouts, do them everyday, and most importantly do them properly. I can’t stress that enough. Proper form is the most important part of a workout. Also try to run at least 10 miles a week, with an “all-out” mile mixed in. This will build your cardiovascular strength. Every couple of weeks do a practice CFA and record your progress/what you need to work on. That’s all I’ve got for now! Stay focused and driven and you’ll be great!

    In order to qualify for admission to the Service Academies, you must take the CFA...You should strive to meet or exceed the average... Below-average performance may be disqualifying. 81 sit-ups, 12 pull-ups, and a 6:30 mile? To qualify for PJ and CCT (not exactly office jobs) requires a min of 10 pull-ups as part of the PAST. Also the PAST requires a run of roughly what works out be a 6:30 mile. So I guess being Albert Einstein isn't enough for the USAFA. You must be Jason Bourne with a Fields Medal

    • @tsrgames5669
      @tsrgames5669 4 роки тому +9

      You don’t need to be Albert Einstein or Jason Bourne. You just need a little determination to study , workout, and eat healthy. PJs are exponentially more fit than what most AFA cadets are. Just because you got the same min doesn’t mean much

    Doing my CFA in about two weeks. I think I'll be able to pass. Like everyone else is saying, biggest advice is to start training early. When I started training, I couldn't get the averages on ANYTHING. Now, a couple months in to training, I can surpass almost every one. Also, do at least one mock test. Doing these back-to-back makes a negative difference on your scores because you're worn out by the last couple events.

      It is much better if you can do a single pull up. No seriously. A single pull up is weighted better than any amount of time in a flex arm hang. I suppose if you can do it infinitely that might be better.

      I mean, I’d hope so. I’ve been training based off of this video. Also, it is found on their page, so if it isn’t I’m screwed. And everyone else would be, too, lol. Yeah, I think it’s still relevant.

      Vito Ratio bullshit . 6:30 mile isn’t easy .
      In high school I ran a 6:10 mile and I trained like a mad man and I was a wrestler . It was NOT easy to get there and I was a ranked wrestler .
      In the army on my two mile I ran it in 12:30 and that was absolutely pushing my body and I was 18 and a two sport letter man in school.
      4 minutes is world class .
      5 is elite
      6 is superior
      7 is athletic
      8 minutes is above average for non competitive runners .
      I now probably run a 7:30 at 32, but I also bench press about 365 now

      That should not be an excuse to go to USAFA. If you are good enough and you pass with high scores you can get corrective eye surgery paid by the Air Force. Also, USAFA does a lot more than just flying so poor eyesight should never be an excuse.

    the dislikes are the people who want to fly but don't have a work ethic and say its "too hard", and the people from other military branches saying its "too easy" (most people cant even do this though, even some who consider themselves athletic so...)

    This is such BS. The air Force needs the best people they can get. They should have one standard for everyone to meet, and not lower the bar for females. I understand they are weeker, and this is necessary to ensure an equal amount of women and men, but this isn't a charity, this is an army. When it comes to battle, I want the people who have my back to be the most physically apt available, and it doesn't matter to me the male/female percent. It may make it more difficult for women, but certainly still possible. I can't believe this is a thing.

    • @CHRIMOND777

      Dude, its the air force, not marines. Air force isn't a physical-based military branch, it's more technical.

    • @theray-venfam1536
      @theray-venfam1536 6 років тому +10

      The marines have lower standards for females as well bro lmao. But I agree with the first person. All people should be able to pass the same standard, no matter their gender, simply because (as I see it) the people you're fighting in a war arent going to only shoot the girls because they know the girl cant carry a wounded man off the field. Its bs.

      women have different bodies so they can be exactly as strong and fit as a man while having lower requirements... it's science, not sexism dumbass

      If a female can lift x% of her body weigh, and a male can lift x% of his body weight (assume x = a high number), both are fit, but the male can still lift more than the female.
