A few things that I have learned over the years with game camera's is that i set the sensitivity to medium and i always clear away any tree branches and brush that can move with the wind and give you 5000 pictures of wind blowing
Great advice, another thing is to try to mount the camera to a tree that's at least 4 inches in diameter, they don't tend to sway in the wind as much and a bigger diameter tree allows the camera to blend in better instead of sticking out like a sore thumb 👍

Dave, that was a very useful video. I have had some of those issues. I knew about the east to west direction was a no no. One thing I have done with cameras that don't have a view screen was to take my cellphone and use its camera to see which way my camera was pointing and take a picture with my phone. Having learned from the best myself, I can add that if you want to set up trail cameras in your Philadelphia suburban yard, make sure you turn the "Kids Playing in the Yard" and the "Delivery Truck" sensors to OFF, otherwise those are all the images you will capture.😎

I think the biggest one I remember was to carry a 3ft piece of string or rope because, well, deer aren't as tall as people make them out to be! 😂😂

Great tips! I have one camera that gets that flare effect from the morning sun(it faces SE but more E)but I like the spot. I may get a camera stand and try a nearby spot to improve those morning clips. I love finding new sites. I try to go back to the cam at a new site the next day or at least within the first week or so for initial checks but doesn’t always happen. I had bought a cell camera and was on private property hunting for the first time so i set my other camera facing my locked cell camera and i got a video showing me the camera turning-called owner to see if anyone was on the property-no why? Told them and i drove out to check-good 35 minute drive or so to find that someone took the card out of the camera facing the cell camera! Afraid they were going to come back and take my new cell and the other i removed them both! I really enjoyed getting photos on my phone! I shot my personal best with my good friend during bow season! Thank you and wanted to share was all. Not sure why people do what they do at times! Have a good night
They`re great for bird pictures at feeding sites. I use an old trampoline and dryer left on this lot and put the seeds under two feet away. You can later crop the pictures to zoom in on the birds. Some cheaper cameras (driveway alarms too) will leak so I seal mine with pipe tape and duct tape. If I have trail cameras set up in my area driveway alarms can alert me to activity if bait is left. Some have ranges up to a mile. These are great for fruit tree and vegetable garden security too if pests are stealing the crops.
Great tips, as they are usually overlooked. The one extra tip that comes to mind, that I saw you used but didn't comment on, is to use a piece of paracord or steel cable to hang your camera instead of the strap. The horizontal 1-2" strap stands out visibly to animals and humans.
In a new spot I'll set them up, come back in a week and see if it needs adjusting. Or even move it if the location doesn’t seem as good as I expected. Don't have a screen on my cameras and don't want to carry a laptop way back in the woods. But have set up enough that they're pretty easy to aim now and you can just wedge a stick behind them to make angle adjustments. I also like to have cameras facing north during the winter since the sun is always somewhere to the south. At least in heavy woods you don't have to worry about the sun so much.

Good ideas... I stand on the back of my 4wheeler to mount my cameras. I angle them down and try to hit cross trails. I feel angling them down I get less false triggers.
I use steel security cases lag bolted to the tree. One mistake I made a few times. Not making sure the camera was not point up at the leaves. You not only miss everything you also get hundreds of false triggers from the blowing leaves. Another way to avoid false triggers is to select spots that do not have small bushes or tall grass. Many false triggers with this. also make sure there are no branches in front or to the immediate side. At night the IR will hit these and wash out your video
I have the best results putting cameras perpendicular but farther back from the trail so the sensor swath is wider. As an example, I have a camera that's a 45 degree angle to a road where vehicles are going 10-20 mph. I get a photo of every vehicle going one way and zero of them going the other way because coming right to left the vehicle is farther away so the sensor doesn't trigger until the vehicle is in the center frame and it's gone out of frame left by the time the photo goes off. If you shoot photo + video the video happens after, so if you have a lot of photos where the video is nothing, this is what's happening.
Question for the people... if you see a cam on public or shared land, do u walk in front of it and leave a pic or skirt it ? I tend to skirt if i see it in time

I don't have a smartphone. I have a dumb phone flip phone since the early 2000's 🙂 I hate smartphones and the zombies that use them. I love the deer and turkey videos you have. I was a hunter 54 years ago and I could never kill anything. I would get so excited as a young teenager I would miss the average shot with bow and arrow. Do you have a video of just your animals? would love to watch them and let me know if you have a recommendation for what I am looking for. Thanks.

the lease what’s the lease. When he opens the door the camera moves with the door and he sees the right side and when he closes the door the camera moves to the front. So he is not going to capture video to the right when he closes the door.

I use rusty electric fence wire. It blends in and you can attach it to the tree quickly.

I put a stand near a deer trail and watch and wait very successful, have used a camera a few times but most of time I don't.

Never use a strap. Quickest way to get your camera stolen. Plz use a rubber wire instead.
No one talks about this enough! I always notice the strap before the camera itself.
