Dave, not sure if you’ve heard or read but that solar panel was originally designed by the owner of Herd 360. I have his 1025 solar panel kit and it comes along with a few more extras the spypoint doesn’t. I’m using it on a flex that takes anywhere from 6500-7500 videos a month on a feeder. The battery in the 1025 model solar panel is 25000 mah, it never drops below 97%. I thought I’d share that info in case anyone else wants to check out Herd 360.
Great info! Keep the videos coming. I appreciate them. I run a lot of trail cameras and love your tips, tricks, and gadgets to consider. Takes the guessing work out for me. I just bought yet another Spypoint, my first Flex so I appreciate this video. Thanks again!
Wow! The solar panel is huge. It also looks like it is durable and well made. I bet it does the job even in somewhat limited light areas with that big panel. Great information Dave! You are the Man!!
Dave, Will it be alright to run lithium batteries with the SPLB-22, even though it's not recommend? Also, which plug would be best to use 6v, 9v, or 12v with lithium batteries installed?
Yes, you can use lithium batteries with a solar panel because the camera operates on two different circuits. The panel WILL NOT charge the batteries so use the correct port on the panel to correspond with the camera’s external power port. The camera will prioritize the panels power first unless there is not sufficient power available, at which time the camera will use the power from the batteries. Hope this makes sense.
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial I really appreciate you getting back to me right away. I was checking my equipment; I do have it plugged to 12v while running LIT-22 batteries. But it went from 93% life when hooking up the SPLB-22; and dropped down to 76% in an hour and half. So I'm here now with the system and switched it to 9v. Seems the power jumped right back up to 93%. It's very confusing. Even talked with spypoint a few minutes ago.
How's she goin'? The Spypoint Camera seems to be a good product and these 3 accessories would really make the Spypoint the complete system. Thanks for sharing. Take care!!!
Thanks for watching! The panel has a built in battery so you do not have to put batteries in the camera (Spypoint actually recommends using their panel with no batteries in their camera) 👍
Regarding the solar panel, spypoint is coming out this summer with the flex s, which will have a built in solar panel. As far as I m concerned, solar panels are a real game changer when using cellular cameras. Thanks for the video.
Hi Dave With all the reviews you have done, I don't recall you doing one on Vosker celular. I have been reading reviews and so many said many celular cameras don't operate in subzero temps , especiallyVosker . Any thoughts on Vosker or other brands in cold weather reliability.
Thanks for watching Steve. Extreme cold is hard on batteries. From my experience the cameras can operate but the batteries are the weak point. Lithium ion rechargeable batteries usually struggle with temps below 0° F Lithium ion one time use batteries do much better with cold (usually good until -20° F). If you have a way to supply enough power, I believe most cameras will continue to perform despite extreme temperatures 👍
I live in Northern New York, practically Canada and my cell cameras have no problem in the winter. Batteries do go quicker due to cold so a snowmobile ride to change Batteries does happen but during hunting season it isn't really a problem. I run tacacam and spypoint.
That security box lacks an important feature, the antenna is totally exposed and believe me a slight little paw swipe from a curious bear will send that antenna flying and i'm speaking from experience! 😢

That’s interesting. I have seen some solar videos with Herd360 but have never tried his panels

Nice accessories, that ball head modification looks interesting for your solar panel. 👍
I appreciate you watching. Thank you 👍
Now if I could just get signal……I’d be set with all your hard work making it easy for us to have the best possible setup!!
Thanks for watching Matt. I appreciate it 👍
That safety box looks like a great idea with those curious bears! It’s great to know you can get so many different accessories to improve the footage
I appreciate you watching! Thank you 👍

@@HuntingFarmerOfficial I'm running a Spypoint G36 camera, which port is good to use on SPLB-22 for 6V, 9V, and 12V?
@@web2776 the G36 should be connected to the 12v port. The camera’s rubber cover over the external power port should have a 12V on it 👍

Great video and review, thanks. The security box looks very good. It is great you can get a selection of accessories for the camera
Thanks for watching Joseph 👍
I am really impressed with SpyPoint!! I have the flex and run a smaller solar panel and it works well. I am looking to get 3 more flexes!!
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience! I appreciate it 👍

I appreciate you watching Mike. Thank you 👍
Hey Dave Great video. If u get colar panel can u use just that or do u have to have batteries in it also?

I appreciate you watching. I look forward to the Flex-S release 😁👍
Does the flex camera run directly off of the solar panel or does the solar panel continuously charge the Lithium battery?
Thanks for watching. You can operate the camera via the solar panel (without any batteries in the camera tray) 👍
Looks like a great setup, Dave! Thanks for sharing. 👍🏼
I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment 👍
Does the solar work with the flex G36
I do like the solar and battery pack, batteries add up when your cameras are out year round.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it 👍

im glad your flex works i got two of them and they are they dont work right and you cant get customer ser to even answer me by phone or text
Can I use rechargeable batteries with the solar panel?
@@frankg6880 you can but the panel WILL NOT charge the batteries (which may defeat the reason you want to use rechargeable batteries).
Great accessories my friend!!
Thanks for watching Mark 👍
Thanks for the info my friend
Thanks for watching John 👍
Looks like a good setup.
Thanks for watching Skip 👍
Glad u had good luck with your flex . l have them and they suck
The blue light of death…have they fixed that issue yet?
Thanks for watching. I’ve had zero issues with the Flex. I think it’s dramatically improved over previous models 👍

Now if they could only get rid of the whip antenna like they did with cellphones.
That’s a good point. I appreciate you watching 👍
Yeah but with the security box they still rip off the antenna, I know they did it to mine ,
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience 🙁
