    I also bought one of these new Flex S camera's and was completely disappointed in the battery life. With the camera only taking 11 pictures on "transmit on each detection" I was down to 72% battery, the solar panel can't keep the the internal battery charged during long sunny summer days, it clearly won't work well when I need it to during the fall / early winter hunting season. I was shocked to find out that if you buy the LIT-22 battery pack, the solar panel will not charge it. I have spent several hours on the phone with Spypoint customer service and they had finally agreed to replace the camera, then quickly told me that they didn't have any camera's in stock for warranty replacement and it might be 2 to 3 weeks before I will be shipped a replacement. For these reasons when my warranty replacement comes in, I am returning the camera to Cabela's. Was hoping the Flex S was going to be the next evolution of the Link Micro S and would come with a LIT-22 battery and the camera solar panel would charge it. This is a huge fail in product development in my opinion.
    Between Spypoint's horrible customer service and sub par new product performance, it's time for me to give their competitor's a chance at my business.

      I had the same issue had my camera up for 4 days I had 184 pictures n 4 days all deer. Battery’s died and bought a rechargeable battery. Now reading this comment wishing I never spent 50dollars for it. And SPYPOINT customer service Sucks. I spent 15mins on the phone then finally just waited for a call back n never got that call back . I’ll be switching deer cams that’s for sure

      @@Jonesy522 Spypoint sent me a replacement since the solar panel didn't seem to be charging the internal battery. As soon as I got the replacement, I returned the new one to Cabela's for a full refund and bought another Link Micro Solar. I am sure in a year or so, Spypoint will have the bugs worked out on the Flex S, but never again will I buy a product that they have just launched.

      Same exact issue the micro s with the spy point battery lasts like 6 months the flex s lasts way less then a month I don't think the solor does anything for it I almost think it actually lasts even less time then the g36 with the lit 22 battery I don't get it almost as if the solor is some how draining the battery

      Should be banned those electronic Gizmo's their nice but unfair advantage me I got with boots packsack rifle I call with my bare hands and I get my moose they should al least be removed a week before opening just my opinion that's all drone hunters too are becoming popular I'd probably shoot it if I could it's cool to see what's around in your hunting area when your not there I just don't agree with the use of those electronic Toys during the season not sure if regulations vary from place to place just out of curiosity I've never actually seen a cellular trailcam does it send a notification to your phone each time something triggers it ? Are you able to look at your cell phone and see our of the camera at any time if you wanted Does it have to be in an area that has cellular service cause where I live the service is terrible you leave town after a few miles out no service usually till the next town , in between towns there's more often then not zip all for cell service cause if that camera requires cell service it be pointless for me to buy one cause theres no service for 45min on highway either direction lol good idea with the solar panel that's what got my attention cause I'd wanna stick that camera at my spot and just leave it through with spring summer go back and grab it during bird season kinda thing just to see the wildlife throughout the year what might be in the area

    Just in case you haven’t heard these S cameras, the solar panel does not charge the solar battery sufficient to keep the camera running. I actually laid mine in the sun full sun for 12 hours with the camera off and it only charged my battery by 5%. It also kept making pictures of absolutely nothing.

    Solar Panel doesn't actually charge the battery and/or can't keep up with just two sends a day. It defeats the entire purpose of getting this camera: from Spypoint Chat
    Agent
    It will not charge under the sun
    It will just going to sustain the battery percentage

    To make the battery last long

    QUESTIONS if you can answer please. So if I understand you correctly, (1:33 minutes into the video), you CAN plug in an additional solar panel. Is this correct? I want to install one of my Flex-S in an area where there will be little or NO sunlight, therefore, I want to install an additional solar panel (with a 20 foot cable) to catch the sun 6 plus hours a day. Is this possible?

    • @mountainbuck
      @mountainbuck  9 місяців тому

      Hey Tacamo! Yes, I just doubled checked and that port can accept a solar panel plug so you should be good to run it the way you’d like 👍🏻

    Tried the flex and don't like as much the LTM micro 20 LTE. Our local Rural King sold 2 cameras in a bundle for $139.00. Which included 2 rechargeable battery packs and the micro SD cards. Like a dummy, I didn't try them out immediately! Then go figure I liked them and went to buy 2 more and only had one bundle left. Keep looking, but I think I am SOL......

    @mountainbuck I am a bit confused and have been watching videos to figure out my problem so my camera has been working great the only issue i have is when a deer shows up I get a pic of it but that's it I don't get another one just the first shot and alot of times its just the head I want to be able to see the deer come in what its eating and even when it leaves could you help me out?

    • @mountainbuck
      @mountainbuck  7 місяців тому

      Hey Cody! There are a couple of settings you want to check on your FLEX-S. The first one is Motion Delay. If this is set for a long period of time (such as one minutes), then the camera will wait 60 seconds between photos. You’ll want to reduce the motion delay to something like 10 seconds unless you find you are getting too many photos or videos and then you can dial it back. The second thing you may want to consider is the Multishot feature. You can select up to 3, which will take a series of three photos (one right after the other in sort of a burst mode). This will also help to make sure you are seeing more of the deer and what they are doing. Hope this helps and best of luck this season 🦌👍🏻

    So does it work primarily on solar and the standard AA battery tray is secondary power?

    • @mountainbuck
      @mountainbuck  5 місяців тому +1

      For these cell cams, I would continue to use AA batteries as a back up. The solar panels do a decent job, but the photo transmission over the network also chews up battery life (in addition to taking photos/videos, infrared use, etc.)

    • @mountainbuck
      @mountainbuck  2 місяці тому

      Hey Jeremey. I’ve had some good success with adding in a separate solar panel on my cellular trail cameras. I’ve used a Tactacam solar panel and a Moultrie Mobile solar panel and both cellular trail cameras lasted for months with no batteries. When using the integrated panel (like this FLEX-S), I believe there is just too much juice being used due to the photos/videos and then the transmission. A bigger panel definitely works better.

    • @mountainbuck
      @mountainbuck  11 місяців тому

      Hey Haiden! There’s features I like about all the major trail cams. Tactacam and Moultrie Mobile have the photos + videos feature that I really like. Spypoint and StealthCam have the on-demand photos and videos option which is pretty cool. I really liked the Reveal XB, but they aren’t making it any more. I’m also really excited to check out the new Moultrie Mobile Edge Pro here pretty soon. I know it’s a lame answer but it’s tough to pick. After checking out the new models and using a bunch of them this season, I’ll have a better idea what my favorite is for 2023. Thanks for watching👍🏻

Standard mode with 4 times sync per day will be a much better way to set it up for battery savings. That means every 6 hours it will send pics if it detected something. The solar panel on them does not provide enough charge to be affective. They take good pics and video.
